Amy asked me what advice I would give to other creatives and I chose to speak on fear and the hindrance it can be to your creativity and progress. Honestly, I have let it keep me down and avoid doing a lot of things with my life and now, at 36, I’m finally starting to see how much of an impact it’s had on me and my ability to take chances and put myself out there. It’s always harder to think of the good than the bad around us (it’s human nature), but I’m trying to make a concerted effort to be more positive. It may not always happen (just ask my husband, lol ), but during this time of year, it’s necessary to keep myself in the right mindset. I’m trying to be nice to myself and those around me, but also stick up for myself and not take things so personally. It’s a fine balance, but I’m here for it! You guys, this is why I create - to share a little bit of happiness with others! This is my grandma (I call her Mama - my family is from the South) with a few prints I had made for her for Christmas. The first one is very special because it’s a recreation of her recipe for Macaroni Pie that she’s handed down to us. It’s such a staple in our family now that I had to pay homage to it and her!
