DP x DC idea/prompt Okay Wayne Industries has hired a new employee that's Phenomenal at their job. They have every program and software up to date- everything working smoothly without any interruptions or delay. Only strange thing is no one has ever seen them. They work strictly remotely due to disability. However, they are not on record to exist except for the last few years. Sam, Tucker, and Danny are runaways, running from GIW. They had to leave everything behind to keep themselves, the ghost zone, and their love ones safe. They're too young and have no way of actually being hired without finding out. Thankfully one of them is great at hacking, and he's been dreaming of working there for a while and now he has the perfect opportunity to show his skills AND work for company. However despite all his skills- They don't go unnoticed. A certain Tim Drake and the rest of the Batfamily had already figured out this "new hire" wasn't who he said he was. In fact, they may have found out it was a group of runaway teens before the second week. Now the only question they have, is why? Also Tim thinks its fun to test Tucker's skills and purposely throws viruses his way. Sam and Danny are probably focusing on doing the main shopping/looking out for giw and doing odd things for extra money while Tucker is living his dream.. remotely.. and anonymously.. but hey its the dream and the pay keeps them well afloat. Luckily they found a place that won't ask questions as long as they get the money.
Basically the Bats are keeping this group of teens employed while figuring out why they're on their own. Also while helping anonymously make their mystery employee (s) get better at their documentation by asking for information here and there without penalty. Its become a game, especially to Tim. XD
Tim is having the time of his life! Their computer guy is so good! A little more polishing and he might even be a challenge! Also, he is thoroughly impressed at how much they managed to erase of themselves. That took some dedication!
It does however paint a bleak picture of their lives. And might, maybe part of why they upped their pay scale again. And helped them get better fake ID's. Look, they need help, and they are trying so hard. Doing such a good job. They can't let them flounder. He is pretty damn sure B is writing up the adoption papers. And even Damian seems ok with it.
Lmao! YESS!
Lol imagine bats arguing about how much of a pay raise to give them too XD. Having to begrudgingly dial it back because they dont want the kids to get suspicious.
Meanwhile Tucker all like Whoohoo! Guess who got another raise! See Im built for this.
Sam n Danny like raising a brow but too annoyed by tucker's gloating to think long on that. Eventually gets him to calm down telling him they have to be normal about it... but do tell him he's doing great... now help us make dinner because Sam isnt touching meat and Danny keeps making it come to life when he does.
Danny is only allowed to make vegetarian food. Which, to be fair. He doesn't mind. It is annoying that he can't cook meat at all though. It's a good thing Tucker is the master of cooking meat.
And yeah, they get a bit suspicious. But then, his boss has been testing him lately? Maybe they are setting him up for a promotion? Either way the money is useful. Danny is making decent enough money from fixing stuff for people. And Sam is doing great work as an aide for the elderly. But Tucker is warning the most. They have enough money to start saving now! It won't all be going on food and bills!
Danny and Sam are very proud of him. Tucker is doing a great job! But he is being a bit smug. So revenge will happen. He will not be getting control d the TV for a bit.
The bats are digging as fast as they can, and well. It looks like the same from a town that doesn't exist. There is a bit of a good of information. Which is deeply concerning. What the heck?
I love the idea that Danny is helping fix things!
Since there been struggling monetarily, I bet they live in a very much cheaper area - aka, crime alley.
Danny gets picked up by Jason to work in one of his 'totally legal- see!' Businesses. Jason hoped he'd be able to learn a bit more about who they are and whats going on, but danny's surprisingly good at slipping away when his shift is over.
Tucker gets an official promotion (bc they couldn't justify a higher pay without the change of position anymore, it would give their 'mysterious' employee too much scrutiny within the company) and is absolutely stoked. There's only one teeny tiny potential problem - there's a social and he's received an invitation to attend to meet his new co-workers (who may or may not include various members of the batfam - up to author).
The fact that Tucker's had a growth spurt recently helps, but he still has a bit of a baby face. They're debating between trying to learn how to do effects with makeup, claiming he just has a baby face, or hiding it behind a face mask
Danny has been running around and picking up throw out broken electronics to take apart and turn it into stuff they need. One of their neighbours saw him and was like hey! Could you check over my thing? I can get you guys some home made quilts?
And it started from there. Danny was known as the guy who can fix stuff. And would take food, money, favours in return. Sam started helping by shopping for the areas Grannies. For basically the same kind of stuff.
