Also be unapologetically disabled with mobility aids and wearable medical devices and stim toys and ear defenders and all that stuff. You need it. People need to see it. Everyone needs to be reminded that life is unquestioningly more enjoyable when you're not living inside an arbitrary set of rules created by people who are offended by all the wrong things.

med people are so annoying "This family's 8 year old child who was about to go through a major surgery and kept crying that she was hungry so they pitied her and gave her food, she then had a heart attack in the surgery. I have four kids. I’ve had one or another of them need some kind of surgical procedure that requires anesthesia four or five times over the past 15 years.

This Tumblr post is the first time someone has explained to me *why* I couldn’t feed them before those instances.

I’m not stupid. I understood that just fine. Hell, my kids would have understood that just fine. But no one bothered to tell us.

i did know this before having kids (i have six). we have a kid that's needed multiple procedures requiring anesthesia. and every single time, i am asked multiple times if i'm sure he was not given any food or water after a certain point.

every single time i have had to say, "i understand that if he had food or water, he could aspirate it into his lungs under anesthesia. i am not lying to you." THEN someone would make a little note and i would stop being repeatedly asked.

not a single time was that risk explained to me. the only reason it came up was because i already knew. i still don't understand why it isn't standard pre-op counseling or pre-op check information, when me as a parent acknowledging the actual risk also put THE MEDICAL STAFF at ease because i conveyed that i had informed understanding as reason to not lie about giving my kid food.

"maybe some people will get nervous and refuse surgery" okay so they need more counseling about risks and anxiety, not less information in a way that actually does endanger their child or themselves!

Night fury head cannon!

So, while I'm not trying to head cannon the population is healthy (they're very much still in danger) but, the reason night furies are so rare in the archipelago is bc they're mainland dragons. What do I mean by that?

I mean objectively night furies are significantly more bat like than is truly acknowledged.

For example, I believe night furies are NOT cave dwellers. My reasons being that

1. We see both in the first movie, and I believe at least twice throughout the TV series, that Toothless' claws aren't actually that good at gripping stone. If night furies were cave dwellers, do we really think toothless would've been stuck in the cove cuz he couldn't CLIMB SOME ROCKS??

2. How Toothless slept upside down with the tree and how he snuck up behind Hiccup the first time (that's less bat related but is related to being not cave dwellers, I elaborate below)

And so my head canon; night furies live almost near-coastal but slightly more inland, in large, hollow trees (I'm talking like ancient forest level growth) hunting by prowling along like a panther (hence as he snuck up on hiccup) and flying between branches, living in small but likely multigenerational familial groups most of the time, but there's definitely some kind of migration as well, hence why they're good long distance fliers, during so they fly over the archipelago and maybe that's how toothless got lost or stuck away from his group

As much as I love the Bloodymary ship, I would like to raise a ship that started as a "but what if he was like, with, another scientist or smthg?" And of course as it's another movie I've watched within the last year and I love the franchise (even if I don't actually really like this particular one from it) and as I thought about the head canons I see and love a lot for Grace matches my partner and so... This ship but the head canons are low(high)key my partner and I...

Anyways, in relations to my regular content-

It's such a small detail overall but I love that all of the dragons respond to hiccup even if he's not their rider compared to how they treat other riders who aren't theirs

And yeah maybe it has to do with their riders clearly listening to him as a leader, maybe even if we don't have the full context of it Toothless is potentially still like an "alpha" (using quotes to distinguish from how he's an alpha later) of their specific dragon pack/herd and if hiccup is his rider, ect.

But also hear me out, canonically, the gangs dragons are the ones from Berks dragon fighting/kill arena, Hookfang was literally in line to be slaughtered... But who was the first to find non violent/non painful ways to fight them? Hiccup, he was very likely the first safe human they'd ever interacted with and I think about that information all the time

Doing that thing where you become interested in a fandom before actually seeing the media with Beastars rn ngl [I have started watching the show as I don't have the money or energy for the manga but maybe in the future, currently on Ep 6 but also already have a general idea of what happens cuz...
