I've never seen a more deserved cat slap
you know how sometimes a song will suddenly pop into your head and then something in your brain will make you need to listen to it 50 million times? I and all my neighbours are about to be sick of this song
btw idk how well known July Talk is outside of Canada but the gravely voice here is the guy on the right lol

I’ve had tumblr for 4 years but some of you bitches have had it for a decade. It’s time to seek penance
wait I’m curious now . Reblog this with how long u’ve been on tumblr for. Dating back to ur oldest blog ever !!!
save me, rice mixed with some bullshit
a lot of critiques of Youth Behaviors should take into account we now live in a world where said behaviors can be recorded, posted online, and be seen all over the world, and this was not always the case. not only that, but outrage drives engagement on social media, so you're more likely to come across inflammatory content. it kind of creates an altered perception of reality
so. i just learned that my entirely me-written resume flags as being AI-written by automated HR systems for a few writing quirks and the fact that i followed all the rules of good resume writing, which is apparently a telltale sign of AI use in this fucking hellworld. i've been desperately applying to jobs that i am massively overqualified for for months with no response, not even an interview, and now i find out that at least part of the reason is because some fucking moron decided that following the rules every career advisor has given me for a decade means i cheated and should be disqualified. the ai bubble cannot pop soon enough. what the actual fuck.
"frequent use of action-result sentences. bullet points all start with action verbs. no career gaps." girl what the fuck are you talking about. that's just resume writing advice being followed. i just did what i was told. it's a fucking resume. you're supposed to do all that stuff. what the fuck do you mean it looks ai generated and wouldn't pass basic detection systems?????????? for following the resume writing rules????????????
wishing every AI bro and ceo a very [REDACTED]
Awesome
This dog is so inbred holy cow
I somehow missed that the dog was born literally the day after Charlie Kirk's death, giving the name an appearance of suggesting that Charlie Kirk was reincarnated as an inbred Pomeranian.
The way Americans attempt to show reverence and honor gives disrespect and blasphemy a run for their money.
I'm dead convinced that a significant portion of AI companies' revenue is spent paying off every major media outlet NOT to point out all the obvious problems with it + creating legions of bots and bullshit articles online to hype AI up
cause like. apart from the (potential) exception of writing code, there is not really anything useful that a Large Language Model can do.
it imitates patterns in the text that it takes in
that's fundamentally how it works
if a Large Language Model can produce text that looks like something a human created, that doesn't mean it can do a human's job, it means that the paperwork/plan/document it's being used to create no longer fucking means anything
Yes, haha funny, the AI is bamboozled by spelling, but seriously: I asked Google the same question 5 different times just now, and not only did I get 5 incorrect answers, I got 5 completely different incorrect answers.
The fact that they're different every time demonstrates just how much of an LLM's output is up to random chance. This is how LLMs imitate human language: each stage of constructing the text has built-in randomness, just like how human language has variation and flexibility.
This is my problem with using these things in the workplace. Like, imagine you're using an LLM to fill out a report of an accident that happened, or to write dietary recommendations for a patient, or to give feedback on a paper a student wrote...really anything you can think of.
Even if the LLM-generated text doesn't say anything technically flat-out wrong, the words and details are still randomized instead of being chosen by you for an actual reason.
Using an LLM for these tasks means it doesn't matter to you exactly what you write, what words you use, what details you include, or what meaning it has, just that it looks like you wrote something.
using LLMs ultimately just makes the work you're using them to do less meaningful
like, let me put it this way, you can use a LLM to write a recommendation letter for a student because it looks like you wrote it. You're benefiting from the fact that written text, up until recently, necessarily had a person that wrote it.
