I’ve been trying to keep irl and online separate as best I could and have discussed and shared news about this in other personal platforms, but as of now I’m afraid things have gone down horribly wrong here in Indonesia where I live. I’m also scared of the possible media censorships in this country in an effort by the govt to sweep things under the rug. hoping this will reach more friends out there because like many others I refuse to let the gov't keep this in the dark.
I won’t spam too much but just to give an indication of what’s going on in the doomed country I live in:
a motor taxi driver was ran over and killed by the police in a demonstration last night. his name is Affan Kurniawan, and he was only 21. he was not a participant but a mere innocent bystander who was brutally driven over. cctvs in the streets are shut down as per today, leaving many in the dark of the situations in the streets, aside from social media postings -- of which there are concerns of gov't censorship as well. I’m so worried for those who are joining the protests today onwards as well as the implications this will bring in the future.
details from another indo blogger
read more here
details of what the initial demonstration is about
(TL;DR -- the government stated that members of the parliament will receive a large sum of roughly around $6000/month from the country. this demonstration was a display of resistance to that. yet this is how the gov't and the police chose to respond -- with violence, whilst members of the parliament are enjoying their sanctioned 'work from home' day)
democracy in this country is not alright
i don't have a lot of followers here but i'm gonna use what platform i have to talk about the dire situation we are currently living in indonesia. please, if you're seeing this, indonesian or non-indonesian, don't look away. this country is sick.
this is bitterposting so ignore this if you want i guess but this site is so american (and global north tbh) pilled that something like intense police brutality, government corruption, suppression of the masses etc etc going on in a nation with a population of >280 million people barely even causes a ripple here
NOVEMBER 19TH, HERE I COME
You know what? Forget the discourse. This is no longer my hill to die on.
You wanna ship canonically aspec characters because “aro/ace people can still date/have sex”? Okay, then. LET’S DO IT. I wanna see an aromantic character with an alloromantic love interest. I wanna see that confession of undying love and the moment when the aro character says they will never feel the same way—not romantically.
I wanna see the asexual character with their allosexual partner. I wanna see that moment when the ace characters tries sex with their partner for the first time because they want to make them happy only to realize that they are 100% sex repulsed.
I wanna see the two demiromantics who don’t even know if what they feel is romantic attraction, but they adore each other and just want to make healthy snacks together and destroy each other at Mario Kart.
I wanna see the two aces who love sensual affection and are figuring out what they define as sexual or not.
I wanna see the romance + sex neutral aroace who happily and consensually does whatever makes their partner happy…but their partner still struggles with feeling undesired.
Oh, babe. You thought shipping an aspec character would be just like shipping an allo character?
zero braincells
sucks that "incel" is just like a generic insult now synonymous with "virgin" bc if people had much of an idea of what incel ideology actually entails, we could have a conversation about radical feminism being quite literally, beat for beat, incel shit for girls
radfems 🤝 incels:
basic, inescapable biology dooms me to be a perpetual victim of the Other (Evil) Sex
me and my ingroup are the primary victims of a society that is fundamentally and irreparably broken
99% of people cannot be trusted and will only hurt and disappoint me, so i need to stay sequestered in insular online communities where people won't try to gaslight me into questioning these truths
the outside world becomes harder and harder to bear as people won't accept my reality, and even my once-closest friends reveal themselves to be of the Enemy
eventually i have to accept the fact that nothing will ever, ever change, and i will die alone and deeply unhappy
like radfems also get blackpilled. they fall down pipelines into the deepest darkest extremes of their ideology, and it's increasingly harder to get these people to reengage with the world specifically because their ideology posits that the world is corrupted and divided into Us and Them, and that the ingroup's victim status is biological and innate. it's a system that lends itself naturally to doomerism and blackpilling due partially to the social isolation that comes with it. and it's equally difficult as with incels to "break through" the isolation because these people do not want help whatsoever. they have been thoroughly conditioned to see attempts at helping as Active Victimization and further proof of the rightness of their beliefs
official anti terf (and incel!) post
Hello everyone,
It's been a whole year since I first made this art for my dear friend, Mohammed Ayesh @/blackeagleplog , who is still suffering from the same dangers since the very start of this genocide. These days, I still talk to him daily via WhatsApp and he remains steadfast & positive in the face of all his troubles.
