The chimera had placed the file between him and Liam in his own bed, not daring to take the damn thing into the beta’s room. His name written in bold black letters making the betta take a deep breath.
“What is this, Theo?” The beta’s voice was calmed but slightly hesitant, as if he was worried he was intruding in something personal.
“My file… everything they did to me.” Theo’s own voice felt foreign to him, detached, as he looked at the thick cream folder with his name.
“Theo… this is—” The beta took a deep breath, trying to hold back a growl. “This file is thick.”
“They tried a lot of things with me, because I was the only one who kept surviving. It was like that for a while.”
Liam’s feelings were divided. Part of him was in awe at everything the chimera survived, but the other part, that dangerous part of himself, wanted to rip and maim those who put the chimera through it. If Sebastian hasn’t done it before him, he would already be on his way to do so.
“Did you read it—”
“No and I’m not ready to read it either. I just…” The chimera ran his finger through his hair, grounding himself. “I just wanted you to know that I have it. But I won’t read it yet.”
“Okay.”

“Fuck…” Isaac voice was barely above a whisper, but he knew his baby brother had heard himm, which didn’t make him feel good.
There, on the mud and stepped on grass were multiple bullet casings, too many to feel comforted, enough to make like he was punched on the gut. There were enough to confirm that Malia and Theo were lucky to have escaped. Just as he was leaning down to grab a few of the casings, he heard Liam answering his phone.
“Lydia? Wait, slow down, I’ll put you on speaker.”
“Liam! Look for the flower!” Both bothers looked at each other confused, not understanding what the banshee meant, as it often happened with the strawberry blonde.
“Lydia, what flower?” Liam voice was calm even when the beta felt everything but, but he knew better than to doubt the banshee.
“The bullets! The engraving is a nightshade! It’s a bell shaped flower.” There were muffled sounds coming from her side of the line, as if she was frantically moving around. “You have to find the casings, they won’t survive for long!”
It was as if ice cold water had been poured down both wolves. They won’t survive for long. The words echoed in their minds as if they couldn’t understand what the words meant.
“Lydia—”
“I can’t explain now! Get the casing and come here!”

“Lydia—”
“It was my fault…” The banshee didn’t even look at him as she said the words, almost if she was trying to convince herself more than to convince Theo.
The chimera moved and kneeled in front of this vulnerable and shaky creature that was his best friend, placing his hands on hers, a grounding point, warmth, something to help her focus.
“What happened?”
“I didn’t know… Theo, I promise I didn’t know.” The strawberry blonde looked at him with pleading eyes and Theo feelt something broke at the sight. He has never seen the banshee like this.
“Rousse, look at me. What. Happened?” The chimera’s voice was calm but firm and the defeated look in the banshee’s face only made it clear that whatever she said would completely piss him off.
“I had sex with Stiles.” That wasn’t what the chimera was expecting to hear, but before he could ask her to elaborate she kept talking. “He had been working on that case for so long and finally came home… I didn’t felt different when I saw him, didn’t feel as excited as I did before, but I ignored it and pushed it to the back of my mind. We ended up in bed and somewhere along the way I realized, I don’t want him in the way I did anymore.”
Theo sighed, noticing how the sadness in Lydia’s scent started to overpower every other chemosignal and he just moved, sitting beside the girl in his and Liam’s bed and wrapping his arms around her in a protective embrace.
“Lydia, it’s okay.”
It was okay, she logically could understand it but emotionally she felt wrecked. Tears rolled down her face as she looked up at the chimera. “I cried after we finished. I broke down and he screamed, not understanding that I have changed while he has away, that my feelings changed so I ran… I barely dressed myself and ran.”

Ever since adopting Lyra both supernaturals have realized that there wasn’t much they would say no to when their baby girl gave them big puppy eyes. It doesn’t matter if it was a new doll, new clothes, a run through the preserve or pizza for dinner, they couldn’t say no. Which is how their dads and daughter dates started a few months ago.
Every two weeks on Saturdays Lyra got to chose an activity for the day. They had used tiaras and drinked tea with Lyra as their daughter was dressed in a princess costume. They have gone to the movies and they have gone to the carnival, getting their faces painted as glittery butterflies because their kid wanted the three of them to match.
They loved every second of it. Every second of Lyra’s bright laughter and happiness made everything worth it, including the pain in the ass of getting flitter of their faces.
This time though it took a little bit of convincing, their little girl told them a week ago what her chosen activity was. She wanted to get her nails done and wanted her dads to get them done with her too.

“Are we really doing this?”
Liam knew the answer was yes, but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to get inside the creepy burned ruins of the former Hale house. The place has always felt heavy, making him want to turn the other way and run as far away as he could. But that wasn’t an option when Brett was already walking towards the house with Theo close behind him with a serious expression.
“Come on Li, we have to keep an eye on Brett. He has zero self preservation skills.”