And as it is in Hood's area they were pretty safe. Everyone knows you don't touch kids in Hood's area. Not if you want to live. And they were being helpful! Real community spirits the both of them! Of course people around were happy to help out! That's how Hood found him.
Danny was hip deep in a pile of broken electronics looking for useable bits to take home. Good stopped and stared for a second. That was one of the runaway right?
Hood: Hey kid? What you doing?
Danny: Oh! Shit! Hi Hood! Um, I need a specific piece to fix old Mrs Nancies heating! It broke and she's gonna give me cooking lessons and good if I fix it! So I'm looking for either the bit I need. Or! Enough scraps to build it myself!
Hood: Huh, real handy type then kid? Can I tag along? See how good you are?
Danny: I mean? Sure? But continuous have more important stuff to do?
Hood: Not right now. Plus, if you are good, I could use a new helper for some of the charity projects round here. We send people out to do what you're doing. Only I pay em see.
Danny: Wait! Really? Awesome! Yeah! Mrs Nancies makes great snacks! And I'm sure she'll tell you about what me N Tam have been up to! Um she's been doing shopping for the local elderly.
Hood: They paying you enough?
Danny: Um. Enough! And they give us stuff too! So even if we don't get enough cash we always have enough food and warm clothes and stuff! And Tuck has a proper job. So we can always cover rent and electric!
Hood: Well that's not so bad then. But yeah. She can give me a list of people needing help in the block too. Two birds one stone see. Let's see what you can do? What am I calling you?
Danny: Um. Ah. I go by Fran.
Hood: Ok, Fran it is. And you live with Tam and Tuck?
Danny: Yup!
(Real question: Fran?)

Before Jason fully hires Danny, he slips his people money to give to him and Sam for odd jobs, or extra supplies so they can afford to give more to them.
Sam ends up accidently building an entire information network among the old people of Gotham (they love to talk and gossip and most people underestimate their hearing and sight, and her 'elite' raising means she can traverse conversation with older people of various demographics - once she learns more about Gotham to not stand out.). Hood hires her as an informant on the side and pays some of the alley elderly to train her (subtly) in accents, mimicry, and being a gothamite. Her network and side business grows to include helping Alfred (who pretends to need more help than he really does) do shopping for his ridiculous number of grandchildren. He gives tips in cookies and vegan recipes.
(Real answer: it was the first name that came to me. AlsO Danny is not good at fake names. Fenton/phantom? I'm just pretending Sam chose it to tease Danny.)
Yes! He finds out the elderly alley lot loves these kids and helps them help the kids. He slowly helps them build up their rep. And the hires them both on.
Danny fits in far too well with his other mechanics and engineers. Everyone is surprised at just how good he is. The kid looks like a stiff wind could blow him away. But there he is lugging heavy machinery and crawling into spaces to fix shit. They love the gremlin. He ends up gaining the nickname Tinker for just how good he is at what he does.
Sam takes to her lessons extremely well. She loves her job. And learning accents and mimicry? She's having a blast! When she realises just how much these people know she takes advantage ruthlessly. She will know everything! It means she can keep herself and her boys safe. Her network let's get know of any threats to them well in advance so they can prepare.
Jason adores these kids. Even in the run from something, they still have so much compassion and kindness in them. They chose to help others as much as they could. We're they also using it as a way to protect themselves? Absolutely! But fear works just as well. AnD they chose to do good.
Tucker has to face up to his social meeting. He decides to wear a mask. He has a weak immune system you see. That will cover the last of the baby fat clinging to his face. Danny and Sam go with him. As his foster siblings. Their parents wanted a quiet night see! Honest.
Between the extra money and training the kids are growing into themselves fast. And they are starting to feel the safest they have since they were 14. The bats can see the way they are still wary. All three act like seasoned heroes. It's alarming to see. They need to feel them in somehow. And currently Hood has the best chance. He is known to go against the law in protection of people. The are hoping that will help them help their runaways.
The social allows them to talk to all three. And they are all a delight. Good hadn't actually mentioned boring the other two. To find out Danny is now one of his mechanics? Mostly for the community projects, but still? And Sam is now one of his informants? Well. It's impressive.
They are growing attached. And it's hard not to. for all they are bearing a heavy burden they are doing so well. Yes they are helping the kids. But they had survived even before that. And done well. Heck, Alfie adores Sam. For all her spiky nature she cares so much. Even Damian approves.
