this is also how i became a leftist after being raising very traditional/conservative/catholic tbh
hearing them break down ‘bad’ leftist ideas and i was just sitting there waiting for the bad part that didn’t come…and i’m like….yes? you should probably give free lunches to kids when their parents can’t afford to feed them dinner? why do you not want this?
trying to figure out politics was me just moving further to the left the more i learned about pretty much every single issue because of the traditional/catholic parts of my upbringing which is why i’m so baffled that so much of my family falls much more red than blue and i’ll probably never understand how that happened
i’ve had family straight up ask me why i support programs like free lunch and i had to explain that i support them because they taught me that i should care about other people and try to make the world a better place and the golden rule…they never seem to have an answer for when i ask them back why they don’t support those same programs
I’m going to preface this by saying I do not disagree with anything said in the above posts.
The only umbrage I have is simply this: I don’t trust my government. My government is the slowest, least efficient, and most expensive option for anything that isn’t bombing other countries (and in that case only the “slowest” descriptor does not apply). Having my government handle a social project should be the last explored option, ideally.
The reality is my government spends an inordinate amount of money and time on all sorts of social economic works. Whether or not I think it should spend that money on those efforts is irrelevant. So instead I would like my taxes to be spent better. I’ll use Medicare for All as my example. We spend more of our gdp on healthcare then any other nation and nearly all (if not all) other “developed” nations provide healthcare for its citizens. So I’m cautious of starting new operations but I’m very much in favor of fixing the ones we have.
We spend more on Healthcare than other nations specifically BECAUSE we don’t have state run Healthcare.
Medicare waste is ~3%, while the ACA capped private waste for large private insurers at 15% and they fought tooth and nail against that cap.
We’ve just been conditioned that private wasteful spending is GOOD while ANY government spending is bad, ESPECIALLY if it helps people.
I cannot tell if you are disagreeing with me or not because I agree with you. We (the American people) spend more on healthcare because the government does not provide it. My point is that the government (according to https://www.statista.com/statistics/268826/health-expenditure-as-gdp-percentage-in-oecd-countries/) spends more of its gdp by percentage than all other nations and it does not provide healthcare for its people like many of the others. So we are left in an awkward position where we pay for healthcare via taxes and also must pay for healthcare privately as well. If my taxes are paying for healthcare I want it to be provided for everyone.
I don’t disagree with your last point. The largest waste is when both the government and private sector are wasting at the same time and nothing is being accomplished. I am not against government systems and services providing aid for its people, it should. I’m nervous when we want that to be the first solution. The government isn’t good at these things. I would rather my government be a regulator and auditor for businesses, both for and not for profit, than the actual service provider. However, I recognize that if the service doesn’t exist than the government can (and should) step in and provide.

HELL YEAH BROTHER
Abolish Lasagna!?
I couldn't tell what their gender was until i pressed play and i think that's very very sexy of them
would you mind letting me know cuz i still got no clue wtf i am
not to get controversial but its whatever gender is associated with they/them
That's the fun part though, pronouns are a form of gender expression and can vary independently of whatever a person's gender is.
Even a cis person could use they/them.
you are completely correct. I’m just trying to answer @sydsliftingface question and the only gender I can try to ascertain from @cartoonfanorwhatever comment is whatever gender is associated with “their” and “them” which as you point out is very unspecific. Thus you are actually calling me out on how very useful I am being which was the goal of my post to begin with.

Selesnya EDH
Green/White is the last two color combo I don’t have an EDH deck for yet, so I’ve sorta been brainstorming. Here’s what I’ve come up with as possibilities:
Karametra landfall/creatures
Nazahn equipment voltron
Akroma/Kodama of the East Tree(?) big stuff/keyword soup
Any other fun suggestions? I haven’t even started any of these, but I’d like something to work towards as I near completion of my Izoni deck.
Speaking of which, I think I still have a few cards to cut from my list.
Emmara, Soul of the Accord as a deck has always intrigued me. On one hand its another token deck, but on the other with all of the tap and untap effects you get to utilize cards other decks never do.
Sometimes decks that are stronger are worse.
I was inspired to make mono colored edh decks with the gods from Theros beyond Death came out and my friend made Heliod. Erebos is the one I liked the least as a card because its kind of disjointed, but it has surprisingly nice card draw. I was thinking about swapping out to a new commander but the only one that fits what I use Erebos for is Yawgmoth, Thran Physician....and that’s just too powerful for what I want this deck to do. All this to say is, I agree.
reblog if you think

(the size isn’t the issue… it is the impossible physics of the clothing)
So this is from a web (toon? comic) called “My Wife is the Demon Queen” I cannot recommend it because I haven’t read it and it has that title; but when ever I see her bodice I try and figure out how you would have to construct an out fit to fit that way and what kind of material it would have to be made of. Either way this post is part of the contributing factor to the problems I’ve had with many of Eastern origin comics.
Sam of Rhystic Studies on Twitter showed this combo off with Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh, Kobolds of Kher Keep, Cloudstone Curio, and Aetherflux Reservoir.
reblog and put in the tags the first thing in popular culture you think of when you read “the boys”
*FLOOMP!* “Henlo!”
I… have zero excitement for Commander Legends. I’m looking at Krark and I feel like I should be going on a long talk about how cool it is and how fun it is and the silly things you can do, but between the Pandemic keeping tournaments down and how awful Wizards has been about so much lately, I just kind of… don’t care.
I’m in the same kind of boat. To further embellish the power creep of Legends made for commander has also been dragging on me and while some of my play group has been getting hype about the spoilers I just get more and more drained thinking about having to play against them; while being completely uninspired to build a deck for any of them.
i love how bugs bunny is totally calm as long as everyone leaves him alone but as soon as someone bothers him he’s like “ok. now i have to kill him”
Bugs Bunny’s defining trait is that he never starts shit but ALWAYS finishes it
Someone: *messes with Bugs Bunny*
Bugs Bunny:
I remember watching a behinds the scenes and the creators said that this is a defining aspect of Bugs. Because if he were to start he would win and therefore be a bully, but it he reacts then he’s morally in the right.
disgusted by people who listen to music on shuffle. you are less than swine
imagine listening to the same songs in the same order every day this post was made by shuffle gang
Imagine listening to albums in a way so that each song has no chance to lead into the others
Imagine only ever listening to full albums and never enjoying songs as singular experiences, this post was reclaimed by shuffle gang
Imagine listening to anything other then one song on repeat. ADHD gang intruding in.
