In the game/simulation, Gordon’s strength & other physical skills didn’t quite translate into the virtual surroundings as his reflexes did.
It takes most of the Science Team by surprise when they see him climb tall fences with ease or even parkour his way through an area.
“I can’t no-clip… but I have my own shortcuts.”, he says offhandedly, sitting on the edge of the flat roof of a small abandoned building, kicking his legs as the Science Team look up at him from below.
“Do you do this… often?” Bubby asked in slight bewilderment.
“It seems like you have experience with doing this, judging by how fast you got up there!”, Coomer said as he retraced the unusual path Gordon took up the building with his eyes.
“Hm, well, if you’re part of a subculture that the feds generally hate for doing things that are in the grey-zone of legality while also not respecting their "law enforcement”… you better learn a proper way to scatter.“, Gordon replied with a slight grin on his face- "You pick up a thing or two if you’re friends with punks, is all I’m saying.”
Next thing they knew, Gordon made his way back down along a drainpipe.
Tommy winced slightly at the clunky metal noises and the way the pipe wavered slightly under Gordon’s weight in the process.
Gordon put a hand on Tommy’s shoulder, a knowing look on his face.
“Before you ask, yeah… I got my ass hurt several times by doing this. But that’s just the process of learning, really… but I’d take that over getting busted for keying a row of cop cars any day.”, he said, letting out a warm laugh. He stopped, with a curious look down, as he felt a slight tug on his leather jacket- finding Benrey staring up at him with big pupils.
“…."Us”? Benrey, you can fucking no-clip anywh-“
"Wanna unlock a new skill tree though, bro. Please? Give us all the good tutorial? Will listen to you to learn all the QuickTime events! Pretty please and thank you?”
Gordon blinked, feeling slightly flattered that Benrey wanted to learn something from him, aside from the common human things he’d been teaching the eldritch virus with a great amount of patience.
This however felt weirdly personal to Gordon… and yet he found himself feeling excited by the idea that Benrey and the rest of Science Team were curious about his Real Life skillset. The music had been one thing, his DIY skills another… but this was something else entirely.
They had a clear interest in joining him in the type of rule-breaking he was used to outside of their shared time in virtual spaces. They had openly shared and showed off their skill sets in their realm of reality to him… now he could do the same for them in return.
Gordon nodded to himself.
“You know what? Consider the tutorial quest started.”
