I personally like to think that part of why Ichirou agreed to the deal, was that he just finds Neil fucking hysterical. 

Like, Ichirou Moriyama, big bad mafia boss extraordinare, was shown the interview where Neil roasted Riko, his annoying wannabe-rival of a younger brother, on live TV and thought: "That's the funniest shit ever" 

And then he was kinda impressed by their conversation and Neil's kinda good points, so he decided to cut the annoying risk out in favor of a guy, who, aside from being a funny piece of entertainment, also promised him money from 3 pro athletes, if only they get to stay alive.

Like, that's provit babey!

Like, a lot of fics are unrealistic but the ones where Ichirou just threatens Neil out of nowhere??? He earns 80% of the income of the three best Exy players, he knows they are terrified of him and he knows that they have people they care about that he could use against them. He's gonna take care of them. I personally think that he will hunt whoever tries to hurt them and get them the best physical therapists, lawyers, agents... (Obviously not because of the goodness of his heart but because of financial reasons).

Ichirou said it himself, Neil is a nobody and because of that there is no reason why he should care about his players' personal lives.

Ill never forgive the aftg fandom for saying aftg is poorly written but loveable. it is so fucking well written. The characters are all interesting individually and as group dynamics. The plot is unexpected but always makes sense. Theres so many incredible 1 liners said. Theres humour. Theres heartfelt love. Theres angst. You can cry and you can laugh and you can get invested. Nora made characters with actual fucking personalities instead of just catalysts for neil's story. She did this so well she was able to take 2 minor characters and give them an entire sequel.

inej and kaz having issues with touch due to trauma. kaz and wylan drowning and being reborn in the ketterdam harbor. wylan and jesper feeling like they have to hide a part of themselves due to their fathers. jesper and nina being grisha with addictions. nina and matthias being raised as a weapon rather than a human. matthias and inej being deeply religious. inej and wylan making themselves smaller because of the abuse they suffered. wylan and matthias being forced into a life of crime. matthias and kaz losing their parents and siblings. kaz and jesper being thrown into the barrel because of reckless behavior involving money. jesper and matthias being taught from childhood to be afraid of grisha power. all of these characters being so different yet so similar and forever interconnected with each other because they know that no one else will understand
