They tried fixing the time in Fields of Mistria I think last year, you can choose between the original time, then a middle time and then longest. I think it's in options. I had to put it to longest as well and I still feel like it's too short especially cause the game wants you to have lot's of animals. But without a lot of the quality of life stuff stardew has (animal feeder etc.) it's more of a chore to me :P and I'm done by like 12 pm in game which I think is somewhat ridicolus. As far as I know they have added an animal feeder now, still dunno how exactly that works I haven't played 1.0 much. But yeah the time issue I also had. Is it very charming but my personal gripe is like you said in stardew there's a bit of depth and also negative aspects (like the on going war or just characters being questionable) and I guess that's personal preference but I like when theres some shady stuff in games.
Oh man, that last part... yeah, I think the reason Stardew has kept me interested for so long is just that, that there's a little more to the premise and the characters than the surface level. I'm sure I'm romanticizing it a bit because I've been headcanoning it for years. And I'm sure that FoM has more to offer, but I was worried it would lean more Coral Island / Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Don't get me wrong, those are good games too, but everyone is so bland in those games. I had a really hard time with Coral Island because of this. I'm not asking for all of the characters to be assholes, but it kinda feels like those games are allergic to making the player uncomfortable for more than 2 seconds. That just gets a little boring after a while (didn't help that I didn't really enjoy the way the mini-games worked in Coral Island).
