They still need the Hail Mary to get the taumeba.

Ilyukhina and Yao will die and even if she prevents the explosion that killed the science team there’s no guarantee DuBois would survive the trip.

But she knows now, even more than she did before that grace can do it and that while he won’t be alone forever there’s nothing she can do from earth.

And besides, she now knows a path that worked.

So she must commit every atrocity she did the first time, clinging to every detail she remembers in a hope that some butterfly effect doesn’t ruin this future. Consciously sending people to their deaths when it had originally been a gamble.

Seeing Grace again, working with him every day, knowing that for all their testing, all their preparations, he would be sent on the Hail Mary, 11.9 light years from home and would wake up alone. And knowing that preparing him any more than he was the first time could risk the future in any number of ways that she isnt willing to take the risk.

And the day finally comes that Grace is drugged and the Hail Mary is launched. And that marks the beginning of Stratt hoping, forcing herself to believe with every fiber of her being, that it was enough. That she didn’t change too much, that all of the sacrifices that she knowingly made this time were not in vain just because she was conscious of them. Looking up at the sky in the direction of tau ceti and telling herself time and time again that Ryland Grace will wake up along but he will not be alone.

Fighting once again for 26 years because she knows the Beatles made it back the first time.

I just think Stratt is neat and I like the idea of putting her in a situation where she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that they succeeded despite multiple things going wrong. And having to struggle with seeing and working with grace again, starting from a grace that doesn’t know her and being completely unable to do anything more than what she did the first time without potentially destroying the one good future. 🙂

there's characters i subjectively love more than her but objectively i think haruka is the best design in arknights. i think she's just the perfect execution of her concept. the ruffles of her skirt acting as her fish tail and the bulky white jacket contrasting against her hair to give the vibe of spotted fish scales. the chain of her belt looking like fish eggs. her bracelets looking like bubbles. her earrings looking like fins. her blue dress and hair tie bringing it all together. she communicates her entire animal motif at a glance and she does it while being a cute fashionable popstar. She Even Has A Goldfish Charm.
