Screaming .. what
This person thinking a $200-300 bag means youāre the 1%
yeah
I'm sitting here boggling at the idea of spending more than $30 on a purse, when i could put that money towards so many other things.
$300 is pricey for a bag, but Iāve spent more than that on video games, so itās hard for me to be judgey about it. Theyāre good sized bags, with a simple design that you could wear with a ton of stuff and wonāt go out of style quickly. If theyāre really good quality, they could outlast a number of my cheapo bags, since I go through a few of those a year (when I left the house). You would definitely have to have the money up front, though. (Hello, Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness.) The designer isĀ Liberian-American, though, so youād be supporting a Black-owned business.
But I havenāt seen any mention of this brand before, memes or no, so why has this suddenly shown up on Tumblr? Especially since itās pretty low priced compared to a lot of designer names. Let me google!Ā
Ah. AOC bought a somewhat pricey, but practical, designer name bag, supporting a Black immigrant both directly and by providing publicity for his business. Suddenly, a post appears on Tumblr encouraging socialist and communist-leaning people to hate people carrying this particular designer name bag.Ā
Sheās up for reelection in two months.
This is what propaganda looks like.
Anyone relate to this? I might just be sound sensitive but whenever I watch TV - it feels like the sound is always quiet when people talk and then screams at the highest volume during any action scenes. I have to keep my remote at hand at all times.
This is what we people with audio processing disorder get in a world where too many movies have terribly bad balanced audio
longcat is probably dead :(
WRONG
Awww, long catās owner got married.
this is a good post
āWhen you say āLooooongā, I think of my cat. Around 15 years ago, someone made me lots of collages of my cat. The cat is still alive and she is the longest living cat in our family!ā
āNow she is 17 years old. She does not climb to high places anymore, but she is relaxing and living her life.ā
āItās not something recent. This is the photo that we took when we made her Figureā

body positivity has largely failed because people started arguing for attractiveness and romantic prospects instead of respect and dignity
this is truly the best summary of what all of this SHOULD be about
moms be like dress feminine for this special occasion or i will fucking kill you
moms be like wear makeup, jewellery and perfume everyday or youāre a fucking hobo
Moms be like clean shave your entire body daily or your bad hygiene will attract every disease
Moms be like you need to rub your skin raw with unhealthy amounts of skin products or boys will think youāre ugly
Moms be like youāre 12 now, itās time to wax your eyebrows until you die
THIS RIGHT HERE
You guys are dangerously close to realizing specifically what kinds of people they keep from voting and why.
I want to drill this into everybodyās head:
The United States of America has the highest prison population in the world
Black Americans and Latin people make up the majority of this population (many of whom are non-violent offenders)
Federal Prisons in America require that their state keeps their prisons at a maximum occupancy at all times.
The 13th amendment did not entirely abolish slaveryā¦just one form of it. It remains legal through industrial prison system
Oh and we have privatized prisons which allow companies to actually make money off of keeping people incarceratedĀ
Hereās whatās really perverse: prisoners, who cannot vote, still get counted in the U.S. Census. The more prisoners a county has, the more representation it gets, even though the prisoners cannot vote. See how that works? The more black and brown people they lock up, the more government resources and political representation they get. Even though those prisoners have no say and cannot vote.
If county-A has a population of 50 voters but no prisons, and county-B has a population of 50 voters and 50 prisoners, the county with the prisoners gets more government funding and more political represention. This is sometimes called āprison gerrymanderingā and it is used in redistrictring.
Not so fun Fact: Southern states that reliably vote for Republicans also have the highest prison population in the United States. (source). So mass incarceration is a double whammy. Itās both a form of voter suppression and a tool to strengthen white peopleās political power.
Ending the stigma of drug use will save lives.

since this ālatinx or latineā discussion is getting attention again, iād like to point out that itās important to know how disabled people feel about it, and why you should consider using āeā instead of āxā for making gendered words neutral.
basically, a blind brazilian and anti-ableism blogger first spoke about this issue in january 2015, claiming that words such as ālatinxā and ābonitxā are actually anything but inclusive, since visually impaired people canāt understand what youāre saying, because their reading-out-loud softwares canāt pronounce these words. she then suggests that using āeā as a neutral term can be way more inclusive both to nonbinary and visually impaired people (ex.: latine, bonite). she also states that you can be neutral without usingĀ āelaā orĀ āeleā by using instead āa pessoa/that personā or simply using the personās name.
she stills talks about this issue on her page to this day, as well as many of other anti-ableism activists on facebook, and they ask us to spread the word by sharing their posts - so as a non-disabled person, thatās what iām doing. i hope this helps!

I just want to add, before anyone asks, that for spanish/portuguese speakers theĀ āxā is really hard to use because %99 of the time it doesnāt come out natural at all. We literally donāt know how to say it, like the softwares. If we use it, it usually interrumps our speech all the time because we have to think how we say it. TheĀ āxā/the sound that it makes is not usual in our languages. TheĀ āeā not only helps disabled people but also it helps us because its easier and more natural in our tongues.Ā
On top of the aforementioned reasons to shift from latinx to latine for gender neutrality, doing so will not be difficult in oral speech even for native English speakers (instead of saying /ĖlƦtÉŖnÉks/Ā = Lah-teen-ex you say /ĖlƦtÉŖnÉ/ = Lah-teen-eh).
If weāre thriving for inclusive language, we should thrive for an inclusive language that effectively includes everyone. The use of Latine (and -e suffixes for gender neutrality in Portuguese and Spanish), unlike that of Latinx (and -x suffixes for gender neutrality in Portuguese and Spanish), does not have ableist consequences, and does not exclude visually impaired people.
Like @curles said, spread the word!
