Lan Napa & WiFi Piggy v.s. Giant Turtle
…..NAPA CABBAGE IS TOTALLY TURTLE FOOD =u=llll
The latest audio drama reminded me…I forgot to post this here…XD
*this is a joke version of the extra chapter Friends of Evil.
Xue Yang, Jin GuangYao, Song Lan, & Xiao XingChen of Mo Dao Zu Shi
Command of ChenQing 陳情令
My design for Instrument (androgynous) Spirit ChenQing~ fighting for its master YiLing Patriarch ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
ChenQing saw how no one believed its master’s words, and then when its master was gone ChenQing had to witness the world spread rumors and lies about their master.
so, ChenQing lost faith in words.
That’s why ChenQing doesn’t like to talk
…even though its name means ‘to confess’
How to react when you hear others talk sh*t about your significant other –WangJi guqin Style.

Bonus:
in episode 38 when Song Zichen meets A-Qing and she asks him to describe Xiao Xingchen, can any native speakers tell me what he actually says
not too sure what the exact netflix subs are but, if I were to translate directly:
aq: are you good friends with this daozhang?
sl: *after some hesitation* (I like to think that at this point of time he’s recalling all the nasty things he called xxc when they last met and on the inside he’s thinking… “am I really worthy to call myself a good friend of his?” ok but I digress) yes.
aq: do you really know him? then how tall is this daozhang? is he beautiful or ugly? what is his sword like?
sl: we are similar in height. he’s good looking. engraved on his sword are the words “shuanghua”
mika–82 is absolutely correct in all respects but I would like to chip in and unpack “good-looking” juuuust a bit
Song Lan says doesn’t just say 相貌不錯 xiangmaobucuo / he’s not bad-looking (concise, but ambivalent) or 他長得很好看 tazhangdehenhaokan / he’s very good-looking (colloquial, but perhaps too pedestrian?). Nope, he goes for a full-on 相貌甚佳 xiangmaoshenjia (literary and extreme).
相貌 xiangmao means ‘appearance’ or ‘features’ ‘or countenance’
甚 shen is more than ‘very’ – definitely an ‘extremely’ at the very least. It’s worth noting that all the words/phrases 甚 shen is a part of focus on extremity. Off the top of my head, 甚至 shenzhi means ‘even so’ in the sense of 他甚至這個都做了!/ he even did THAT! 食甚 shishen refers to the moment of totality in an eclipse. I can keep going if requested; there’s a biblical translation that’s surfacing in my brain but we don’t need that right now
佳 jia is a whole-ass mood, and by mood I mean like, literary thing. First of all, it’s the highly literary version of your regular, run-of-the-mill 好 hao / ‘good.’ Like 甚 shen, it carries connotations of the superlative and extreme. But most importantly, it’s half of a very well-known binome, 佳人 jiaren. Literally translated, 佳人 jiaren means “excellent person.” Specifically, it’s used to refer to beautiful women.
How beautiful? Well, Helen of Troy would certainly be considered a 佳人 jiaren, let’s put it that way.
This is getting a lil excessive for one character, but one poem and translation and then I’m done, I promise
There’s this famous Han Dynasty poem by 李延年 Li Yan Nian:
北方有佳人,/ In the north there is a beautiful person,
绝世而独立。/ who stands alone, peerless in this world.
一顾倾人城,/ One look will topple human cities
再顾倾人国。/ Another look will topple human kingdoms
宁不知倾城与倾国?/ How could you not know of the toppling of cities, the toppling of kingdoms?
佳人难再得。/ Such a beautiful person will be hard to find again.
(side note: this poem featured in Zhang Yimou’s 2004 wuxia film, 十面埋伏 House of Flying Daggers, in which the absolutely legendary 章子怡 Zhang Ziyi sings this poem and dances to it. Incidentally, she’s also playing a seeing character pretending to be blind)
From this poem, you get the Chinese idiom 傾國傾城 qingguoqingcheng, which literally means “to topple kingdoms and cities,” which refers to a specific kind of beauty that has literally (okay maybe only partially) led to the fall of dynasties. I’m not even kidding. There’s literally a commonly-known group called the 四大美女 sidameinv / the Four Great Beauties who are all famously beautiful women in Chinese history (or historical literature) who were – for better or for worse – attributed with overthrowing dynasties and changing the outcome of wars because they were too good-looking.
(except 王昭君 Wang Zhaojun. Everyone in her story has too much good sense for a kingdom to be lost, but she does cement an alliance)
BUT BACK TO SONGXIAO what I’m trying to say is that Song Lan didn’t just say that Xiao Xingchen was “nice-looking,” he basically said that Xiao Xingchen was smokin’ hot except like, in two characters and blanketed with literary respectability.
I am living for all these explanations. They slapped me with the reality of how ignorant I am and I'm loving it. Thank you soooo much
JC Love Month 2020 Day 13
Balance
Day 13 of JC Love Month brings more Mingcheng, but also some shitty parenting by JC’s parents, threatening to leave JC completely without support. Well, they didn’t count on NMJ, who is not going to let that happen!
Jiang Cheng feels numb when his mother hangs up on him.
He’s glad that he’s already inside the house when he accepted the call, because he doesn’t actually want anyone to see him this shell-shocked, and it takes Jiang Cheng long, long minutes before he can gather enough strength to get to his and Wei Wuxian’s apartment.
He distantly wonders if they’ll still be able to afford it after today, but that thought makes Jiang Cheng shake, because the other alternative is to go back to his parents.
And he cannot do that.
Jiang Cheng is pretty sure that he’s in some kind of shock, because everything feels just the tiniest bit off, but he guesses the reality of the situation will hit him hard, once he’s inside the apartment and the words had some time to settle.
Jiang Cheng gets the door open after the second try—his fingers still shaking too much—but instead of the blessed silence that tells him Wei Wuxian is at Lan Wangji’s he’s met with several voices and laughter.
He quickly debates if it’s still too late to turn around and flee, but then Wei Wuxian bounds around the corner and gives him a huge smile.
“Shijie came!” he yells, clearly beyond excited, “and she brought Huaisang and Mingjue-ge as well!”
“Oh,” Jiang Cheng says and then abruptly turns around to take his shoes off and to compose himself as best as he can.
He cannot break down in front of his siblings, his crush, and his childhood friend.
So instead of curling up and wishing for death, he straightens and plasters his usual scowl on his face when he turns back around to Wei Wuxian.
“I didn’t know they were supposed to stop by,” he forces out but Wei Wuxian only laughs.
“Shijie ran into them and she just dragged them along, you know how she is,” Wei Wuxian tells him and pulls Jiang Cheng towards the living-room.
Jiang Cheng knows exactly how his sister is. The more people she can fuss over, the better.

