anti-doomerism has actually improved the way I handle my depression. This is like one of those romance novels where people bond over accidentally writing each other emails but better.

Like Pride and Prejudice but instead of the love interest getting dissed for his toxicity and then reforming, it’s just two people bonding over dissing a dead toxic asshole.

10/10 would recommend

Reading: I haven’t done much reading during Ramadan apart from some Qur’an verses but prior to that I was double-fisting The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky+The Long Game by Rachel Reid, and I’ll probably get back to that now that Ramadan’s out happy Eid. The goal is to destroy my cognitive abilities beyond repair.

Last movie: لا وقت للحب (No Time for Love) it’s a 1963 Egyptian film about the 1952 Cairo fire and anti-British struggles and romance. It has this one sequence where like women and children in the streets disorient British guards by singing and banging pots and it never fails to get to me

Last song: I’ve been playing Fairuz’s سيفٌ فَلْيُشهَر and the Red Army Choir’s Служить России on a loop. I’m in an odd military-sounding mood I think.

Sweet or salty: Salty but I have had a sodium deficiency on and off all my life so maybe that’s the deficiency talking and not me.

Coffee or tea: Tea 100%. I don’t mind coffee but I drink a concerning amount of tea daily. I can’t live with tea.

if you like crafting and also free things, might i suggest the antique pattern library?

it’s a not for profit that’s gathering books, patterns, and other materials related to crafting that are out of copyright (or getting permission from copyright holders in some cases) in order to share them online. they scan items, clean them up, then make everything available for free!

free things are great, especially when you’re just starting to get into something. like oh, i’m supposed to spend money on this hobby i just picked up 20 minutes ago???

the first time i ended up on the site, i seriously spent hours just trawling through everything. there’s the usual suspects like knitting, crochet, embroidery, but there’s also woodwork, calligraphy, and books on things like how to mount and frame pictures. with cross stitch patterns, they also make modern charts with the dmc colour codes available.
