dont you think its weird. dont you think its weird that the space race last time was two of the biggest powers in the world. and now its a handful of rich men. dont you think its weird they can afford that. dont you think its bad that rich men can afford the same things as the government.
dont you think its weird that while the world is suffering and poverty is everywhere, where there's wars and climate change and human pain and homelessness. the same month I've watched people die on the news from unbearable heat and unprecedented flooding. that a rich handful of men are going to space, causing more carbon emissions. dont you think its weird that instead of putting their vast amount of money to use for good they're using it to find a way off the planet theyre destroying.
dont you think its really fucking weird.
i love when my american mutuals are like. im out here in Illinois. like that means nothing to me

Why are job interviews psychological warfare
Like genuinely what is the intention behind asking someone what their biggest weakness is. No one is actually gonna be honest in that situation so it’s like a weird game to see if they can give a clever answer
The thing that gets me is that nowadays nothing in the job interview process is in any way genuine. My teory is that they blatantly weed out neurodivergent people.
Everyone posts interview questions AND sample answers online. A recruiter training me to an interview on my current position blatantly told me - just make up a conflict situation which you resolved using relevant skills. Just make it up. Better to lie than to say "I'm actually a normal person and I have no conflicts at work, I am able to say ok when someone points out I was wrong and not escalate things'. Saying this is worse than lying.
Tumblr as well is full of advice what to say on interview. There are services that make resumes look exactly the same and fill them with identical buzzwords.
No part of the process in personal or genuine. You go in knowing the questions and those who will ask them know what you're going to answer. It's purely to see how nervous you get in a stressful situation + how many of your rights you know vs how much you are willing to be exploited.
Hint: people who can be most calm during interview are those who are very neurotypical and privileged, including people whose livelihood does not depend on particular interview, who have some safety net to fall back on.
The fact that there is such a thing is being overqualified is insane. The fact that you have to beg and grovel and masturbate the employer saying how good the company is insane. The fact that you can be not skilled and better, more confident at speaking to strangers and get a position that a skilled but shy/nervous person didn't get is actually discrimination but no-one talks about it.

the worst part about reading ancient roman philosophy is that sometimes you’ll read something expressly saying that people shouldn’t do something that you do frequently and it’s like diogenes threw a plucked chicken at you from 2000 years ago

The class of American petit bourgeois that own the restaurant franchises and car dealerships of the flyover and rule their small towns like little feudal barons might be the most reprehensible human beings civilization has ever produced
Love to see all the people reblogging this talking shit on their local tyrants in the tags
Its that they are the lowest of the capital class, but (at least in my experience with them) they are the ones most enthusiastic about debasing the "lower class" around them. You're far more likely to interact with them then you ever are to be personally disrespected by Bill Gates or whatever. They are laughed at by the "real" capitalists, but they are focused entirely on proving that they're better than all the little people.
Back in my hometown, one guy owned almost half of the rental properties in town and a fair handful of the local businesses. He was a monster. Drunk driving his Porsche all over town, raising people's rent or evicting them if they weren't subservient enough, and of course there were pretty regularly sexual harassment (borderline assault) allegations that never went anywhere. For a lot of people, he was both landlord and employer, and your rent was always suspiciously exactly 3 quarters your earnings. He inherited all of it, never worked a day in his life.
Fuck those people.
