The Trump DOD thought the Iran War would be over immediately but the aircraft carrier has been at sea for 9+ months and in combat for 5 months and it is running out of supplies and having major maintenance issues. Morale amongst the 5,000+ crew is abysmal because they thought this was going to be a 7 month deployment and now they have no idea when they’re going to go home and conditions aboard are growing shittier and shittier.

The Vulgate Cycle repeatedly outright describes Lancelot as intelligent, well-educated and polite, you know, the things expected of chivalrous knight of noble birth. Then he does things that indicate the opposite. I kind of love that, actually. Our most glorious and refined knight, Sir Lancelot, who was raised by a fairy in a lake and is known for mauling people with little to no provocation. To me, he feels semi-feral and not in a Tumblr funnyman way, in an under-socialized child raised by wolves kind of way. The ‘Sir Lancelot is a courteous and refined knight.’ rhetoric almost feels like Camelot propaganda to offset his social blunders and misdeeds.

how do you get to a point where you can comfortably post about certain topics in fiction without feeling like you're going to be shot and killed. this is a genuine question bc i love your posts and your blog but i... feel awkward posting about the Characters and their sexual abuse trauma/etc with the same tone as their other issues even though i think they're worth acknowledging and analyzing. how do you stop feeling like stuff like that is The Most Evil and doesn't deserve to even be spoken about on account of being uniquely evil

you really have to care more about doing what you think is right and creating a safe space for vulnerable voices, including those that other people - even you yourself - might find uncomfortable or upsetting, as well as feeling secure in your own values while also always being open to the possibility that you might (and probably will) do wrong and that it isn't a permanent state of failure if you do, but an indication of where you need to focus on learning and improving, than you care about what people might say, think, or do about you because of that. you also really should be aware of and interrogate your own disgust reaction and genuinely make the effort to understand that feeling discomfort is not necessarily an indication of harm having been done to you. really i recommend that last part to anyone, it will empower you and improve your communication and learning skills regardless of your reasons for doing so. you also need to form and maintain strong boundaries, though, so you don't burn yourself out or end up seeking out discomfort as a form of self harm.

i won't pretend that it's a decision which carries no risks or responsibilities. you have to decide if the cost is worth it to you. i'm an advocate for harm reduction - for creating safer communities and public services for everyone who needs them, free from any judgement or oppressive conditions that must be met to gain access to the resources that they offer - so i'm willing to accept the abuse i get for doing it and the judgements of my character that other people form.

ultimately, even if your focus is fiction, you need to care about the real people who these issues affect and the variety of their experiences and responses to the topic. you need to be willing to make an effort to communicate; to listen to them and respect their right to feel the way that they do about their personal experiences. you also need to learn to recognise the difference between personal opinion - yours and others - and theory and praxis.

(i also got shot and killed several times until i became pretty numb to the backlash but i don't recommend that. punishment is not a necessary or even sufficient condition to constructive personal development.)

Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.

They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.

Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.

You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.

For journalism, activism, or domestic abuse situations, skip Windows and use Linux routed through Tor instead of a commercial VPN. A GDID doesn’t care which VPN you use, only that it’s still the same Windows installation.

Two things back that up:

There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.

Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.

You can get and use windows 11 without logging in with a microsoft account, as of five days ago. I am a local user on my computer. Don't ask me how to do it, because my computer repair guy did it when he reinstalled windows, but there are tutorials out there. Refuse to connect to internet until you're set up and can use the computer freely.

Refusing to connect to the internet doesn't help. You have to open a Command Prompt (Shift+F10) and typing start ms-cxh:localonly (and pressing enter) during installation when you get to the sign in/create stupid ms account screen

Mass reported his video and his account, which he ran, until facebook terminated his account for "child exploitation" despite it being his account, him being an adult, and him not being exploited

Ableism and transphobia are inseperable. Just like ableism was used to prop up bigotry throughout history, now it is being used to deny transgender people bodily autonomy the same way it is used to deny disabled people bodily autonomy. It's not a coincidence that so much of the rights transphobic rhetoric is focused on labelling us as "mentally ill". They don't think any disabled people, let alone mentally ill people should have independence or liberation.

do not get IR blocking fabric or thick wool to cover your nose and mouth

do not get IR blocking sunglasses since facial recognition has moved up to targeting and identifying the upper face

do not avoid having your phone or any bluetooth devices around these cameras as they can detect and track those signals

do not buy cheap green lasers 1 milliwatt or above from etsy or walmart or amazon (i will not try and find a link if you ask)

do not use them to fry those fuckers from a distance damage the delicate inner sensors by pointing the beam in the lenses

AND unless you want to cost Flock more money in repairs, do not buy a small circle saw or a reciprocating saw and cut down the pole

when doing all these things, DO NOT avoid using latex gloves as fingerprints can leak through
