Meet the Adrenians, they're just as advanced as Eridians and Humans, but have never left their planet due to 1. Astrophage never being a problem, and 2. They are afraid of an ancient predator in the upper stratosphere/Mesosphere that used to be their natural predator.
It isn't until they find the debris + ejected fuel bays from the Hail Mary sis they decided to start their own space-exploration, finding out their predator has long since devolved into another species.
Adding more: Commander Leo is found by Grace, Rocky, and a crew of Eridians that go on a return trip to Adrian. As Adrian is 14 light-years away from Erid, they experience a total of 28 years from time dilation and during that time begin their space exploration.
Unfortunately, much like the Eridians, have no idea about Radiation.
Imagine Grace defined his name as the elegance definition of grace and Rocky spends years thinking how fucking ironic this clumsy leaky space blobs name is.
Until Grace slips out a sentence along the lines of "could you give me a little grace here" and Rocky immediately points out he used a word wrong so Grace has to explain that yeah, grace means elegance but it can also mean mercy sometimes too.
And Rocky has to suddenly reconcile that the clumsy leaky blob that saved his life twice, that almost certainly doomed himself to come back for him, name is Mercy.
I created Chia not too long ago, but I wasn't super happy with the design. After reading the Eridian biology document, seeing really good pictures of the Rocky puppet, and then getting the Eridian classroom in 4k, I updated her and I am much happier with her! I also included an alien livestock called a Nutribranch and a size chart! More information below the cut (beware, wall of text).

(♩♫♬♪) was the owner a big ranch / farm in one of the few spots where light broke through the Erid atmosphere. Farms and ranches were always found wherever light broke through. This was a prime location to grow crops and raise livestock. (♩♫♬♪) and her family owned seven large farms that grew seven major crops that supplied much of the Eridian diet. (Yes, they are obligate carnivores, but I headcanon that they are omnivore, but they just tend to lean more carnivore.) (♩♫♬♪) also works with two types of livestock – Nutribranchs and (unknown for now).
Nutribranchs are based off of Nudibranchs. They are basically just alien slugs that act a lot like Earth cows. Grace will often just call them Slug Cows, but he did coin the term Nutribranch. Nutribranchs are used for their meat, mostly. But in ‘recent’ years, it’s been discovered that their other byproducts are quite useful. The term “glue” is brought up by Dr. Grace once, but realistically it’s just an adhesive or bonding agent that can be combined with Xenonite to enhance its properties. If they eat a certain type of diet, their bodies can grow gemstones and precious rocks used in Eridian fashion. (♩♫♬♪) does not participate in that practice, however. Nutribranchs also come in a variety of different colors and textures, based entirely on their diet – the land they call home is vast terrains painted many different colors (reminiscent to the Rainbow Mountains in Peru or China). They have primitive eyes that can see light. [@accapella-songfield-uwu designed their biology the most. I just came up with the concept and contributed several ideas about them. I’ll link to their post, once they get around to it.]
(♩♫♬♪) is not a scientist. She wasn’t anything special either if you asked her. But she is one of the first to meet the alien that helped save their planet, Dr. Ryland Grace. Rocky had requested that his people help save the alien that had save him, that had saved them all. By the time they had reached Erid, Dr. Grace was very close to running out of food – and perhaps he was already having to ration too much. Many Eridian scientists were brought on to brainstorm how they could feed the human. Rocky requested that the alien savior be posted up somewhere where natural sun light touched on Erid’s surface. This just so happened to be close by to the ranch / farm that (♩♫♬♪) owned and operated.
On a whim, one of the scientists invited her to the area. She was the first one to just straight up offer Dr. Grace something to eat – she scraped a perfect square of moss / lychen from their own carapace and gave it to him (he was in a suit made of Xenonite at the time). Grace took the sample back up to the Hail Mary ship to study it. While he reported that he couldn’t eat it, he did make plenty of discoveries about similarities to the plants of his home. This was a step in the right direction for the top minds of Erid. Dr. Grace took a liking to the simple farmer Eridian, commending her for doing the hard work to get food out to her fellow Eridians. He gave (♩♫♬♪) the name Chia Pet in his own language, often just shortening it to Chia. In a quiet moment between them, with Rocky acting as translator (at least until Chia learned English herself), Dr. Grace said that Chia reminded him of an old friend named Carl.
Fun Facts:
~ Grace keeps the moss / lychen from her in a special dome/terrarium inside his biodome as a reminder of her generosity. He has also found a way to grow some of the moss / lynchen that is able to survive in the biodome. It doesn't last long, but he thinks he is well on his way to making an Erid-native plant that can survive in his atmosphere.
~ Once Chia learned of human pronouns, they adopted she/they.
~ Chia was trampled by one of the Nutribranchs when she was younger, cracking her carapace. The crack near the bottom of her carapace is fixed / plugged with a Xenonite filling because it was so deep and near the opening at the bottom. The crack on their side was much less deep. The Xenonite used to fill that crack was less stable and fell out some fifty-odd years ago. Chia just puts a plant or two in it. Grace calls it her “shirt pocket.”
~ Her family crest is seven lines for the seven crops and seven farms the family owns. The two circles are for the two livestock that they raise. The star-infinity type symbol is her namesign.
~ The plant carving depicts their job/role.
~ Her digits are sharper and more shovel like, due to the nature of her job. All of her family have digits that are shaped this way.
~ The moss / lychen that grows on them does change color depending on where the herd is grazing at the time. When they meet Grace for the first time, it just so happened to be green.
~ I basically just made them after thinking of a short, squat mossy stone in a field.

Just outta curiosity because there's been a few people I've spoken with who haven't, and even in-universe, Naveen and Grisham have a go at him for leaving us to handle Ange, and the creation of the Ultimate Weapon, Lysandre's descent into madness, and how it tied back to him that their lives were ruined respectively.
Personally, I think AZ's had enough punishment, he didn't even get a single day to be fully free of his sins before passing away, he only had a brief moment to finally have that weight off his back. (Plus, it's another reason I wish we had a Kalos game set during the war, I think it would have made the impact of his actions hit harder. 3000yrs just gives me too much distance from it.)
k but imagine Rocky wanting to learn about how humans became the apex predators of their planet so he has Grace “hunt” him in the biodome as an experiment and during it he thinks Grace isn’t trying or taking it seriously which is bad bad bad because this is for research purposes
only for Rocky to get more and more tired as the experiment goes on just to realize that Grace isn’t which makes him panic so he puts as much distance as he can between them and finds a (hopefully) safe spot to sleep and when he wakes up the human is crouching over him like “got youuu” and Rocky has never shrieked so damn loud before in his life
