ok i can’t for the life of me find where i saw this comment but man I just gotta vent. don’t come at me saying wah potato girl this potato girl that like it’s a bad thing. like it’s all sasha was known for instead of it just being an endearing nickname and representing the brightness she brought into everyone’s lives. dunno if it’s just the gabi stans (not that i hate her, sleep has helped me get over my initial shock and anger) but people saying all she was was some comic relief that was always out to eat like what?? no?? are you forgetting her entire backstory, when she returned to her village and saved that little girl from a titan, and took that titan the fuck out with her bow and arrows??? she was strong, she was bad-ass, she was kind and she was wonderful and her death meant a lot to everyone. the thing is, as with any death in fiction, you’re always going to feel more strongly about a character you’ve known for the entire series and have a connection to. anger at gabi for killing sasha is born out of that bond, but I can hate gabi’s actions and still not hate her as a person. and any rational argument of ‘oh so many other characters have killed way more people’ yes makes sense rationally, but when you know a character your response isn’t rational, especially not in the moment, so yes sasha dying is a lot, more than other nameless faceless people dying because hello this is fiction where we’re following certain people’s lives and see the effect this has on everyone, and therefore the story going forward. and it is also earned because (full circle) sasha wasn’t a hollow, undeveloped character. she was an integral part of the squad we have known the entire series and her loss and the response of both characters in the show and on fans are legitimate, understandable and earned. so yeah... rant over.
