They spent their whole budget on her and by God they were gonna get their money's worth.
I'd spend all my money on her too
Israel bet that the long-term war would produce this terrible silence, consent to genocide, and getting used to the scene... and frankly, they succeeded in that.
I don't know what the end of all this is, the whole world has let them down and is watching their starvation and displacement
PLEASE DON'T STOP TALKING ABOUT GAZA
please reblog this i spent way too long on what was supposed to be a quick edit
There is so much more I could say about this, but there is not enough room. Remember to check with reality rather than believing conspiracy theories promoted, supported, and funded by white nationalist hate groups.
Missouri is proposing 20% of the nation’s anti-trans legislation this session. Gender-affirming care for young folks is on the edge of being criminalized (so much love to trans friends in states where that has already happened).
Please keep up with the anti-trans legislation in your state and combat it. There are lives at stake.
Transphobes do not touch this post.
Image ID: a 10-image cartoon comic featuring Joey, a boy with short hair.
Image 1: Joey, upset, gesticulates towards an open laptop. Text reads: The reality of St. Louis trans kids. Last week, a former (non-medical) employee of Washington University’s Pediatric Transgender Center was featured in a viral article about how the clinic was “rushing” kids into medical care and “mutilating” us. Every single thing she said was a lie, but the media loves it. Footnote reads: I wouldn’t give any more attention to this, but it is immediately endangering the lives of trans people. Missouri has launched a state investigation and is actively attempting to criminalize gender-affirming care based on conspiracy theories.
Image 2: Joey points to a map of the United States where Missouri is singled out, and a map of Missouri where St. Louis is indicated with a star. The text reads: The Transgender Center, located in St. Louis, Missouri, has been the target of hateful attacks from the far-right state legislature for years. It is part of Washington University Hospital, a branch of a prestigious private university.
Image 3: A younger Joey injects his T shot in his leg while someone takes a photo. Text reads: I can tell you that everything in the article is false because I received care at the Transgender Center beginning at 16 years old. My medical transition has brought me nothing but joy. What a gift it is to be trans!
Image 4: A younger Joey sits on a couch and stims with a tangle fidget toy. Text reads: No one is “rushed”. I sat on many waitlists, had to have 6 months of specialized gender therapy and a diagnosis of gender dysphoria before even being referred to the Center, and I was denied as “not ready enough” by an endocrinologist the first time I finally got an appointment. Footnote reads: If you’re curious about what it looks like to be a trans kid, I did another piece on that! Check out tinyurl.com/transkidscomictumblr.
Image 5: A colorful map of the United States shows how many states have a Negative Gender Identity Policy Tally and how many states have criminalized gender affirming care. Joey holds a credit card. Text reads: St. Louis’ Pediatric Transgender Center is the only one in the region, meaning the waitlists are extremely long. Plus, no one in the only industrialized country without free healthcare is getting medical care for fun. Many American trans folks have to fundraise for our care.
Image 6: Joey, distressed, sits on a couch while talking on the phone. The person on the other end says: “That’s me!” Text reads: This former employee spoke about specific cases, and patients have been able to identify themselves. She shared our private medical info and called us horrifying.
Image 7: This is split into two panels. In the first, Joey holds up a box of condoms and a packet of birth control pills. Texts reads: She especially hated trans men such as myself, saying that trans ideology was destroying “girls”. She lamented about hormones making us “sterile”, which is a complete lie. We trans mascs have to actively prevent pregnancy. In panel two stands a doctor. Text reads: Every time I had an appointment at the Center, doctors reminded me: Remember: testosterone is not a contraceptive! Footnote reads: The wonderful Erin Reed wrote a breakdown debunking all the lies in the article. See tinyurl.com/erinreedmissouri.
Image 8: Joey, masked, sits at a circular table with his brother, an unmasked boy with fluffy short hair. Joey’s brother is showing him his phone. Text reads: Major newspapers continue to platform these complete lies because they bring in engagement and money. The Washington Post tracked down my little brother’s personal cell phone number to try to get in contact with our mom – the president of an organization supporting trans kids in Missouri. Freaky, right?
Image 9: Joey, looking disgusted, leans against a door frame while talking on a cell phone. Text reads: But no one wants to talk with me, the adult who medically transitioned at this clinic as a minor and has not “desisted” in six years. The Washington Post reporter, who didn’t know anything about trans people, talked with me for 20 minutes and used a sentence of mine in an article about “both sides of the debate”. She didn’t mention that this former employee is being legally represented by a recognized anti-LGBT hate group, nor that all of her claims are unsupported by reality or science.
Image 10: Joey looks angry and gesticulates. Beside the drawing are two photos of Joey, one of him happy in front of a trans flag, and the other of him drawing up testosterone to take his first T shot. Text reads: There is no debate. There are trans people, and there are people who want us dead. There is truth and there are conspiracy theories. Where is my viral article in a major paper?
Published Feb 16, 2023. End ID.
Heyo! This is the least amount of circulation one of these comics has gotten recently, and I’m trying to combat all of the virulently anti-trans media from almost all major publications in the US right now.
If you see this, please consider reblogging! It helps a lot!
Goldie Williams, Arrested For Vagrancy & Refused to Unfold Her Arms and Stop Making This Face For Her 1898 Mugshot. (Omaha, Nebraska)
I know I already made a post about this. But ICWA is LITERALLY being challenged by a white couple that wants to adopt indigenous children to Christianize them. The tribe, whom has a say in who can take their children, is like “Nah, we don’t want our youth Christianized like you tride last time”
And the lawyer that’s helping the white couple try to overturn ICWA (so that they can convert indigenous children) is doing it pro-bono (which means he’s not charging the couple anything).
AND that lawyer is a big time lawyer whose clients are usually oil and gas industries. He’s literally fighting for indigenous children to be ripped from their tribes and culture so there’s less indigenous people to protest big oil destroying their sacred land.
The Indian Child Welfare Act is at the center of a Supreme Court case, where its challengers are reportedly represented by a firm connected
-fae
this is cultural genocide. it happened when jewish children were stolen from their families during ww2 and given to christian families to raise as christian, it happened with residential schools where american indigenous children were stolen to have their culture beaten out of them, it happened to australian aboriginal children when their government literally tried to breed indigenous australians out of existence. we cannot let this keep happening. we cannot allow white christians to continue to steal our children and rob them of their culture and family and community.
!!!SIGNAL BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST!!!
All of this is horrifying. This Land is covering the ICWA challenge throughout their entire 2nd season, and they provide high-quality transcripts for all of their episodes. They’re doing amazing (and heartbreaking) reporting about this case, please check it out.

