"When Harlem Was" by Eric Bowman.
More studies of Dr. Ryland Grace from Project Hail Mary, ft Rocky, aka the two bestest of friends ever from the best movie and also book ever oh my god
One of my fave moments is when Grace draws PPE onto Rocky's dome, so he can be included in big science time D:
Bro is cooking
Curling up in his arms, finally safe
Also @4digitan here's that blanket stealing I said I wanted to draw lmao
Hopefully that's most of the bloodymary brain rot out of my system enough to focus on my physics exam
Day 3. Jason kidnaps Dick
First doodle requested by someone who purchased from my Etsy for car help :) Stratt packed cupcakes for the crews birthday
I have a headcanon that the Skittles and Twizzlers on board The Hail Mary were put there per Carl's request.
Just the mental image of Carl watching Grace get transported after being sedated. A man, who prior to that moment, his most vivid memory consists of them finding world changing discoveries with plywood, duck tape, and copious amounts of sour skittles. A man who he associates with the exhilarating feeling of wonder and life. A teacher teaching, a scientist finding, a man living.
But suddenly, that's not his most vivid memory. Suddenly, what first comes to mind when he thinks of Dr. Ryland Grace is the image of him running away, of chasing him through the compound, of the look on his face when they do inevitably catch up to him. He can't hear the excited laughter of the previous memories without them eliciting the desperate pleas for life.
I wonder if he ever gets to see the videos. How would he feel if he knew that his name was the first one that Grace remembers. Foggy like the thing he misses most about earth.
Genuinely, can't stop thinking about how his name is Carl, like the fog that covers San Francisco is named Karl, and Grace misses the fog. I'm gonna be ill.
let's throw 1,000 skittles into each other's mouths and not tell anyone
Rocky mate bad as hell!
My take on Adrian! Inspired by desert bloom variscite ( it’s very pretty go look it up)
I fear I am biting off more than I can chew but if Ryland Grace can save earth I can figure out how to make a quilt
I found some references on Insta that you might find useful for making it!

how to get out of your own way
[ID: A Project Hail Mary comic. Grace is frowning as he works on a report, and Carl asks from offscreen, "Have you ever thought about getting out of your own way?" Grace, confused: "Huh?" Carl, unimpressed: "You're smart, man, but you cut yourself off halfway through all your sentences. Why?"
Grace hunches in and says, "Guess I was bullied a lot growing up, haha-" Carl cuts in. "So was I." Grace: "What? Really?" Carl pops Skittles in his mouth as he replies, "I grew up fat and black, I got my fair share of shit. Sure, it got to me, but I came around to the idea that those teenage dipshits were wrong about me. What's your excuse, man?"
Grace says uncomfortably, "I never- Uh. I, well-" Carl looks very unimpressed and says, "See? You're doing it again. Say what you mean to say." Grace slumps. "I guess I never thought about it that way." Carl: "Yeah. I know. That's why I said it. Get out of your own damn way."
We see the first panel in color: Grace floating outside the Hail Mary, surrounded by the red glow of Astrophage, as Carl says, "And once you do that? Hoo, man. You'll be unstoppable."
Back to black and white, Grace smiles emotionally and says, "Thanks, Carl." Carl stands up to leave and points at his paper. "Remember, Stratt wants that report by end of day." Grace hunches again and scowls, "Thank you, Carl." End ID]
When I talk about Clark being terrifying the second he stops actively trying to seem non-threatening, this is what I mean. Even during a fight, Superman tends to show a ton of humanity on purpose.
Here, iirc, Clark isn’t even really angry. He’s more annoyed, because Mannheim has gotten ahold of weaponry that can actually hurt him and, y’know, keeps trying to kill him. Clark’s intent here is to disarm Mannheim and capture him, presumably for arrest by the cops.
And with just that show of annoyance, plus Clark using his heat vision non-lethally and calmly but firmly advancing, suddenly Superman appears to be a horror movie monster.
