Happy ten year anniversary to this post! I made this when I was a teenager dealing with severe unmedicated mental illness. Back then I thought “it gets better” was just something people said. I didn’t expect to even make it to my mid-twenties.
But it really did get better; through lots of support from friends and treatment, I made it better. I still have bad days, but the bad days aren’t forever.

Years ago a flock of vultures moved into the local zoo here in FL and admin tried for years to discourse them to no effect. Then about 10 years ago they created a vulture habitat in the 'wild Florida' portion of the zoo with no overhead enclosure and they just happily live there now with almost no interactions in the guest areas.
Now you can see baby vultures! The flock still flies out every morning (a very ominous sight) but they mostly just chill in the hottest parts of the day and sleep there most nights. What a deal! Free food, protected nesting areas and no cages.
Lucky bastards.
Oh, so it's okay to show up and eat garbage from the trash cans and harass small children for their hot dogs if your a vulture they'll even give you a sweet living space specifically designed for your needs but when I do it suddenly you don't have any spare quarters? I'm a native organism too ya know!

are we far enough out of the 2010s that I can say that a lot of what was getting framed as intentional queerbaiting in the big Tumblr Popular shows was definitely just writers making homophobic jokes bc they thought the idea of a character being gay was funny rather than any attempted implication that a character might be gay
