Dysphoria Hoodie is so real but can we give a round of applause to Autism Hoodie?
u were always there for my autistic ass when textures were awful, the world was too bright & loud, eye contact needed to be avoided, and i didn't know what to do with my hands. u even let me use your pullstrings as a stim toy. truest ride or die bestie i'll ever know đ«¶đđ«Ą
"they're the same hoodie" that is FREQUENTLY CORRECT
IM SO GLAD WE ARE IN AGREEMENT.
The hoodie is wear in middle school and highschool because I was dysphoric also happened to be the only hoodie I could wear that day that didn't make me feel like ripping off my skin and also the only hoodie that could successfully cover my eyes to block out the florescents because they wouldn't let me wear my prescription sunglasses and when I wanted to sleep I'd just pull my arms inside and hide in it inside the library.
sorry this addition made me so ANGRY on your behalf, remembering how schools inflict such absolutely TORTURE on students with sensory issues and health issues in general. and it all ties in to lack of childhood bodily autonomy.
it is absolutely insane the extent to which school students aren't allowed to take care of their basic bodily needs such as:
controlling their water/food intake (the fact kids have to ask permission to drink water is INSANE)
hearing protection for kids with noise sensitivity
light protection for kids with light sensitivity
(seriously what the FUCK is up with controlling kids wearing hoods/hats/sunglasses during class)
removing themselves from a hostile environment (having to ask permission even on the verge of meltdown to step out of a room/situation that is actively causing them pain)
not having every minute of their day scheduled and supervised on a level akin to literal prisoners (hint: we shouldn't be doing this to people in prison either!)
having a basic level of goddamn privacy
going to the fucking bathroom!!!
it is VILE how often school systems reject the basic human agency of their students. it causes devastating harm, and disproportionately impacts vulnerable students.
So many students are forced to experience PREVENTABLE daily pain and discomfort resulting in long-term health issues and disability because their basic needs are ignored and trampled on by adult authority. There is no world where this is an acceptable norm.
these are all human rights violations and child abuse and have been labelled by courts as such
Yes but unfortunately I'm from the U.S. where children typically don't have rights
every time I see some bigshot scientist revealed as a fraud my knee-jerk reaction is "hell yeah elisabeth bik got 'em good" AND IM RIGHT
PubPeer enables scientists to search for their publications or their peers publications and provide feedback and/or start a conversation ano
SHE NEVER QUITS!!!!
ICONIC!!!!
> Elisabeth Bik is on patreon <
She is not directly paid for her work to vet papers, she has been hit with legal action & death threats by scientists who hate that she's exposing them and their financial fraud, and she keeps at it every single day, combing through thousands of papers to make science more fair. Please consider supporting her!
actually beautiful
Elisabeth Bik is a renowned microbiologist and science integrity advocate known for detecting image duplication in scientific publications.
Overheard in one of my favorite branches in the Church:
Christ is mighty to save. The atonement is for everyone. Everyone. He has the capacity, knowledge and power to save and rescue each of us. We can arise into new life through him. Now. Today.
It doesn't begin or end at baptism. It doesn't begin or end at the temple. It already began and it never ends.
One of His names is Endless.
Struggling to put into words how big this is.
As game developers continue to argue about the value of generative AI tools, some genAI inventors are trying to claim for copyright on their
"Thaler's lawyers complain that if the Copyright Office's reign of terror continues unchecked, it 'will have irreversibly and negatively impacted AI development and use in the creative industry during critically important years.'"
GOOD.
i loooooove mentally switching "Mormon missionaries" to "volunteer teenage boys" and watching how much the vibe switches. "Protestant pastor SLAM DUNKS debate with Mormon missionaries!!!" has a very different undertone than "Protestant pastor SLAM DUNKS debate with volunteer teenage boys!!!"
My institute teachers are actually the best people. Today they started the lesson by introducing 4 super famous talented people (Lebron James, Taylor Swift, Jane Goodall, and Albert Einstein), and talked about how they got to be in that field, and I was worried it was gonna be one of those terrible """""""motivational""""""" lessons where they use those people as examples that everyone should try to live up to and we should lock in to achieve all our dreams.
