Here's the thing, Benoit Blanc could solve most Scooby mysteries and the Scooby gang could solve all the knives out films, but I think only the Scooby's could solve the Kira Case
L could solve the mysteries in Knives Out but I don't think he could catch a Scooby monster
The reason Benoit Blanc can't solve the Kira Case is simple, he's too famous. The moment he takes it on, and possibly before he does, light already knows his legal name and face and can kill him
The average Scooby monster doesn't feel interesting or complex enough for L, so he wouldn't try to solve the case. But he would care in Knives Out due to the complexity of the crimes, but would probably on second thought fail to solve the case as he wouldn't care enough about the people whose lives are affected by the crime
Blanc would care about the monsters in Scooby and work to solve them, this much I think is obvious, he just has to meet one person and he'll be hooked
The Scooby gang, while less talented than the other 2 have less fame, giving them cover from light and making him underestimate them, leading to them being able to solve the Kira Case. Velma could solve Knives Out 1 on her own
Basically, this is the order of ability to solve mysteries of these 3
Mystery Inc is the only one who I think could solve the others cases
Blanc could solve Scooby cases but would fail at Death Note
L couldn't even solve the Kira Case
i think a lot of what drives defaulting to "guy" for me when making jokes is there simply are not words like "person" that are funny. guy is SO FUNNY. like sometimes "human" hits the same way but not often!!! guy invokes a slightly different connotation than the more technically gender neutral alternatives in jokes like "humans think everything is a guy." it doesn't feel accurate to say humans think everything is a person. we certainly do not think everything is humans. but we do think everything is a guy. and what is the distinction there? to me "guy" kind of implies a Type, as well as sort of indicating that someone is an Entity With Personhood Of Some Sort that may not necessarily line up with like... actual personhood. when I was a kid, I called my toys that were people or animals or otherwise things that could be ascribed a personality "guys," like "oh I have to go gather up my guys to take to my friend's house with me," and this still feels like the most appropriate word for this to me. that bag full of plastic lions and flocked woodland creature dolls and barbies and beanie babies is a bag full of Guys. my guys are in there. hashtagmyguys
I feel like this works well with its etymology, since it came from Guy Fawkes effigies before being broadened, so while a person is an actual person, a guy is anything that's like...person-ish. Roughly (maybe very roughly) person-shaped.
yes yes yes!!! that's absolutely the linguistic niche it occupies
YOU MEAN FUCKING VISUAL KEI
I actually went ahead to look up "angelpunk" and found the promotion of the video on r/evangelion and the only 4 comments on it are from this single guy that ruthlessly rips into how poorly researched this video is in scathing, heavily worded criticism (I couldn't even fit it into a single screenshot and they definitely couldn't fit it into a single comment)
A perfectly natural heterosexual black swan couple raising their cute fluffy babies together as God intended <3
SIKE
THEY'RE GAY
And they're not some rare exception to the rule, either!!!
About 25% of black swan couples consist of two swans of the same sex (typically, two males).
These couples will court each other, build a nest, and raise their young together in a more-or-less committed monogamous relationship.
In fact, these same-sex couples have a high success rate of 80% when raising their young to adulthood, as opposed to the 30% of their heterosexual counterparts! Two big buff papa swans are better than one when it comes to stomping on invaders of nesting territory.
"But," I hear you say, "where do their baby floofballs come from? Does mpreg exist among black swans?"
Alas, no, but there is a very elegant solution to this. The swan couple may simply temporarily associate themselves with a female swan.
Afterwards, the female swan deposits their eggs and swims off free to live her single girlie life if she wishes (or, find a boyfriend. Preferably one who isn't already committed to another boyfriend.)
So whenever someone commits the naturalistic fallacy "homosexuality bad because unnatural >:(" I like to point out not only their glaring illogicality, but also, respectfully, there is homosexuality happening in the local lake right now.
This concludes my Ted Talk on gay swans.
a rare closeup of a black swift, found throughout north america and small parts of south america. swifts are rarely seen up close; they spend more of their life in air than any other species of bird - they eat, drink, mate and sleep while in flight. they are incapable of perching like other birds; they must cling to vertical surfaces.

