Highlights of the America 250 event (shitshow) in Washington, DC for July 4th:
- Due to storms, they had to evacuate the National Mall grounds. But the MAGA crowd didn't want to leave. They just stood around chanting "USA! USA!" They were convinced liberals were messing with the weather. Reportedly, one of the security guards got so fed up that he threw a chair at them.
- Fox News didn't have anything to share while they were waiting for Trump's delayed speech, so they just showed a feed of him staring at the TV. And he was watching Fox News.
- A bunch of the crowd that was evacuated wasn't even let back in, and they were raging about it on social media. Some of them waited 10 to 12 hours in record-setting heat (102°F) and never got to see anything. All special passes were canceled. So much for money privilege.
- Because the program was running so far behind, several performers were cancelled.
- Trump's speech began at 11:15 p.m., after a sizeable amount of his followers had abandoned the event. It was unremarkable in just like all of his other ones- a bunch of "America is the greatest nation," blaming Democrats for everything bad, and general gibberish.
- The fireworks didn't begin until almost midnight, so they ended on July 5th.
- They wanted to have more fireworks than ever before, but they set off so many that the sky was covered in light, and it just looked like everything was on fire. The finale was not visible due to the smoke.
- Trump appeared to fall asleep during the show.
- The immense amount of pyrotechnics fucked up the air in DC
Found something new 😆
What's the point of suffering if you can't be a little dramatic about it
America 250 went well today it seems.
mogged by Hamas I fear.
Chiquita released an advertisement which used AI and so many comments were saying they would never eat chiquita again, and like I don't care if you eat chiquita, to my knowledge there's no organized boycott against them (if there is feel free to add to my post) but if you would stop buying from a company due to their wrongdoings then why do you even buy Chiquita in the first place??? They literally funded the OVERTHROWING OF A GOVERNMENT, how can you be mad about AI but not about funding an actual coup??
Yeah Chiquita used to be United Fruit, and that name used to mean a lot, it meant so much in fact that they changed it to Chiquita hoping everyone would forget who they were. Have you ever heard the phrase "banana republic?"
big fan of whatever the youth is doing to torment scientology buildings
they couldnt take the heat
Speaking of heat, people are pointing out that's a massive fire hazard and have already snitched to the proper authorities, so it won't be long before the handles are put back
Then the speedruns will continue
This is why you have to chuck the shampoo bottle out of the shower as soon as you realize it's empty, so alternate reality you can go buy some more.
[OC] SOMEDAY A MORTICIAN GETS TO SUPERGLUE HIS LIPS SHUT, Seen in Cleveland
250 years and most native tribal groups continue to not be federally recognized. Embarrassing!
Hey so a small thing that literally everyone who sees this is capable of is correcting any “used to” statements about native people in this country.
“Native people used to live in this National Park” No. They still do.
“Native people used to tell these stories-” No. They still do.
“Native people used to use this plant as a natural remedy-” No. They still do.
Better yet, familiarize yourself with the tribes local to you. Odds are, they do not yet have federal recognition. You can still read the stories they have to share, you can share their ongoing battle for recognition with others, you can sign petitions and spread the word to others to do so as well. But do something.
This one goes out to my cat (and also @justcakethanks of course)
"i dont like intersectional feminist terminology because it implies that i have the capacity and means to enact violence and thats unfair because im literally so niceys" - one of the most dangerous and unsafe people youll ever meet
these people will say "hey dont group me in with all the other white/male/cis/TME people, im one of the good ones" without a shred of self-awareness
Making this post then immediately using tme/tma is kinda like willingly lighting yourself on fire after warning about the dangers of it
explain what you mean by this
Tma/tme is, at the end of the day, another round about way of asking about people's genitals. I am NOT saying it started that way, but it has ended up in that court. Language is influenced by the culture surrounding it.
It's used as a means of undermining gnc, trans masc, trans men, enby, and intersex experiences with transmisogeny. There isn't a trans or queer person not affected by it, it isn't gendered and it's more complicated than a checklist.
Using tme/tma language even to be specific about cis people still excludes gnc people at the end of the day
"another round about way of asking about people's genitals" nope, incorrect. cis men are TME, cis women are TME, intersex trans women are TMA, trans women with or without bottom surgery are TMA. its got nothing to do with genitalia. and if anything, its the TME people being reductionist in this sense, given how much they speak about it being a false binary and whatever else.
"It's used as a means of undermining gnc, trans masc, trans men, enby, and intersex experiences with transmisogeny (sic)" no it isnt. talking about the problems we face does not undermine transmasculine folks. that is, in fact, the entire crux of how intersectional feminism works.
i also find it interesting that you group nonbinary and intersex people in with transmasculine people, as if TMA nonbinary/intersex people dont exist. as someone TMA and nonbinary, its kinda fuckin disrespectful
"Using tme/tma language even to be specific about cis people still excludes gnc people" no it doesnt. someone can be gender-nonconforming and TMA or TME. it doesnt have any particular bearing on that
this is literally intersectional feminism 101. its so bold of you to assume you know what youre talking about when it comes to these things and then immediately talk about how "it undermines men!!" like. are we for real.
presented without comment
So we all know that humans pick up the speech patterns, noises, and body lamguage of the people they're around right?
And Grace can't exactly speak Eridian, cause his vocal chords phisically can't, but I imagine over the years it took them to return to Erid, we would've picked up quite a lot of Rpcky's grammar, tone indicators and acoompanyin movements.
So now imagine eridian scientists getting to meet Grace, learning to communicate with him, and figuring that "hey, this human language isn't too bad, you just need to memorise the strange sounds and it's really similar to what we speak, fascinating!", only to pull up an actual video from Earth and go "what the fuck, statement"
Does anyone know what to do about the temperature and also the prices