Instead, after talking about some of the ways these people discovered their talents, our teachers immediately went "THESE PEOPLE ARE OUTLIERS!!!" Then they drew a bell curve on the board and went "Most of us are right here in the middle and we are extremely happy and comfortable right here! The outliers pay a price for being outliers! Most of us just want to discover our talents and use them to a perfectly average degree! Lower your expectations of yourselves!!!"
And THEN we talked about how we can discover and develop our own talents. Our teachers are also in their 50s but sprinkled in lots of examples of things THEY are still doing to discover and develop their talents and stressing that they are ALSO still young and have time to continue learning and growing as people, with a really beautiful reminder in there about how we don't have to do everything at once and we are allowed to wait until we have the ability to start learning to do things we're interested in, as long as we don't let waiting become paralysis because we're worried it's not the right time.
Genuinely a very good lesson.
Superman isn't woke. You're just so evil that you see a man doing acts of kindness and you think it's a targeted political agenda
This but for people this post is talking about. đ€Ł
Get peer reviewed, bitch.
"the world isn't kind" ok??? Much more importantly are you?????
"the world isnt kind" skill issue. I am
â"the world isn't kind" ok then make it a little bit kinder
It's often said but always bears repeating: the problem with emphasizing cures in disabled life is not that a cure will destroy your soul or whatever.
We are not in an X-Men: Days Of Future Past scenario regarding cures for most people. It's not a choice to leave the neurodivergent homo superior and join the inferior human race. It's not a vibes thing. For most disabled people, a cure would in fact be massively beneficial to their quality of life.
The problem with emphasizing cures is that it involves sacrificing available resources that could be used to improve the quality of life of people currently living with disabilities, based on a slim chance that some miracle treatment might emerge. It shifts the focus for abled people from living alongside and adjusting their environment to accommodate disabled people, to waiting it out until the disabled people aren't around any more, whether by cure or other means.
If they cured schizophrenia tomorrow: rad! Currently many abled people think that antipsychotics do functionally "cure" schizophrenia, and that if you just take your meds you will not be schizophrenic in a meaningful sense any more. Therefore, schizophrenics live constantly under the stigma of "going off their meds," to the point where many are living worse lives than they could be with intense side effects, or the looming threat of more severe institutionalization, to manage something that could be accommodated environmentally, because this is nearer to the social construct of "a cure." Where I live, if you have a diagnosis and are involved in any kind of reckless or violent crime, like a car accident or a punch-up on a friday night, you are far, far more likely to be prosecuted with higher sentencing, institutionalization, yada yada, based on the societal stigma that we are normal when medicated, monsters when not.
Or, the intense pressure that deaf people face to have cochlear implants installed. Did you know that cochlear implants have a regret rate of over 40% in some surveys? It turns out this is because a lot of people have unmet expectations of what the implants will actually do. How? They're having conversations with surgeons before getting them, right? Well, the marketing is mostly handled by hearing people and promises deaf people that they basically won't be deaf any more. In a lot of ways, cochlear implants are treated by hearing people as a cure for deafness, and thus like "going off your meds," being actually deaf becomes a disability of choice in the hearing mind. The reality is that they're still going to be hard of hearing, and imagine that. You've just bought into the hype that your disability is basically going to be gone, you're no longer going to be isolated or treated like a punchline by the hearing world, you pay all this fuckin money -- and the best you get is that everybody sounds like the parents in Snoopy.
Finally, you see how people act when they think they've found a "cure" for their child's autism, right? So many autistic kids are subjected to torturous therapies meant to make them neurotypical through concepts like "errorless learning." You have parents slathering their kids in essential oils or forcing them onto batshit diets that fuck up their nutrition while they're growing. Meanwhile, as we see under the current American "MAHA" administration, the budget seems to have bottomless resources for "cure" projects (scams and assorted bullshit) but absolutely nothing for healthcare reform or welfare for autistic families, because again, when you prioritize cures you don't really give a fuck about the quality of life of the people currently living.