But if using a LLM becomes the standard way of writing recommendation letters, recommendation letters become worthless and no school or institution would bother to ask for one, since all it means is you got someone to press a button for you
and what if I told you guys that virtually everyone you ever meet will turn out to be really interesting if you give them a chance
some real miserable fucks in the notes I fear
I'm not even saying you have to talk to every single person you meet. and you're certainly not going to LIKE all of them. but every person does have a rich interior life and complex feelings and unique worldview. sorry.
hey man how's it going
sorry for getting self righteous about uuuuh my belief in the innate wonder of human life and connection I guess
hey man how's it going
wow. made it less than three months in
this is truly one of the most tumblr posts i've ever seen. i know chronically online people exist in all corners of the internet but i feel like this is the only place where someone could say something as uncontroversial as "you will find out that people have personalities when you talk to them" and get responses like "oh so you're making the ABLEIST assertion that i should FORCE MYSELF to push past my SOCIAL ANXIETY to talk to BIGOTS????" amazing work, guys
would you?
would you fuck a grinch
yes
no
CAN I JUST SIT DOWN
lmfao the Scots in town for the World Cup have made a pilgrimage to Boston's world-famous Cop Annihilating Slide
The amount of safety features incorporated into modern cars is unreal. I've seen crashes where the car flipped over and the occupant only had minor injuries. My dad was t-boned by someone speeding off the highway and walked away with a broken arm. The car was completely smashed except for the passenger compartment, which was curtained on all sides with airbags. That one manufacturer has decided they are exempt from implementing all these advancements disgusting and terrifying
When I was going through driver's ed I was taught that the steering column would stab through your chest if you crashed head on and that was just the way it was. We do not want to go back, not even a little
The point of car safety features is that the car is supposed to die in an accident so you don't have to. Your car should be a pile of smoking rubble after an accident, and you should be fine.
I totaled my first car. Like, the car itself just stopped where the windshield met the dashboard. Ahead of that point, there was no more car. It was gone.
Me? I had some really spectacular bruises and a lil friction burn on my nose from where Mr. Airbag and Ms. Glasses had a disagreement. That's it. That's it.
I was driving a little tiny coupe and went more or less head-on with a pickup truck. The entire engine and hood of my car was twisted rubble that was not connected to the rest of the car afterward. I sat down on the verge, about twenty or thirty feet from the accident, while I waited for the cops and EMTs to work their way through the traffic backup to get to us, and found that I was sitting beside one of the headlights of my car. The whole entire headlight, bulb and reflector and cover and frame and all.
All I had were bruises and that little friction burn. That's it.
Crumple zones save lives. So do seatbelts and airbags; half the bruising was the exact shape of my seatbelt in livid crimson and black on my torso. It was and remains the most insanely intense bruising I have ever experienced in my life. BUT IT WAS JUST BRUISING!! Unpleasant, sure, but eminently survivable and didn't even require much treatment beyond not wearing a bra for a few days. But all the force that created that spectacular bruising was force that wasn't flinging me through the windshield or impaling me on the steering column. My car crumpled and crushed and dissolved but it held me safe and secure and protected.
Crumple zones save lives. You do not want your car to look undamaged after the accident, because that means it made like a Newton's Cradle and passed every bit of the impact straight through to your soft and highly crushable body.
#it's worth noting the tesla is being towed#it's not in a drivable condition#chances are the internals are fucked#given how difficult repairs on one of those would be it's probably also now scrap
"Humans are the crumple zone" is basically how tech bros view people who aren't on their tax bracket in general. This makes for a perfectly apt visual metaphor.
I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?
Don't become a housewife.
And if you do become a housewife, take steps to protect yourself. Make sure you’re legally married, for starters; stay-at-home girlfriends have very little legal recourse to claim their partner’s assets in a breakup. Make sure your name is on the house deed/rental agreement, and have your car in your name, even if your spouse is paying for it. Have your spouse transfer money every month into an account solely in your name, so you can buy yourself things without needing permission, but also so you can save up to leave if needed.
If your spouse fights you on any of this, then don’t quit your job. The tradwife to poverty pipeline is real, and so is financial abuse.
also, many women/people experience controlling behaviour and domestic violence from their partner for the first time during pregnancy. don’t risk thinking “he’s just stressed, it’ll get better when the baby comes” because it won’t. neither you and your child will ever be safe with that man. get out as early and safely as you can
