@bluematchbox
random PSA, I know a lot of people use duckduckgo as a Google alternative search engine, but it always kind of annoyed me when I was using it because it felt like No Name Brand Google
I have switched to using Startpage.com and vastly prefer it. for one thing, instead of displaying an "AI summary" at the top of the search results (unless you turn it off, yes I know), it displays the first paragraph of the Wikipedia article, with link, whenever it finds one that's relevant.
also a waaayyyyy better sense of design than duckduckgo
also private, European based, least annoying search I've used lately (RIP old "don't be evil" Google)
Keeping a list of Google alternatives just in case…
i have one of those, scraped from multiple different rec posts:
Search Engines
Infinity Search is an alternative search engine with a special focus on privacy
DuckDuckGo is a popular search engine for those who value their privacy and are put off by the thought of their every query being tracked and logged. Uses bangs, ![site] for in-page search (sells your data to microsoft and draws from fucking bing)
WolframAlpha is a privately owned search engine that allows you to “compute expert-level answers using Wolfram’s breakthrough algorithms, knowledgebase, and AI technology.” A data search engine.
Boardreader is a search engine for forums and message boards. It allows you to search forums and then filter down results by date and language.
Based in France, Qwant is a privacy-based search engine that won’t record your searches or use your personal details for advertising. Uses “&” as a bang search.
Another privacy-based search engine is Search Encrypt, which uses local encryption to ensure that users’ identifiable information cannot be tracked. Metasearch across multiple engines.
Offering unbiased results from several sources, SearX is a metasearch engine that aims to present a free, decentralized view of the internet. Can be self-hosted.
Gibiru’s tagline is “Unfiltered private search” and that’s exactly what it offers. Requires AnonymoX Firefox add-on for privacy.
Disconnect allows you to conduct anonymous searches through a search engine of your choice.
Swisscows provides fully encrypted searches to protect your privacy and security. Built-in violence/porn filter cannot be overridden.
MetaGer offers “Privacy Protected Search & Find” through its anonymised search. A plugin will allow it to be made a default.
Gigablast is a private search engine that indexes millions of websites and servers real-time information without tracking your data, keeping you hidden from marketers and spammers. Variety of filtration and refinement options for searching.
Oscobo is a search engine that protects your privacy while you search the web. By not using any third-party tools or scripts, your data is protected from hacking and misuse. Has a Chrome extension to allow use in toolbar.
https://search.marginalia.nu/ an independent DIY search engine that focuses on non-commercial content, and attempts to show you sites you perhaps weren't aware of in favor of the sort of sites you probably already knew existed. Use old-school searching rather than query-based for the best results.
https://www.mojeek.com/
https://wiby.me/ - It’s goal is to index as many personalized websites as possible, and NOT commercial sites.
https://4get.ca/ it works a lot like SearX, but honestly better. It doesn’t have its own index, but pulls from many others. I think it’s the best for research, since it allows you to search for answers from different indexes, is easy to configure, add free, and avoids censorship as much as it can.
https://www.searchenginemap.com/ for more on how search engines relate to each other.
https://yep.com/ is a crawler
https://www.etools.ch/ retrieves from Google, Mojeek, Bing, and Yandex, like Searx
https://www.dogpile.com/
https://searxng.org/ (next gen Searx)
https://luxxle.com/ - possibly conservative?
https://presearch.com/ - good for academic?
https://kagi.com/smallweb - free/randomised Kagi.
Other Searchers
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.

