I’ve seen these posts saying, in the words of one of them, “If your job requires you to go against your religious beliefs then perhaps it is time to change careers?” in reference to healthcare workers and government employees who want to deny services to lgbt ppl or others whom they condemn, and i just feel like those posts don’t attempt to understand internal logics at all

like, fundamentalist christian doctors don’t deny trans people medical care because they believe that somebody should provide the care but they just don’t want to be the one to do it. they deny the care because they don’t believe the person should receive care. Their refusal to provide care isn’t just “oops you’re in the wrong field,” as if they were a person with a peanut allergy working in a peanut factory. It is an intentional and calculated part of why they are in the field in the first place — to extend religious control and condemnation to the medical realm.

the pediatrician who spent an entire consultation telling one of my friends at 16 or 17 that he would go to hell if he kept choosing to be gay wasn’t just “not cut out for the job,” he was specifically in that job in order to do that particular thing. All kidding aside, watch Basil Rathbone’s foot work. He knows fencing, and sets up the form even though he’s still playing up the stage blows for Danny Kaye to flail at for comedic effect.

Okay, but I need to talk about this because it’s even funnier if you know the context... Basil Rathbone was one of the greatest swordsmen in Hollywood history.  Which is why he almost never won any of his onscreen fights–he was good enough that he knew how to effectively make the other guy look even better.  That’s why the swordfight in The Adventures of Robin Hood looks so awesome even though Errol Flynn is nowhere near Rathbone’s level.

But this fight, right here?  Was one of the only fights where he needed a stunt double.  Because while he was able to keep Danny Kaye from being seriously injured, Rathbone himself nearly got skewered a few times by Kaye’s flailing around.  So in a bizarre way, this is probably the closest to an even match Rathbone had in his career… just not for the reasons you’d expect.

We're gonna need marathon runners, not sprinters. Accept help when offered. Offer help when (and only when) you have the bandwidth. We need you healthy. I've seen in my own life how much greater a force for good I can be when I have my shit kinda together. The real change I've observed in my life is less like a tunnel and more like a car heater. There's no recourse for sex workers to report their stolen/nonconsensual content, as you either consented to every piece of content featuring you, or you're a victim, meaning that a sex worker reporting say revenge porn of themselves would get ALL of their work pulled.

The ID requirements also apply to art, meaning old art depicting nudity or that is otherwise deemed as pornographic (which would disproportionately target queer art) would be wiped off the net unless you can provide the models ID, even if said piece was created decades ago and the model is long dead (which again, would disproportionately old queer media)

Would in general get rid of all user-generated adult content, giving more power to big porn sites and putting sex workers in an even more vulnerable position

Would be based on the states' age of consent laws, meaning said porn sites could hire 16 year old performers in most states (yikes) and lawyers that went through the bill agreed that in some cases it could be superseded by underage marriage laws, as in, a married minor (because those laws still exist in some states) could """consent""" to appear in adult content if this bill, that claims to protect minors and victims of sex trafficking, passes.
