A lot of people will agree that the proliferation and normalization of conspiracy theories in American society is dangerous and erodes our social fabric until you point out their emotional support conspiracy theory falls into that category. That's when you get very indignant people insisting they akshewally came to this conclusion based on Facts and Logic that "they" don't want you to know about.

waaayyy too many people take Wikipedia as gospel on issues, not realizing that it is constantly in a state of internecine conflict between people who legitimately know the subject matter and have the intellectual honesty & integrity to share that knowledge objectively and with valid citations, and people who are desperately trying to spin a biased (NOT "based"!) narrative to gain control over what people think and say about current and past events.
There is a hell of a lot of very valuable info there. There is also a lot of very biased, bigoted, antisemitic garbage there. Uncritical, incautious people use it every day. Wikipedia most definitely has issues they really do need to work on addressing effectively.