Happy Birthday to me!
A mass demonstration is planned in the Vancouver, B.C., metro area Saturday against the expansion of Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline project. Nearly 7,000 Coast Salish Water Protectors have signed up to participate.
Building in the courts and halls of Canadian government for years, conflict over the mammoth Trans Mountain tar- sands oil-pipeline expansion is expected to spill into the streets of British Columbia Saturday with massive civil disobedience demonstrations.
Indigenous leaders from along the pipeline route and the U.S. are expected to join a march and rally beginning Saturday in metro Vancouver. Nearly 7,000 Coast Salish Water Protectors — as the pipeline opponents call themselves — have signed up to participate, said Will George of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, spokesman for the Protect the Inlet movement.
“We cannot stand by anymore,” George said. “It is going to be like Standing Rock,” where thousands of so-called water protectors stood against the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota in 2016.
“The similarity is we are standing up to protect our water. And we are going to do this in a peaceful way,” George said. “ It is going to mark a day in history; it will be a massive mobilization.”

This is happening TOMORROW (March 10th) in Burnaby, Canada (just outside of Vancouver).

BOOST THIS!
If Americans could share this, I’d really appreciate it.
A LOT of Canadians shared just about every post about #NODAPL. This is Canada’s #NODAPL and thousands of people are going to be descending tomorrow in Vancouver in a massive Indigenous lead protest against the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion which was forced through by Justin Trudeau’s government.
Also, Americans this project will effect you. Washington state shares the same water with British Columbia, and this project is going to drastically increase Super oil tanker traffic in the Haro Strait and Strait of Juan de Fuca.
If you don’t know much about this pipeline and how it will infringe on Indigenous Peoples in Canada, contribute to Climate Change and put Vancouver at a risk of a massive oil spill, I’ve included some reading below:
‘It is our Standing Rock:’ First Nations announce legal actions against feds, Kinder Morgan
Squamish Nation challenging B.C.’s approval of Kinder Morgan project in court
Justin Trudeau Clearly Doesn’t Believe In Indigenous Consent
City of Vancouver continues fight against Kinder Morgan
Standing Rock–type standoff looms in Metro Vancouver with approval of Kinder Morgan pipeline
Tsleil-Waututh blasts Kinder Morgan expansion as colonial land appropriation
Tsleil-Waututh Nation vows to stop Trans Mountain pipeline despite Trudeau government approval
PIPELINE APPROVALS MAKE CANADA’S CLIMATE TARGETS A HERCULEAN CHALLENGE
Kinder Morgan pipeline spill could cost Vancouver $1.2 billion Could increased tanker traffic tank Vancouver’s tourism industry?
Eco-tourism worth billions trumps value of Kinder Morgan project, new report argues And lots more under the #Kinder Morgan hashtag on this blog:

More reasons Americans should care about this:
Washington state officials ‘very concerned’ Canada’s oil pipeline spill plan lacking
Washington governor admires cap and trade, but concerned about Kinder Morgan
U.S. worried about Canada’s ability to respond to oil spills, records reveal
Final reminder, Vancouverites!
This should start in a few hours; 10 AM, March 10th, 2018. Meet at the Lake City Way Skytrain Station in Burnaby.
THIS IS SO FUCKING ACCURATE SHUT UP.

How much does the bus cost where you live?
I’ll go first: $2.25 cash or $2.15 on a pass is standard fare, $1.10 cash or $1.05 on a pass for Youth/Senior/Disabled. $5 or $2.50 for a day pass. Oakland.
Okay so the most recent data available on this is the 2016 APTA fare survey but it costs $100 and I absolutely can’t figure out how to get around this so we’re going to have to settle for the 2014 APTA fare survey. This is a little bit out of date but it does give you some sense of how much buses cost in different cities - and also subways, light rail, ferries, and so on. Some highlights:
Big cities have really high bus fares compared to small towns. New York’s bus fare was $2.50 at the time, and I think it’s gone up since then. At the other end of the scale quite a few small-town bus systems charge less than a dollar.
Fare hikes are relatively infrequent but when they happen they’re often pretty large. The Muni apparently raised fares by 80% in one go. This might be intended to fall most heavily on visitors and others who don’t buy monthly passes but hard to imagine that’s not hitting a lot of poor people.
Pittsburgh and Johnstown PA both have a form of transit called an “incline plane” which is mysterious.
NYC: $2.75 per ride ($3.00 for one-off rides not using reloadable fare cards), $32.00 for one week unlimited, $121.00 for 30 days. Transfers within two hours.
Also familiar with Minneapolis and SF, but MetroTransit enters with more confusion thanks to rush hour fares and the litany of express buses. In SF you'll probably end up using Uber/Lyft unless you're a daily commuter from the Avenues or traveling directly down Market.
Also I don't give a shit about PATH or the LIRR because they're useless to me unless I'm going to Fire Island.
