Favorite Angela Moments 124/∞: Angela's StarKid origin story
hollanov have a countdown app on their phones so they always know how long it is until they next see each other and they use this as the basis of their good morning texts
mostly they’re sweetieful (‘25 days until i get to kiss your freckles’ ‘25 days until i get to fall asleep next to you’) and sometimes they’re sexy (‘16 days until i get to use your pretty mouth’ ‘16 days until i get to come on your cock’) and sometimes they’re silly (‘8 days until i get to drink your boring smoothies’ ‘8 days until i get to steal my hoodie back’)
sometimes ilya texts first, sometimes shane, either way they reply every morning and match the vibe of each other’s message
until it’s the day before the first boston vs montreal game of the season and by pure coincidence ilya sends ‘good morning moya lyubov it is 1 day until i get to show you how much i love you ❤️’ at the exact same time as shane sends ‘good morning it’s 1 day until i get to beat your cup losing ass 😈’

🕯️scene in twp where kit and ty are fighting someone and kit protects ty by hugging him and covering his ears while he fires his gun at the opponent 🕯️
every year small towns and indigenous communities across canada are burnt to nothing by horrific wildfires and americans go on the internet to complain about it and blame us bc the smoke has spread to their state. i’m so tired.
go yell at mark carney or your own local politicians about climate change and urge them to do more to stop it. the namaygoosisagagun first nation had their community destroyed today. you can find a link to donate to them here. donate to your local food bank. go to the beach next week when the smoke clears and you don’t have to think about it anymore while the people who’s lives have been destroyed will have to pick up the pieces and try to move forward when we are already in a huge cost of living crisis across the country.
rbing with other places you can donate to to support those impacted by the fires!
true north aid (an organization aimed at providing support to remote/northern indigenous people in canada)
canadian red cross wildfire fund
ontario spca and humane society (links to their donate page specifically aimed at supporting pets and animals in areas impacted by the fires)
and the anishinabek nation’s page where you can donate to support the namaygoosisagagun nation who had their land destroyed by the fires is still accepting donations
I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished
my favorite guy for the past 20 years
cars is obviously about lightning learning to be kinder to others but its also about him learning to be kinder to himself. he's very outwardly confident and cocky but he doesn't treat himself well. he doesn't take care of himself.
one of the first lines in the movie is him saying he didn't eat breakfast before participating in a massive race. he doesn't get new tires at the pit stop even when he really should. he has no friends, or interests/hobbies outside of racing. racing is his entire life.
so towards the end of the movie, after the road in radiator springs is fixed and he goes around the town getting new tires and a paint job, both of which can't be used during races, it shows how much he's grown. not only is he giving the shop owners the customer they've all been waiting for, he's doing something for himself that has nothing to do with his career, probably for the first time in a long time

if you don't do anything else today,
Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
This is Juneteenth.
