Do you think Clark Kent's first few major articles were about the continued presence of lead pipes in parts of Metropolis' water system
(Average Metropolis reader after investigative reporter C. Kent's 452nd article on yet another case of landlords/business owners/factories' continued use of lead pipes/paint/gas/glass knowingly exposing the public to dangerously toxic lead levels) what the fuck happened to this guy
One day Bruce Wayne mentions in an interview that heroes like Superman are overrated, as the most effective way to reduce crime is to provide public resources and improve local infrastructure, then cites how neighboring city Metropolis has effectively lowered their violent crime by 13% after addressing their outdated water system and investing low income housing. the reporter conducting the interview suddenly starts looking a little uncomfortable
To be clear, Clark is still a fantastic investigative reporter. He still has to track down the sources to prove all this shit
"Who, Clark Kent? Yeah, we're pretty sure he's a Meta. Is he a superhero? Like what, "Lead-detector guy"? "Captain pipes?" Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy and it's a handy trick, but it's lead detection, not laser vision. He's not about to go running around in tights any time soon."
I just love the idea of a cape maintaining their secret identity by pretending to be a completely different and less impressive kind of parahuman.
everyone assumes that kent is so squirrely around superheros because heās just desperately hoping not to be conscripted to the JLA to fix their plumbing
Local Metropolis Reporter Publically Recognized For Contributions To The City; Awarded Medal Of Distinction
They tried to get superman to present the medal but he was offended at being called "overrated" in comparison to Clark so he declined
Counter offer: Bruce Wayne disguised as Superman

Hey this was a real fun little read. It's so great to find these treasures on this site
Weāre happy to have you!
I mean... this would make for an excellent TV serie where Clark Kent is an investigative reporters and make powerful ennemies in the mob and governement and he has to deals with those ennemies while not revealing he is superman and it his just a series of hijinks where the month doesn't understand why this dude is still alive after all those bombs, shootings and attenps to poison him. Lois might even get in danger once in a while and then in the background he need to run away to do his superman job, but all the focus of the show is on his day to day life as a more human hero
this is still one of my favorite explanations for gender
I overheard a woman at my job say "Your whole personality revolves around what you hate instead of what you love and thats an awful way to live." to the resident vocal Maga in the breakroom.
He was stunned into silence for at least 60 seconds so that was nice.
the amount of vitriolic replies to this post makes me want to analyze why people react so angrily to having an unhealthy behavior being pointed out to them.
You cannot grow without accepting the problem
I just finished Sunrise On the Reaping, the latest Hunger Game, and I devored the book and once I was done, I went online to see review from people and lots of people were saying there were lots of plot hole and I just came up with a theory :
SNOW WANTED HAYMITCH TO WIN
Not from the very beginning, of course, but I think after the chariot incident, Snow had some time and ressources to search into Haymitch leading up to their meeting. And both have some points in commons (handsome, smart, covey girlfriend).
Most importantly, Snow saw the game as a mercy for Haymitch over getting involved with a covey girl, and promised a clean, quick death to Haymitch if he behaved, with safety for his loved one, or a slow painful one if he kept acting as a rebel.
And Haymitch misbehaved, and thus was doomed to live by Snow. Similarly to Beetee, he bad a purpose and a use, and Snow wasn't gonna be wasteful.
So here the reasons why I think he was left alive :
1- Snow's narcissism and seeing himself, at least partly, in Haymitch, leading to some level of not wanting to kill him. I think this was further pushed when Haymitch was dress in old Capitol's evening wear for his interview.
2- To fumble future rebel plot, having Victors from other district to mentor Twelve allowed coordination, especially for this rebel plot, so having a Victor from twelve insure more isolation and less risk in the future. Haymich was the best choice since Lou Lou was never meant to live, odd guy died 2 seconds after the gong, and Maysilee was too rebellious. Haymitch in comparaison appeared a bit more tame probably.
3- To torture him. From the moment the game started, having Lou Lou find him just to die a painful death in front of him, I am about sure she was lead to him through the game makers. Even then, the butterfly mutts couldn't kill him, just be painful. Then 2 of the mutts where programmed to kill an ally in front of him, but not to harm him. The cage for humiliation, killing his family before he get to step there, having him kill his girlfriend. And they never did anything with the peacekeepers or the white liquor available in Twelves, even after Haymitch told the capitol of it. Letting him drown his sorrow, becoming a husk of himself, forced into the spotlight each year as a mentor doomed to sent two kids who'll die painful death. Public drinking should have disturbed the peace, yet Haymitch doesn't get arrested from what I seen.
4- As an exemple, I think he is a warning to the other Victor of "Do as I say, or you'll be treated like Haymitch". Haymitch made a fool of himself years after years, without repercussion and probably everybody whispered about his condition and what happened to him. There was no threat, no trafficking of his body. I thought his refusal of being a capitol puppet would have killed his family one by one, but no. Snow got rid of such valuable hostage to send a message. To break a man. To keep others in line.
I feel this answer some plot hole I've seen, such as why were the game so easy from his perspective, he never had to worry about mutts much, only other Tribute, and then he was not punished directly by the game maker.
At the end, Snow did sent the milk, but without confirmation it was Poisonous, it is just a message that he is Snow's puppet. And then, as a Victor, Haymitch only had milk and bread for weeks, as he said himself, as insurance he couldn't poison himself (how true that is I don't know, but maybe they wanted him to think that).
The rebel point was not loved, but every Victor involved was tortured, and probably many died from this (Beetee's son sure did).
Anyway, just a theory I guess, but I feel giving that motive to Snow kinda paint some "plot holes" in a different light.

Yāknow I reblogged this a bit ago and was saved from financial probation and getting kicked out of school because of it, just mere months from graduation. Got a call from the financial aid advisor telling me that they made a mistake with filing my account (or some other sort of clerical error) and said that, basically, they owe me money. Welp.
Last time I reblogged the money cat, I won two $100 gift cards at work.

There are some things you can disagree on and still be friends. Pineapple on pizza. DC v Marvel movie franchises. Dogs v cats.
But fascism and trying to dictate how others define themselves or live their lives? Yeah, no, that's not on the list.