I cannot understate how deserving he is of help.
For a long time, he has put aside promoting his own campaign in favour of helping others:
Vetting campaigns on the ground to assure everyone of legitimacy
Creating the Ihyaa Society @ihyaasociety which provides a space for students to continue their education online despite the genocide
It is very important that he himself is supported, given how much he has done for others. Please consider donating to him today. Any amount, no matter how small, will help him.
As of July 9th 2025:
£4,477 / £15,000
Hi my name is Shelley and I am fundraising on behalf of the Ayesh family. Here is their story My … Shelley Gordon needs your support for
Don't stop supporting the Palestinians
I hope that the donations are as tiring as in this art
this 'being really tired after work' thing is really getting in the way of this 'pursuing my artistic hopes and dreams' thing has anyone else noticed this
trying my best to haunt the narrative but no one really gives a shit
Do you want to be politically pure in theory or help your neighbor. Is it fruitless to help your neighbor because there's no Perfect Pure way to do it ?
Honestly I would rather be politically pure. Your neighbors would never help you, so why help them?
Youre who this post is talking about. Individualism and elitism is not going to help the revolution and grassroots activism and mutual aid.
When the pandemic hit this old church lady joined our tattooed queer leftist mutual aid group bc her church soup kitchen closed. We shrugged and told her she was welcome as long as she didn't proselytize.
That woman never gendered me right once, but she shut up about Jesus long enough to feed people next to us bc she cared more about action than ideology. She also had a whole network of other church people who helped contribute $ to ingredients. We provided more and better meals together than in our "correct" silos
That's how any of us get out of any of this
wow this is really clever because [USA law that isn't applicable in the country this is happening in]!
OP you need to get a lawyer because [USA law that isn't applicable in the country this is happening in]!
um but it's literally illegal for them to [thing that isn't illegal in the country this is happening in]
I'd really recommend you contact [US group who aren't in the country this is happening in]
oh here's a link for [thing that isn't applicable in the country this is happening in]
There is a standard media depiction of a "healed" person. Someone who has Gone To Therapy. I've noticed this in a few works recently. We often see them at the end of a story, maybe in a "ten years later" epilogue. They speak in a soft, serene voice. They have Accepted what they cannot change. They have let go of a lot, including most of what we see them actually care about in the story itself. They are Happy, At Peace, in some non-descript way. They bare little resemble to the person we were actually shown. They bare little resemblance to any person. We were shown, as we usually are in stories, an agent, a desirer, someone becoming. Now they have Become. And they look back on all that silly becoming as something childish that they have moved past. Fire, you know, fire is for children who don't know any better. To be Healed is to have your fire rightly extinguished; to not even miss it.
"DSM-5 seems to have no definition of happiness other than the absence of suffering. The normal individual in this book is tranquilized and bovine-eyed, mutely accepting everything in a sometimes painful world without ever feeling much in the way of anything about it." — Sam Kriss's review of the DSM-5 as a piece of surrealist literature
it's crazy how many super duper patriarchal things get retroactively justified in the name of being about love. yeah I'm sure women taking their husbands surname has always 100% been about recovering from trauma and distancing yourself from abusive family or whatever and has absolutely nothing at all to do with women being seen as property. great work here everyone, marriage as a concept has been redeemed through the power of pop psychology
OP: Every tourist in Gansu gets to experience the Journey to the West rafting vibe by crossing the Yellow River on traditional sheepskin rafts like a scripture-seeking pilgrim.
insanely good takes from @sixamese-simblr that shouldn't be hidden in the replies
