Eglee & Santiago in Interview with the Vampire
250 years and most native tribal groups continue to not be federally recognized. Embarrassing!
Hey so a small thing that literally everyone who sees this is capable of is correcting any “used to” statements about native people in this country.
“Native people used to live in this National Park” No. They still do.
“Native people used to tell these stories-” No. They still do.
“Native people used to use this plant as a natural remedy-” No. They still do.
Better yet, familiarize yourself with the tribes local to you. Odds are, they do not yet have federal recognition. You can still read the stories they have to share, you can share their ongoing battle for recognition with others, you can sign petitions and spread the word to others to do so as well. But do something.
In Japanese, they don’t say “moon,” they say “tsuki,” which literally translates to “moon,” and I think that’s how language works.
Hey its been at least 9 years anything changed?
nope! all quiet on the linguistic front. i am a girl now though
staff killed her for this
WHAT she got nuked??
Trans people existing violates community guidelines
I wasn’t kidding
Reject the idea that there is such a thing as high art and low art!!! Read smut! Write horror! Watch low budget shorts! Listen to a local garage band!!!
Read challenging classics! Write poetry!!! Watch foreign films!! Listen to experimental music!!!!!! Let a thousand blossoms bloom motherfucker!!!!!
really humiliating trying to write horror like they went into the creepy house and there was a creepy ghost and the creepy guy with a creepy knife and everything was very creepy are you scared yet and thats like literally not how suspense and tension actually work but like all u can do is say well maybe something else was creepy?
tumblr is great bc its like a diary where I can take other peoples diary entries and glue them into my own diary
HELP like immediately when i hear “it’s for the girls and the gays” i know whatever it is is gonna be dogshit
what's so fascinating about jopping is that it starts out with this massive instrumental and then the first words are I don't even care
everything you see on tumblr is biased towards the perspectives of the types of people who post a lot on tumblr. this is essential to remember
this is how i feel abt euphoria
i'm getting the sense some of you are not actually forklift certified.
well damn . egg on my face
THE PLOT THICKENS @averagejoey2000 explain yourself
I can't believe this is how I'm finding out that I got a scam forklift cert.
I took the cargo ops class at school but my teacher explained that it doesn't give a certification and I'd only be okay for ship's crane and the school forklifts. she said I could take an online exam and get my cert. I paid 60 bucks.
I'm googling and I'm seeing a lot of resources saying that the online programs cover the classroom part of the exam but not the in person practical aspect.
29 CFR 1910.178 (l)(2)(ii)
but I did the in person practical shit at school.
the back of the card even had fancy numbers on it. I couldn't have known that this isn't the one. this website sounded more official than certifyme.net, and there wasn't one with a .gov address.
so, I emailed OSHA, and they said that so long as I live and work in California, there's no such thing as forklift certification. I have to be told how to do it every time I get the job.
Update: I took a certification class in shipboard Material Handling Equipment at my federal job. *now* I'm forklift certified, but only on ships and piers and only for this company, but also rated to forklift explosives and hazardous materials. Also I'm a woman now.
Watched a documentary about abuse and advice one guy said to give children was, "Tell them that if someone is hurting them, to tell someone - and don't just tell one person. Tell as many people as possible, and keep telling as many people as possible until the abuse stops." and i really liked that
Bc so many ppl focus on the idea of telling A Trusted Adult, but even a well-meaning individual can fuck up and let abuse fall through the cracks or not know what to do
Whereas if a child tells LOADS of adults AND other kids, there's far less opportunity for an abuser to do damage control
Consistently telling their story and spreading it around disempowers the abuser to control and coerce the flow of information, or to utilise gaps and weaknesses in systems of reporting or welfare to isolate the child
Just really good advice. Not suprised I don't hear it more often.
Despite the Everything™ I'm dying to see how it ends
The funniest thing to me about episode 4 is how Armand was telling Lestat “hey, I thought our relationship was something it clearly wasn’t. I projected a lot of stuff on to you, I was obsessed with you, and it was deeply unhealthy. I apologize for that and I’m moving on.”
And Lestat’s response was to basically go “excuse me, you are not allowed to stop being obsessed with me, I cast Diss Track at 9th level.” Because as much as Lestat might like to pretend he wants Armand to fuck off and die, Lestat de Abandonment Issues NEEDS Armand to be obsessed with him. It is the only reliable thing in his world. The people he loves will hate him, ignore him, leave him, but Armand will always want him.
Armand’s obsession with him is one of Lestat’s only stable sources of validation, and that is both heartbreaking and hilarious.
love when a nish expression sneaks outta armand <3
