like the core assumption of Marxism for... almost a century? is that the principal contradiction in the world today is not between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat but between the imperialist nations and the colonies and semi colonies. and then the second core assumption is that US imperialism is the dominant form of imperialism (if you read pflp literature from their height they actually identify US imperialism as principle over Zionism in the struggle for Palestinian liberation). and since the fall of the USSR, the sole hegemonic power in the world.

But, obviously, that final assumption is becoming less true in real time, and then of course the second assumption cannot hold if the US undergoes a diminishing akin to postcolonial Britain. but there will definitely be a significant lag time in updating priors as one might say, especially among the louder segments of the anglophone left which do not precisely think thoroughly. so there will be a strange period where the global terrain has obviously shifted but people still act like the CIA runs the world. it might end up being as strange as contemporary neocons invoking soviet communism over gay marriage.

the thing about trans women is that anyone who isn't one can, at any moment, ideologically dump trans women and jump on the genocide bandwagon. they will, generally, face no social or material repercussions for doing so. the "genocide bandwagon" i mentioned earlier? that's 80%+ of the population who, consciously or otherwise, do not consider trans women to be people.

trans women can't do anything about this. if they try to argue back, they're framed as AMAB freaks wielding their male privilege by the people who are attacking them. it's an unwinnable situation because trans women, as a class, are not capable of oppressing the people who are ideologically dumping them. it's happening in droves in "AFAB queer spaces" by covert TERFs who are literally recruiting them. it's low key incredibly terrifying to see.

i can't write in third person about this anymore because this is terrifying.

we're being sent to men's prisons. those prairieland protestors, including two trans women, got sentenced to 556 total years in prison, essentially life sentences, for "left wing terrorism." in mens prisons we are systematically raped and murdered, including, often times, by the guards.

this shit with the TME qweerz is actively dangerous because its peeling off part of the overall trans community to be used to isolate us. it is an obvious ploy by TERFs to remove the few people who have generally been our allies so that we are more vulnerable. do you think these people don't have think tanks funding these things? they are trying to eliminate trans women from society. the president of the united states has explicitly said such.

ok people say that [tumblr] disproportionately bans trans women. common wisdom. but, like question: has anyone ever, like, proven that? because, what sticks out to me, is that if the rate of tumblr banning users was consistent across all demographics then it would certainly look a lot like the bans were skewed towards trans women, simply because tumblr's userbase is skewed towards trans women.

I think that it is real, but I think most people have the causation wildly backwards. An ex-employee gave some explanations for this and the current Trust & Safety head largely agreed.

Tumblr's moderation is both very broad and very buggy, and people are fairly cavalier about breaking the rules because most of the time you don't get moderated. Almost every blog has something that could probably get it moderated or banned if it was brought to the attention of the moderation team.

Also Tumblr flags seemingly random images as adult content, some of which are definitely brigading by malicious users and some of which is just glitches in the categorizer.

Tumblr does have an huge brigading issue. Because moderation is so broad and because there are real organized, malicious brigading groups who specifically target people they don't like, and often that's radfem groups, lolcow/kiwifarmers, callouts etc. who want to try and bully people out of their social space. It's also not uncommon in the more heated fandom communities but for this, radfem and kiwifarms brigading are the main factors. You can dig through someones blog and report their porn reblogs, and also just pick on someone until they say something that breaks the rules and then report them, keep doing that long enough to build up the kind of report history that might make a harried moderator press the "ban account" button.

in general I think that highly visible users are much more likely to get banned, because people get mad at them and report them, and they make a lot of posts that are more likely to give you something to get banned over.

That a system was not consciously designed to be transmisogynistic does not let it off for being that way in practice! If the system lets any group of mildly coordinated people to get someone banned by using mass reporting to control selective enforcement, that's bad and it's discriminatory.

Additionally, there's a decent amount of theory crafting in the notes about what may actually be causing this (death threats/NSFW posting, being highly visible, etc) that are missing more solid evidence than I'd like, and I really like to encourage everyone to remember that a comfortable explanation is not the same as a supported one

the role of brigading in bans is definitely something a lot of people talking about the disproportionate banning of trans women have pointed out. i remember a common complaints during the whole predestrogen car hammer saga was specifically that staff was banning trans woman who were targetted with mass reporting, that is how she herself described part of the process of what happened to her (also as to OP, this site is *not* skewed transfem in a way that matters here. transfems are around more than genpop, sure, but are still a minority on the site, whose major demographics from everything ive seen lead toward cis women and transmascs far more than transfems)

The absolutely pervasive mentality that unwanted criticism or critique shouldn't be given and should be ignored is why fans of color don't stay in fan spaces.

"Fandom etiquette" has created a space where fans of color either bite our tongues and eventually leave or say something, get dogged on, and then eventually leave.

So much of "fandom etiquette" seems to be about insulating creatives from Feeling Bad and hostility to any kind of negative feedback is a pretty big contributor to why bigotry festers in these spaces.
