Something quick because I've been thinking about this for a week. Slightly inspired by Star vs The Forces of Evil much more inspired by my Monster Hunter Wilds obsession and tbh I don't even know if this makes sense. Words are HARD and I'm so rusty đ
Everybody tries to console him, tell him he's back home, but Stiles fights and snarls fiercely when Jackson tries to hold him down.
"NOâ! No you don't get it. I have to go back!" Stiles breaks free of Jackson's hold and immediately scrambles over to the books lying around the summoning circle, hands moving none-too delicately over the ancient tomes pages trying desperately to find a way to open the portal again. The rest of the pack are too shellshocked by Stiles' aggressiveness but Derek walks up to him from behind.
"Stiles you're safe now okay, how about you tell us about what happened on the way over to the clinic?" he puts a steady hand on the teens shoulder before him whole world flips over and his back hits the floor as Stiles throws him effortlessly to the side.
"Stiles!?" Scott gasps, Erica and Cora run to help him up and Stiles ignores them all as he keeps flipping page after page. "What the hell is wrong with you man?! We spent weeks trying to get you back homeâ"
Stiles' head snaps up to cut him off. "Weeks..." He mutters incredulously, "S-Scott..." He stutters over his best friends name, a confused look flickering over his face, like he's surprised. "I've been gone for Forty. Years!" Stiles spits, "The only thing you've succeeded in doing is ripping me out of my son's life and dooming millions of people!"
Stiles doesn't even let the shock of his words sink in for everybody around him because soon after that he finally finds what he's looking for. A rushed incantation in latin, a few quick hand motions and the portal rips into existence once more with a rush of wind and Stiles dives in head first without any further words.
As soon as Stiles dives through it, the portal begins shrinking. Without a word Derek is the first to spring into action, diving right in after Stiles and not looking back to see who follows.
The in-between is weightless, a black void that has him suspended in perpetual free-fall, until it doesn't.
Derek hits the ground feet first but goes tumbling down the steep incline of a hill until his back hits the ground again, knocking the wind out of his lungs. He distantly hears other bodies hitting the ground through the ringing in his ears and his own wheezing coughs as he tries to catch his breath. He dazedly looks around and spots a sole figure in the distance, shouting something Derek eventually recognizes as a name.
"ELLIOTT!" A deep, crackling and frantic voice shouts, "ELI! ARE YOU HERE?!"
Derek distantly recognizes the voice, familiar, but something about it is not quite right.
Derek stands on his feet, shaking off the ache of his less than stellar landing. He looks around for anyone that had followed him through the portal and notices Kira and Liam on the hill he presumably just tumbled down.
"Are you two okay?!" He calls out. Liam looks around for a second before looking down to see him and gives a thumbs up.
"I'm fine, but Kira has a sprained ankle. You good?"
Derek just gives him a thumbs up back before again looking at the man he saw before. He's not screaming for this "Eli" anymore, instead he has fallen to his knees. Derek hears him crying and a deep unfounded guilt twists in his gut as he approaches the man.
He doesn't touch him, just kneels beside him, mouth open prepared to ask who he is and where they are but it's that moment that Derek realizes something.
"Stiles?!" Derek gasps, shock racks through his body and he loses balance on his knees before falling flat on his butt.
Stiles, no I can't be, but it is Stiles. The once youthful teenager with slight hints of left over baby fat in his cheeks is now a oddly dressed older man, his eyes are weathered with deep crows feet and his buzzcut has been replaced by a salt and pepper colored mullet.
"You shouldn't have come here," Stiles spits angrily, "You shouldn't have even tried to bring me back to that place!" Stiles stands at his full height, looming over Derek in a way he never has before and Derek distantly notes that Stiles looks bulkier than him now, the thick, pale orange turtleneck sweater he's now wearing is pulled almost taught on his shoulders and Derek's mouth goes dry at the sight.
"I am so angry at you right now..." He starts but trails off as his shoulders drop and the anger seems to drain out of him, "But I'm not angry enough to be cruel," Stiles looks around for a few seconds before shrugging at Derek to follow.
"C'mon, get the others we have to go. The forest isn't safe at the best of times but it's almost dark out," Stiles shrugs before setting off towards the hill Liam and Kira are situated on and as Derek watches him walk away he mutters under his breath.
