As a lesbian, I’ve chased many shows hoping for gay representation only to be treated like an idiot. “How dare you see something that isn’t there?” “You’re delusional and perverted.”

I was burned by SwanQueen where they established clear sexual tension, advertised it as such then ridiculed you for seeing it that way.

I was obsessed with Rizzoli and Isles, only for them both to end up with men, and, once again, ridiculed for seeing anything but a platonic, heterosexual friendship:

I adored Killing Eve, but for the first couple seasons, they denied and tried to subvert any expectations that there was any sort of lesbianism going on.

Agatha All Along isn’t that. Sure, we didn’t get a kiss. Sucks, but the season isn’t even half way over. We’re not being mocked or chastised for “seeing something that isn’t there”. It’s there. We see it. The creators see it. How far it’ll go is anyone’s guess, but to treat it like bait is to forget what actual bait is.

Not to sound old and jaded, but you guys don’t know queerbaiting. Amazing for you! But don’t accuse a show that’s doing something special and controversial as being bait because you don’t see tongue.