When you couch this all in "but I am my wheelchair!" rhetoric, you end up with the most annoying fucking liberals in the universe, cunts like Bill Maher, making fun of the whole concept of disabled rights on a national stage. It's just not really going to persuade any abled people, ever. In fact, they love the idea of cures because it's a compassionate way to not care about disability issues any more.
has anyone ever prayed into a megaphone. from a rooftop. in broad daylight. i might have to
accidental deep mormon lore is a fucking first for me i gotta sit this site out for a while
idk who needs to hear this but if you need to walk on eggshells around that person and you cannot have a normal and honest conversation w them, they are not your soulmate. sorry
if you canât express your real feelings in a relationship, you are not in a real relationship
When Japan recommends people not vaccinate for MMR, autism rates continued to go up regardless. Shorty thereafter Japan changed their tune on MMR.
so is atroquinine the poison that can also be made from borginian cocoons? because i feel like that would make narrative sense. i may be slightly insane. atroquinine is apparently not naturally occurring but if the cocoon is processed in a certain way it can be made?
The game seems to imply that the extraction process to create a cure for Incuritis is very delicate and that a single deviation, no matter how slight, at any point in that process results in producing the toxin. The closest real-world comparison I can make is the preparation of pufferfish as a delicacy. Hence why it would be heavily regulated and the export of the unprocessed cocoon would be illegal. This also implies that the cocoons are either inherently poisonous or that a component of them has to be kept seperate from a component used in their processing to avoid a chemical reaction that results in that poison.
The fact that a very potent toxin can be made very easily from them is there narratively to justify why the export of them is illegal and why smuggling them is serious enough that someone would even consider murder to cover it up.
Also the game's choice to call it a toxin rather than a poison implies living cells, in some capacity, are involved in it being made. So either the animal making the cocoons incorporates a toxin in them for defense, or the processing of the cocoons involves biologics in some way.
That both are introduced in the same game is its the strongest connection to atroquinine. And while you could argue that the poison is synthesized from, or a synthetic form of, the cocoon toxin, there's no solid evidence they have any connection to each other.
Atroquinine is well known enough for the Gavineers to have a song about it, while the cocoons and the processing of them seem to only be known of by Borginians and international law inforcement.
My verdict is that they're most likely unrelated, but that the information on both is ambigious enough that a connection could exist. Atroquinine could reasonably be a purely synethetic recreation of the cocoon's toxin, as an example.
Small pokemon theory/headcanon
You know how pikachu's mascot statis leds to special treatment for games mechaniacs and such? What if the in universe explaination was Red.
The Light Ball (a held item only pikachu can use) makes its earliest appearance in the games when the starter pikachu from Yellow is transfered to gen 2. It's also held by Red's pikachu from HGSS onwards.
Maybe the reason he doesn't use pikachu in Alola's Battle Tree is because he discovered two pikachu exclusive Z-moves, and it was deemed unfair for him to use them.
Maybe he feed his team Max Soup in Galar, and discovered Gigantamax Pikachu.
Just Red regularly discovering new ways to make pikachu OP because he likes battling with them.
What if some of the times Zelda games reference each other isn't timeline evidence, but the interference of fortune tellers peeking into the past, future, or other timelines.
Potential examples include:
â Linebeck's Uniform (Triforce Heroes)
â A painting of BotW Hyrule hanging in a shop (Twilight Princess HD)
â Any location name reference (Breath of the Wild)
Do you remember the first RANDOM* shiny Pokemon you've found?
Yes (tell me :V)
I think so? Maybe? (tell me anyway :V)
No :(
I've never found a random shiny
I don't play pokemon
*by random i mean non-scripted, not hunting for it actively, you're just wandering around in any game and you just found it somewhere
(tell me the game too, not just the pokemon :V)
First was a Geodude in Y, second is a Bellsprout in ZA.
