I also like to point out that the HRT you see online is generally legit, especially if you're using a source that has been approved and vetted by the community. If it's not gray market stuff that's just the actual medication, but from another country, then it's almost certainly something that was made with a level of care and safety. People will take DIY vials and send them off to be tested in labs. Periodic reminder rogaine (minoxidil) on your face CAN in fact help you to grow facial hair, with or without being on testosterone. Rogaine is available over the counter at drug stores, Walmart, and some grocery stores. The Walmart store brand can be very affordable.

After a number of comments about “actually testosterone won’t make you ugly”, I feel the need to clarify my choice of words here. Cause I actually don’t think T makes anyone ugly; if you ask me, every trans guy and nonbinary person I’ve seen go on T made them hotter cause you can See the sudden boost in confidence and comfort in their own skin going on.

But the target audience for this post is that one egg trans guy who’s scared to even consider it, who’s got dysphoria eating away at them but also fears how others will react. There’s people both in and outside of the queer community who tell pre-T trans guys and egg trans guys that T will make them uglier, that they’ll go bald and be covered in acne, that they’ll ruin their good looks. And when you’re in that position you might think “well, I’d love to have a beard and deep voice and a tdick, but what if they’re right?” And telling that person “hey you’ll still look hot, don’t worry” doesn’t really… address the problem here. You’re still placing value on the later attractiveness, and they’re still going to worry that maybe you’re wrong.

So I’m cutting the knot here and saying that what’s important isn’t even how hot you are later. Maybe you’ll be uglier. I doubt it, but who cares? You’re miserable now no matter how you look, do you really want to ditch a chance at feeling good about yourself just cause you might lose some hair? Maybe you could stand to love yourself more than you love others’ perceptions of you.