I know this is way old and already talked about, but I’m still not over LWJ saying “Let him cry, when he becomes tired, drag him inside” about WWX throwing a tantrum outside Cloud Recesses.
Instead of LWJ, now 30 something, seeing this behavior and thinking “This?? This was the man I fell so hard for, who I thought about every minute of every day???”
He just goes “Oh yes. That’s definitely him. The love of my life. God I’m so happy he’s back.”
Anyway, I love WangXian.

do u ever think about how lan wangji and jiang yanli would’ve been the softest siblings-in-law who would cook for wei ying together 😭😭
thinking about jiang cheng whos been hurt so much he doesnt know how to express affection anymore, and his nephew who so easily does it for him. baby jin ling helping his uncle heal with the unconditional and sincere love he gives him
authors note: jin ling and his uncles get drunk and find out why JC was blacklisted by all female cultivators
—
It doesn’t happen every month, and it’s not like planned or anything, but every couple of months, with no rhyme or reason, both of Jin Ling’s uncles will come to Koi Tower at the same time.
Jiang Cheng comes armed with Yunmeng wine and weak excuses as to why he’s suddenly shown up and Wei Wuxian will come with a crate of Emperor’s Smile and no excuse at all – just a huge smile and a hug and stupid words like: “I missed you!”
Jin Ling doesn’t really say anything when they suddenly show up like this. He just orders the kitchen to bring out two bottles of Lanling wine and to prepare uncle Jiang’s favorite assortment of nuts and uncle Wei’s preferred dried and spiced sliced brisket
When all of his orders are prepared and Jin Ling and his uncles are sat around the table in Jin Ling’s room, they place all the bottles of alcohol on the table and proceed to get rip roaring drunk.
It shouldn’t be a good time – it really shouldn’t. Jiang Cheng is ornery on the best of days, and alcohol does not mellow him out, like, at all, and drunk Wei Wuxian only gets (if possible) more annoying, and Jin Ling usually spends more than half the night just mediating between his two uncles, but…
But Jin Ling looks forward to these nights more than he’d ever care to admit.

so I can’t gif but I don’t think we talk enough about Wen Zhuliu, or this moment
the beginning of episode 19 is A Lot (the first time through, I literally went back to episode 18 like “wait did I miss something what’s going on,” but nope), and I know I personally got extremely distracted by the worldbuilding Wei Wuxian offers in his defiance to Wen Chao (i.e. becoming a terrifying ghost after death and haunting the hell out of the Wen Clan, which, well, he basically did anyway).
but we see Wei Wuxian get kicked through the doorway (whereupon he immediately does the Chest Grab of Pain, which becomes coded in the rest of the show as “his lack of a golden core is hurting him right now” but we don’t find out about this until episode 46), followed by Wen Zhuliu entering and looking at his hand
guys
Wen Zhuliu knows
Wen Zhuliu knows that Wei Wuxian has no golden core at this point, and he looks at his hand like that’s weird and I’m pretty sure I never touched this one and how can that be?
and while this is comedy gold for the rest of the episode (every time Wen Chao tries to intimidate Wei Wuxian with melting his golden core, Wei Wuxian is like “lol good luck with that” and Wen Zhuliu is like “…do I tell him now?”), I can’t help but wonder if Wen Zhuliu silently figured out the golden core transfer
Wei Wuxian is thrown, golden core-less, into the Burial Mounds for three months. meanwhile, Jiang Cheng – who Wen Zhuliu viscerally knows should be an average person by now – is leading part of the revolution against the Wen Clan. He might not know the specifics of experimental medical surgeries but Wen Zhuliu can do simple math, he may be the strong and silent type but that doesn’t mean he can’t count
I think this is why, in episode 20, Wen Zhuliu barely fights Wei Wuxian when he comes for Wen Chao, because internally he’s going “damn son you crawled out of hell without a golden core, you deserve to win this one”
Wen Zhuliu can do simple math, okay.
oh mY GOD
OMG. The gifs... The explanations... Perfect. 😂😂😂 Just bloody fucking perfect. Wen Zhuliu can fucking count and he's amazing at it. 🥰🥰🥰
how to show love~
