JasperDasper started out just curious why everything had suddenly become about trans people and questioning some of the sources used in a book. He came out of it, 4 years later, with a 5 hour long video that connects all transphobia to less than 60 people. (I'm not joking. literally every single transphobic rhetoric and bill passed is because of these 50 or so people.)

So the government just defunded PBS and NPR which is fucked. That being said, the public can cover the damage if we orginize and donate.

Only about $1.60 of tax dollars per US citizen per year are spent on the public broadcasting budget. NPR and PBS offer beong able to make small monthly donations, some being 7$ per month or lower if you want.

If you want to donate 1.60$ per month to your local station, you can multiply how much funding they get from you by 12. If you do their monthly donation of $7 per month, your donation can equal the tax dollars of 54 people spent on public broadcasting per year.

Can anyone think of any reason why we couldn't use a liquid oil candle/lamp instead of a traditional solid wax candle for deity work? We would put liquid oil (sunflower oil, olive oil, something like that) in a jar with a wick designed for such a purpose. We could even decorate the jars.

Because of previous endeavors, we already have those materials available, and it's much cheaper to replenish than nice jar candles. We've just never seen it mentioned anywhere.

So that might depend on the deity, but oil lamps (including the diy ones you mentioned) are commonly used in folk magic for various purposes. If you would typically load the candle with herbs and oils, you can drop those into the lamp oil (or whatever oil you are using) and pray over it the same way as the candle. Unless your deity specifically wants the candle, I don't see a reason why this wouldn't work

For various reasons I switched out to using entirely hurricane lamps and kerosene instead of candles.

It works fine for any purpose. You can also make your own cotton wicks for various purposes by braiding different color cotton strands (I use crochet thread).

I hadn't thought of using a liquid oil lamp though, thanks for the idea.