Here, let's have a periodic reminder for the newer people of what my actual craft is.
So yeah. I make flameworked glass beads.
These two pictures are of a peahen (top photo from April 2019, and bird on the left in the bottom is the same bird in November 2019) that is currently going through a transformation from traditional hen plumage to cock plumage- which I suppose makes him a peacock now! The bird is 17 years old and while this sort of transformation is not unheard of (called “henopause” because it usually happens to older hens), it’s not usually such a stark difference. This bird went all out though!
[Source]
Here is an 18 year old pea that began life as a hen, but stopped laying at 14 years old and grew in male plumage!
And a blackshoulder peahen:
Who 14 years later decided nah, and swapped to male blackshoulder colors; QUITE the difference!
[Source]
And a video from a very confused man who has had this happen 5 times on his farm so far:
Peacocks said trans rights!
Another transitioning bird was posted to the group I’m in not long ago!
(source)
Another bird, this one only 2 years old, was posted yesterday. The owner had this bird genetically tested after she noticed a lack of displaying among other typical “peacock” behavior. The result came back as a hen, which means most likely this bird’s working ovary (birds only develop one, the left one) has been compromised or failed to develop normally, resulting in male plumage at a very young age.
(source)
Because this transition only occurs when the hen’s working ovary (they only have 1, the left one) stops working (or fails to start), thus ceasing production of the hormones which suppress male plumage, they are not fertile. They also do not change sex organs, just their plumage.
It’s Pride again, so please enjoy my collection of trans peafowl!
There have been several people in the notes expressing that these are intersex peafowl and while I certainly won’t take that away from anyone (welcome, enjoy!), I feel that you should all know that there are regular intersex peafowl as well.
These peafowl grow in and retain sex characteristics of both hens and cocks, for their entire lives. They do not lay eggs or court, the way the other sexes do. Unlike a hen in henopause, they do not transition into or out of this state- they are born to it and remain in it their entire lives.
In reality, gender isn’t really a thing for peafowl (or birds in general) at all and sex is pretty much a grey area. We assign them sexes (yes, sexes, I’m getting there) based on human concepts of it, but they don’t even have x and y sex chromosomes. They have Z and w, and it’s flipped from how humans are; the bird with the 2-same chromosomes is a male (ZZ) and the bird with one of each is a female (Zw) and we only assigned the sexes like we did because the hens lay eggs. Don’t even get me started on the bird species that aren’t peafowl that have more than 2 sexes. But they have no concept of gender or sex. If they did, maybe they would argue their males are the ones that lay the eggs. There’s no way to know; they are just animals we’re projecting human concepts on. Biological sex really does fall apart if you look at it sideways, and gender was a mistake.
In any case, at least in one sense, the initial birds in this post are maybe not transgender, exactly, but they have made a transition from one state to another that heavily involves looking like a standard female and then looking like a standard male, and some people have found comfort and joy in relating to that. That end state is not really one sex or another, if you look under the hood so to speak, and hopefully other people will find joy and comfort in that as well. Yet other Peafowl have not ever transitioned and yet have the characteristics of multiple sexes their entire lives the same way, and I hope that this extra knowledge can bring joy and comfort to even more people.
That’s all this is about.
I know there have been some examples of gynandromorphs in songbirds, where the bird looks split in half between male and female plumage. Does that ever crop up in peafowl or chickens?
I’ve never seen or heard of a case of gynandromorph peafowl. I assume it would have been widely talked about, particularly if there were photos, so I think it’s fairly safe to assume it hasn’t happened.
I have seen several photos of gynandromorph chickens, including this lab study:
The issue in fowl over small birds like cardinals or finches or parakeets is that the size difference between males and females can cause serious health issues. This particular bird was noted to have a rib cage that was much bigger on one side than the other.
The funniest part about this entire post is that I made the above addition about gynandromorphs just a month or two before Gemini, my bilateral chimera boy, hatched. He could VERY easily have been a gynandromorph as well, but wasn’t.
Me: Never seen a gynandromorph
The universe: you know what would be funny… :3

Joy and whimsy detected! This post is joyful and whimsical!
Bro absolutely COOKED with this.
If you ever hear the phrase "fascism is aesthetics as politics," that's what this post is talking about.
It's not about being tough on crime, because the absolute toughest most brutal measure you could take against "crime" as a social problem is to alleviate poverty, and increase access to education, healthcare and social mobility.
It's about performing "tough on crime" as an aesthetic by enacting violence against a prop, i.e. minorities and the impoverished, who are fetishized and objectified to represent "crime." They are brutalized as punishment for crime, but never with the purpose of alleviating the problem of crime.
This is why a lot of conservatives and other right wingers can get straight up angry when you suggest things like reform or social measures to reduce crime. They don't want crime to be reduced, they want an eternal war against "crime" because it provides an arena for the righteous to demonstrate virtue by brutalizing their enemies.

If Pikiwedia says it it must be true.
I made Pikiwedia real. Works for any Wikipedia page. Use this wisely :)
Oh, wary dell vone
Goodmorning to the Anthropic Claude AI training scraper that suddenly decided to request 660 thousand pages (exactly the number I had remaining on the starter plan) and brought Pikiwedia down.
Sudden switch from diverse user agents like chrome, safari, messenger preview to Just Claudebot. I'm not even mad though, this is maybe the funniest thing possible, because I've inadvertently poisoned their training data with thousands of fucked up articles with normal urls.
Pikiwedia perseveres, back up with a better robots.txt. I hope Anthropic has a gery vood time with Pikiwedia's data :))
