Just as those who arenât sex-repulsed donât owe you an explanation of what sex is (or isnât) to them, and generally shouldnât have to defend their orientation! :D

Aro culture is liking songs more for their sound/vibe rather than their meaning bc so many are about love
my favorite picture ever is the one that says âHELL IS FULL, BITCHâ and then it has the national suicide prevention hotline on it. it makes me smile every timeÂ

âwhy canât female heroes kick arse in heelsâ because itâs not practical and will literally snap your damn ankle you can scream weaponised femininity all you want but first off, you need to admit that theyâre not an almighty symbol of empowerment, and secondly that if you do a job with a lot of physical activity in heels youâre risking your own safety. all these women fighting in heels on tv are going to end up seriously injuring themselves.Â
weaponised femininity is a concept made up in an attempt to get us to embrace the industries created to hold us back/profit from our insecurities so that we can continue to fit into the male expectation of what a woman should be and not question why we are forced to spend thousands on our appearance every year
just a small anecdote. I had a friend who worked in theater; she was the stage manager and an actress came to her in tears one day because the director absolutely refused to let her do a choreographed fight scene in less than 3 inch heels because âtheyâre platforms so youâll be okay.â My friend, who is a womanâs size 10, brought her own heels in the next day and DEMANDED the director put them on and try the choreography before the actress did it. He finally agreed to change it, without putting the heels on.
so like I know you might think of âall those women on tv fighting in heelsâ as fictional woman who WOULD hurt themselves in real life, but its fiction so its okayâŚexcept those women are portrayed by real actresses who are actually fighting in actual heels, being directed by dudes who have never worn a pair of heels in their lives, alongside men who arenât expected to constantly wear things that make their stunts 2x more dangerous than they have to be. Just a thought.
Men take âletâs see feminine women being badassâ to mean âletâs see women impractically focused on their appearance in combat situations.â
Thatâs why I loved Black Panther even more Nakia took off her heels and used them as weapons and was running and driving around barefoot in that one scene
A number of stuntwomen have spoken out about getting injured on sets because the character is wearing heels and skimpy clothing that provide no protection or padding. It literally harms rl women.
https://amp.theguardian.com/film/2016/jun/29/why-stuntwomen-are-in-more-danger-than-men
The only way I wanna see a women fight with heels is if she takes them off and fights with them a la Mulan/Nakia style.
sorry i canât hear the noise of male entitlement over the sound of Evangeline Lilly and every other woman sighing in frustration
They photoshopped the heels onto wonder woman. Not even Gal Gadot could fight in them, but it was so important to The Look⢠that they frame by frame added them. Gal wore flats to the red carpet in protest.
My high school had a dress code that required skirts and pantyhose/tights for girls. Our male gym teacher insisted ten minutes was more than enough time to change after gym class. We asked him if heâd ever tried to put on pantyhose over sweaty/damp legs. He tried it. Took 45 minutes. Two things changed: all-male school board changed the dress code for girls to include dress pants, and our gym change time increased to 20 minutes. Men literally have no frame of reference for their privilege and misogyny and need to be schooled.
âWeaponized femininityâ with the current definition is so stupid. Iâd like to see reasonable weaponized femininity. Hair clips that can double as throwing knives, clutches that can be transformed into shields, wearing dresses both for the look and for the added range of motion. None of this âFighting in 5 inch heelsâ or âStupidly tight spandex that you canât move in but still Looks Good.â
Anybody out there advocating for âweaponized femininityâ needs to be advicating for practicality and safety as well
*rubs this on everyones face*
Thereâs a difference between laughing at a guy dressed as a girl in a *clearly comical* way and laughing at a trans girl.

No, there really isnât
I think the reason so many ignorant people think heretoromantic aces and heterosexual aros are âstraightâ is because they see our asexuality, our aromanticism, as a weird âneutralâ rather than an orientation, as a recessive gene that gets overwritten by the attraction we do feel. They are wrong. My asexuality colors so many of my thoughts, and in our romance saturated culture, Iâm sure aromanticism does the same for aromantics. It is not an odd quirk for an otherwise straight person. It is a different facet of being queer, and anyone who wishes to identify with that word should not be pushed away.
Boys who are sex-repulsed/donât enjoy sex/are too uncomfortable to have sex - youâre doing an amazing job at coping in a society that associates your maleness with having strong sexual desires. You are valid, you are loveable, you are not âweirdâ for not fitting into the stereotype of men wanting sex all time.
⌠I really needed to hear that thank you
growing up aro is thinking you have crushes when you were little and using them to damage your psyche and lower your self esteem before realizing attraction was supposed to feel good instead of horrible and angry
oof that sounds not fun đ

Itâs never âa pityâ that someone is aromantic or asexual. You donât exist to fulfill other peopleâs desires.
What taking testosterone will change:Â
- how much body hair youâll naturally grow (hint: a whole lot more)
- your muscle mass. youâll gain muscle taking T, especially in the shoulders and youâll lose body fat in the hips. itâs different to everyone how the body fat is redistributed but taking T is the best time to get in an exercise routine because youâll gain muscle a lot faster.Â
- your clit is gonna get huge within like the first two weeks. get ready
- you could get mood swings when you first start because itâs Puberty: The Sequel
- within the 3 months youâll notice your voice dropping
-hunger and hot flashes. Hunger and Hot Flashes
- you may notice that a lot of anxiety is going away! thatâs because testosterone (may possibly, this one is just my experience) can help mellow you out, and also some aspects of your dysphoria (high pitched voice, periods) are going away!
- also menstruation will stop by or even before month 5!Â
What taking testosterone WONâT change:
-your aggression. you are not going to turn into some out-of-control rage beast. if you are, then you probably need to talk to your doctor about it. T can give you mood swings because of, like I said, you are going through puberty again, but itâs not going to make you an angry person.Â
-your personality. i say this all the time, but deciding to transition does not equal deciding to be a brand new person. you are still you! in fact, transition means that you are becoming more you than ever! adding testosterone to your body is just something that you decided youâve been missing to help you grow into the great person that you are!
-your overall health. of course, there are concerns when taking a new hormone, but if you look at the health risks, itâs mostly risks that cisgender men typically have. Increased heart issues? Thatâs a cisman thing. And the increased risk for problems in your ovaries/uterus? I mean, yeah, people who naturally produce the levels of testosterone that we are going for usually donât have ovaries. So that one makes sense, you know?
Moral of the story is we need to stop scaring people who are taking hormones! Yes, itâs a big step and an important decision, but itâs has nothing to do with changing who you are on the inside. In the end, you are still who you are, just with a few different features!Â
The stereotype that transgender men are sweet, soft boys before T and then afterwards are hairy, aggressive men is problematic and very tiring.Â
Me most of the time: I mean, yeah I'm aromantic or arospec, but I don't hate love. Love and romance are fine, they're just not for me, at least not now
Me around Valentine's day: I literally hate everything about love and romance
