Why I don't want to totally exclude minors from interactions:

Basically bc I wish I had cool older trans people to interact with when I was a teen, it would have helped me realize stuff much sooner, they might have taught me how to survive my environment better, I might have been less of a little shit with more exposure. So yea minors please only interact with stuff that and in ways which do not touch icky stuff. I still might block you if you try to because, besides being ace, I am trans so there's many people who would jump at the opportunity to call me a groomer and that gives me an amount of anxiety that is hard to describe. Putting "minors dni" would be easier for my mental health but I believe in virtue ethics and the categorical imperative, so I have a moral duty to at least be there for someone who, though underage, might need whatever amount of guidance a mentally ill 25 years old can give. I know i would want to give younger-me some guidance.

and if i said that tumblr thought they could get away with that update bc they know the majority of this website ignores the reblog option entirely compared to years ago, so they figured they could just BREAK the very foundation of how this website was built to operate and people would just shrug and be fine with that. please let this be a wake up call. our strong reaction to that change should start to reflect significantly in that ACTUAL reblog count under those notes we just fought for to stay untouched. fandoms and communities cannot thrive on likes alone. as much as tumblr has tried to turn this place in tiktok and twitter, it's not. posts need to circulate. art needs to be seen and shared. tumblr is not tumblr if this is not happening consistently because reblogs are the heartbeat of this website. please don't ever take it for granted. never give tumblr a reason to take away the thing that links us together and amplifies creativity. make reblogging a priority, PLEASE.

There are a million posts telling you its okay not to voice train but zero posts saying that you did a really good job voice training and that it was worth the effort and that you deserve recognition for working so hard to get what you want. Idk I start to get this sense lately that a lot of girls don't want to voice train or learn how to do their hair or makeup because they don't see the light at the end of the tunnel and are shamed from every angle for wanting to engage with femininity in the way our common culture does. The way every other woman is allowed to.

I loved my gf's voice before she ever "trained it" but now she sounds like herself and I'm very proud of her. Its important to experience recognition in your progress. Yeah its nice to be reminded that people still like you if you don't do anything but ya know trans women never hear? Ever? That people will still like you if you do it all. A million posts telling you to do nothing and its still beautiful but the reality is you lose people for transitioning, you get judged every step of the way and I honestly think its a lot more meaningful to praise progress rather than affirm the same ideas every cishet person would that you don't have to do anything and in fact you shouldn't. Which is the vibe online lately.

Is it valid to transition but not to conform to any idea of femininity and not change your presentation in any way? Yup, especially if you do it for the right reasons ie not feeling the need to, dysphoria not hitting you there, or euphoria not happening when you do. (wrong reasons would be going like "not worth it". Trust a girl who's been there sigh) And also people should be praised and recognized for every millijoule of work they do to be more themselves, to like themselves, for every time they invested energy in themselves, for every action of love and care towards their self and their body. Loving yourself sometimes means not shaving your legs because you couldn't give a fuck about others' opinion, and sometimes it means shaving your face so you can look at yourself happily, and doing skincare even if you're not going out. It is both the beauty of the act itself, the love and care and time freely given to yourself, and the immense fucking satisfaction of looking at yourself in the mirror and remembering "damn am I ever a baddie" (and you are)

I think this explains a lot of trans discourse on here, too. Well, a lot of queer culture generally. Realizing you’re personally trans doesn’t mean all the dumb gender stuff you were raised with goes “poof” and vanishes from your mind.