(Real response: XD I love that and completely agree. Sam chose the name for him, but it was a semi prank bc they didn't think he'd agree but now he's committed to it XD)
Sam and Danny agree to pretend to be tucker's foster siblings. Sam doesn't dress as goth to look younger, and Danny hasn't hit his growth spurt yet (as he insists - author's choice if accident made him not grow taller) so they look younger than they are ....to those that don't know them.
They're all really careful about how they present themselves and only have minor slips that would go unnoticed - if they weren't around the bats. Tim was at the social with Bruce as the "hosts", and damian was there to allow for Tucker to not be the only one who brought kids/teens, and to allow damian to interact with "kids his own age" (dont think we have a timeline established here yet for everyone lol. How long after the accident is this, and is Damian still a kid or is he a teen now?)
Tucker manages to contain (most) of his fanboying for tim drake (to seem older and remain professional). (OOoo!! Does tucker's mask have a slight voice modulator to help him sound older?). To sell the bit that Tucker has a weak immune system, he carries and uses hand sanitizer (I feel like the hand sanitizer should do something cool but idk what lol - I'm tired but got excited so I wrote this instead of sleep XD)
(Thanks! and yes, Danny always commits to the bit! It's the only way he can lie. He is now Fran. That is his name and nothing else.)
I'm thinking age 17, so three years post accident. Danny will have a growth spurt, Jazz didn't get hers till 17 is fine! He promises!
The mask does have a modulator. It's absolutely a high tech mask Danny made to actually be a proper filter. Gotham has foul air. Danny and Sam have one each as well, for when they are outside. So they don't risk getting Tuck sick. Honest!
They do have hand sanitiser, that's totally just that. And nothing else.(certainly not also a power enhancer)
Damian is probably 13-14 Tim is the same age, maybe a year or so older. Tucker is holding it together well. He's giving slightly sheltered due to ill health vibes. A bit naive, but an adult anyway vibes.
Sam and Danny are happily playing up caring but slightly bratty younger sibling vibes. They are enjoying playing awed baby siblings. Bruce is charmed. He knows it's an act. But it's cute. Damian is reluctantly impressed. He did not expect them to manage this well.
Sam has by this point dyed her hair purple. Dark ourple. But still purple. Because it makes it seem she has nothing to really hide. ANd differentiates her from her previous look. Especially as her and Danny have gone for sturdy clothes. Tuck got forced into a suit. Which he is not happy about.
Tim is enjoying talking to Tuck. He is really good for someone self taught! And he learns fast. It's good to introduce him around so They can all talk shop. Bruce has gravitated to the kids table. To speak to the younger ones. Everyone just laughs and ignores it. Good ol Brucie.
Danny and Sam both find Damian a bit too serious for a teen. But eh, they have met weirder people. This is nothing! Sam gets his interest with her love of plants and animals. They bond over being vegan. Danny is quite happy to talk pets. Cujo is still his best boy after all.
By the end of the night the bats are pretty damn sure the kids ran from their parents. That something is horribly wrong in their home town. It must be. Because they are far too good at speaking around issues. And Tuck's mask? Why would they think of that? That's rogue/vigilante level planning there. These kids must have been through it.
Dick: That's the Manson kid.
Bruce: She is?
Dick: Yeah. From uh, Illinois? The Fuck is she doing as little wings informant?
Bruce: Three runaways. Tuck got himself a job with WE under a fake ID. Fran is doing mechanics and engineering in Crime Alley, and Tam became an informant and carer.
Dick: Right. Well her real name is Samantha Manson. So, you can probably find the other two through her old name.
Bruce: They did a very thorough job separating their identities. Tim is impressed. He has taken Tuck in as a sort of apprentice in all but name.
Jason: I'm keeping the other two. 'Tam' is a natural. And 'Fran' was likely born with a tool belt.
Dick: You like them!
Jason: Course I do! On the run and they set up business helping the neighbours!
Dick: Awwww, little wing!
Okay, but I'm imagining the GIW rocking up, just to snoop. But there's some suspicious government types in Crime Ally so Red Hood greets them. With a Gun.
Hood: who the fuck are you?
GIW: We're the Guys in White and we're just here to look for dangerous individuals.
Hood: more dangerous than me?
GIW: *sweats* maybe?
Hood: Get the fuck out of my Alley.
Now Hood is investigating this new Government Group that he has no reason to connect to the runaways (yet.) Meanwhile the GIW realizes that their sensors went insane in Red Hood's presence (though not as much as for Phantom) and they're pretty sure he's a Ghost. Whether or not he *is* a ghost is up to author discretion.
