|When Dreams Come True| In 2008 I had the pleasure of seeing this amazing production on Broadway and it changed my life. Seeing people who looked like me, putting on a show at such a high caliber, wasn't something I saw often. My Jaw dropped the entire show, I realized that I not only wanted this to be my career, but I wanted to be in this show!!! Herer you go: |Suit Up!| It's a war out there. Which battle are you fighting? With all of the outrageous and unexplainable things that have been happening as of lately, I've been overwhelmed with a grocery list of emotions like anger, sadness, fear, hopelessness, helplessness, and rage, just to name a few. It has been difficult trying to figure out how I can do my part and where my purpose in all this is. "I have to do something!", I say to myself every day, extremely saddened as I scroll past another heartbreaking hashtag. One day while having one of my "conscious talks", I rambled-on to a friend about how this is all not fair, how I was scared for my life and that I needed to do something. After I scanned through every emotion, he simply explained to me that the best way to do something, is to show up. Show up being the best you and execute everything you do to the greatest of your ability. He went on to explain how I should never let anyone stiffen my walk or allow fear to cripple how I move about this world. That would be a huge disservice to myself and any cause I would want to fight for. Being the best version of yourself is the first step in making a change. Educate yourself, because when you know better, you do better. I've decided to Suit Up and Show Up every day, not only for myself but for my communities and causes. Some battles will be conquered and others will last lifetimes.