The beach that makes you old
I can never seem to find her, but she always finds me
“you came so pretty for me.” pressing a kiss to your temple. fingers still inside you. still moving slowly. “now do it again.”
“i can’t—” you whine. hands pushing weakly at my wrist. “i just— please i need a second—”
“you don’t need a second.” curling my fingers. feeling you clench immediately despite everything. “see that? your body didn’t need a second.”
you whimpering. hips twisting. stuck between pressing against my fingers and pulling away.
“so confused.” watching you fondly. thumb finding your clit. slow circles. “your hips don’t know which way to go do they.”
“it’s too sensitive— please—”
“i know it is.” not stopping. pumping slow. deep. “that’s what makes it so good.” pulling my fingers back slightly. showing you how wet they are. “look at that. look what you did.”
you hiding your face.
“no.” catching your chin. turning you back. “look. you’re soaked, baby. you just came and you’re still this wet.” sliding back in. three fingers this time. feeling you stretch. “your body needs more. you haven’t stopped rocking against my fingers, i can feel you.”
you crying out at the stretch. hands gripping my arm.
“such a good boy/girl. that’s it.” curling all three. finding that spot. watching your back arch. “there it is.”
“please— it’s too much— i can’t do this again—”
“you said that the first time.” thumb pressing firm against your clit. “and then you came so hard you forgot your own name.” pumping faster. watching your face. “so forgive me if i don’t believe you.”
you sobbing now. tears sliding down. and still. still your hips are moving. rolling forward desperately.
“look at that.” slowing deliberately. watching your hips chase my hand. “look at what your body does.” cooing at you. “you’re chasing my fingers while you’re crying about it being too much. do you know how that looks?”
you shaking your head. embarrassed.
“so desperate.” bringing my other hand to your chest. finding your nipple. rolling it slowly. feeling you gasp. “even now. even completely oversensitive and crying. still so desperate for me.”
“please—” broken. “please i’ll do anything— please just let me—”
“let you what.” not stopping. fingers pumping. thumb circling. “say it.”
“please let me cum— please— i need to— please—”
“you need to.” repeating it softly. curling deeper. feeling you clench. “you just came, baby. and now you need to again.” thumb pressing firm. “say it. say what you are.”
“desperate—” sobbing it. “i’m desperate— please—”
“you are.” smiling at your admission. pinching your nipple. watching you gasp through the tears. “my desperate thing. crying and begging and still so wet.” pumping faster. “go ahead then. cum for me again. show me.”
your whole body clenching. harder than before. the sounds you make, like music to my ears. hips grinding forward. shaking all the way through it.
working you through every second.
“good.” soft. affectionate. watching you come down. “that’s two.” fingers still moving. gentle now. slow. “ready for three?”
“no— no please— i genuinely can’t—” dissolving. completely gone.
“shh.” pressing a kiss to your hair. your temple. fingers not stopping. just slowing. “i know. i know baby.” thumb circling lazy. “but your body can. and i’m going to show you.”
you making a sound that has no word in it. just exhaustion and want and the specific desperation of someone who has nothing left and still somehow needs more.
“that’s my good boy/girl.” murmured against your hair. “just one more. just feel it.”
working you slow and deep and completely without mercy until you break open a third time. smaller this time. quieter. but there. completely there.
then finally. finally stilling.
pulling you close immediately. both arms. your face against my chest.
“shh.” stroking your hair. your back. pressing kisses to your forehead. your wet cheeks. “you did so well. do you hear me? so so well.”
you shaking against me. trying to catch your breath.
“three times.” said so softly. so proudly. “you said you couldn’t and you did it three times.” tilting your face up. wiping your tears so carefully. “i’m so proud of you. so proud.”
you looking up at me. leaning into my touch.
“my good boy/girl.” pressing a kiss to your forehead. pulling you back in. “so perfect for me. always so perfect.“
laying you on the bed. hands sliding up your thighs. pressing a kiss to your hip. “let me see you, baby. let me look at you properly.”
you blushing at first then spreading your legs to let me look.
spreading you gently with my thumbs. just looking at first. taking my time. “so pretty.” murmured against your inner thigh. pressing a kiss there. “so so pretty.” tracing one finger along you slowly. barely touching you. “so soft here.” dragging slow. feeling you twitch. “sensitive?”
you nodding.
“good.” pressing another kiss to your inner thigh. then the other. looking up at you. “that’s exactly what i need to know, sweetheart.” circling your hole slowly. feeling you clench. “i need to know everything about how your body responds. that’s what this is for.” pressing a kiss just above your clit. feeling you take a deep breath. “all of it. every single reaction.”
spreading you a little wider. examining carefully. thoroughly. “look how wet you are already.” one finger sliding through you slowly. gathering it. “just from me looking at you, baby.” looking up at you. “that’s so good. that’s perfect.”
fingers finding your clit. just resting there at first. “i’m going to touch you here for a little while.” rubbing the softest slow circle. feeling you twitch immediately. “i need to see how sensitive you are.” another circle. slower. “how you respond to different pressures.” pressing just slightly firmer. watching your hips shift. “there we go.”
taking my time there. slow circles. different pressures. different rhythms. watching every reaction. remembering everything. “you’re doing so well.” said against your inner thigh. pressing kisses there while my thumb keeps moving. “thank you for being so patient, for me..”
then my mouth finding you. tongue slow and flat. one long stroke. feeling your whole body respond.
“shh.” hands pressing your hips down. “stay still for me, baby. i need to feel your response.” tongue circling your clit slow. feeling you try to stay still and fail. “i know. i know.” not stopping. working you slow and thorough. pulling back. looking at you. “you’re so responsive here.”
one finger finding your hole. pressing in so slow. “breathe for me, sweetheart.” feeling you clench immediately around it. “good girl. feel that? feel how well you take it?” pumping slow. just one. feeling every inch. curling gently. finding that spot. watching your back arch. “there it is…good.”
pressing a second finger in alongside the first. “a little more for me, baby.” feeling you stretch. “breathe… that’s it.” pumping both slow. spreading them slightly. feeling you clench around them. “you’re taking my fingers so well, your body knows you need my fingers inside of you.” curling both. finding that spot again. watching your whole body respond.
thumb finding your clit while my fingers keep moving. working both at once now. “this is part of the inspection..i need to see how you respond to both at the same time.” feeling you clench harder. “just like that…so good.”
mouth finding you again. lips wrapping around your clit while my fingers curl inside you. working everything at once. feeling you build.
“you’re getting close.” pulling back just enough to speak. fingers not stopping. “that’s okay. that’s exactly what i need to see.” thumb circling. fingers curling. “let it happen, baby. that’s the whole point. show me how your body responds. i need to see everything.”
feeling you tip over. clenching hard around my fingers. hips pressing forward.
working you through every second. not stopping until you’re completely done.
then stopping. pulling back. looking at you. taking you in.
“perfect.” pressing a kiss to your hip. your stomach. crawling up to look at you properly. cupping your face. “absolutely perfect. you did so well. such a good girl.” pressing a kiss to your forehead.
i really love this video it’s a poem to me

Actually…, yeah 🥹
There was recently a copyright infringement case in YA and I need everyone to know that the following sentence was in the legal decision:
“Hot, sexy, dangerous boys, central to virtually all young adult romance novels, cannot be copyrighted.”
“Regarding setting, the court held that both works taking place in Alaska high schools was not protectable because Alaska is a public place and setting a teen novel in a high school is a common genre convention.”
Freeman v. Deebs-Elkenaney | Loeb & Loeb LLP
I've read the entire decision (skimming over the purely legal precedent/definitions bit) and here are some of my favorite bits:

Lovely to see we have spaces where you can gain access to so much literature!
