Just a friendly reminder that the brain of those who have suffered trauma is physically different than a “normal brain”. Trauma and abuse has a severe, long-term psychological and neurological effect. This is why you have difficulty concentrating, why you have trouble sleeping, why you can’t seem to stay focused, why you cry at the drop of the hat, why you’re not satisfied with yourself, why you think everything is your fault, why you think you’re toxic, why you’re full of regret and you don’t know why.

And get this. When you experienced this trauma, no matter how long it happened or how many times, your brain instantaneously made judgments about the world, your sense of self, and others. This is why you’re paranoid. Why you trust no one. Why you perceive things to exist that aren’t true in reality. It’s why people say you’re crazy, over-dramatic, or too emotional.

You may not heal in a day, but know this: it is not your fault. Your brain is responding to trauma.

Harmony Newsletter ~ Hikaru left Spacecraft

People are very vague about the content of the newest magazine. Apparently what was sent out today is not really a newsletter/magazine but simply a piece of paper (not confirmed yet - I think there’s actually a sheet AND a magazine but no one talks about the magazine; EDIT: There is in fact a proper magazine as well as two seets of paper). And it seems like it contains info about Hikaru having left Spacecraft on October 20 (actually it is a handwritten letter by Hikaru). There has been no official announcement on the Harmony site, no mail and no blog post either…I guess we have to wait and see. They probably don’t wanna post anything before most people have received their copy.

I will keep you updated.

I have had some time to digest the news. Sorry, I had just woken up so I felt a bit overwhelmed by everything. But honestly, this doesn’t come as a huge surprise. I think this might be the reason why Hikaru talked so much about the perks and burdens of “freedom” in her latest Otaku Column. Either way, I hope she will do the same thing as Kaori and announce a bunch of solo lives for next year (because that has always been her dream and I wouldn’t wanna deny her that). While I am sure we will eventually get some sort of official announcement, I doubt we will get a proper reason for her departure so there’s really no use in speculation.

One more thing, I am seeing lots of people on twitter say stuff like, “oh no, now Hikaru has left Kalafina as well, this really is the end of Kalafina bla bla”. This is really not how anyone should see it. Kalafina is Wakana, Keiko and Hikaru. I think they made that pretty clear. It’s not like after Keiko left, Wakana and Hikaru suddenly became Kalafina. No, they just did their own stuff. Yes, of course, they still used their connection to Kalafina to promote their stuff (because why would they not?) and they still performed Kalafina pieces (because why would they not????) but they didn’t pretend to BE “the group Kalafina”. Kalafina will always be the three of them and nothing will ever change about that (which is also the reason why I refuse to call Keiko a “former member” of Kalafina). Whether they are part of an agency or not, whether they have solo projects lined up or not, whether they continue to sing or do other stuff, nothing will ever stop them from being Kalafina, their extensive body of works will not suddenly cease to exist and nothing hinders them to one day come together again. Right now I guess we should just let them follow their own dreams and support them as much as we can.

Well, I managed to read the news when i woke up, but not much details in the post because my phone instantly died and my charger was on another workplace. Imagine all how my head exploded until i could finally reached any place to read properly /facepalm

I have to agree it wasn’t a too big surprise because of her lack of activity. But I do also wonder the reasons. Was she bitter over what was happening back then in SC (we still don’t know everything that might have been going on behind the scene) and she just waited for her contract to end, or did they just not allow her the freedom to choose what kind of career she wants to pursue, so she just decided to do it on her own. The second option might be plausible also, due to the last column, like you said.

In any case if she was unhappy, I’m glad she was able to get away. I would really like to see what has she in stash for us. Kinda hoping she’d do some good rock. Her voice is very suitable and she is fond of the genre. I’ll be patiently waiting.

As for Kalafina question, in my opinion it was over already when Keiko left, but not in terms like everyone is panicking about, but in the way that Kalafina really is Keiko, Wakana and Hikaru, and I doubt even any of them would want to continue if it’s not that specific trio. But it’s definitely not non existing anymore. We’ve become ten years of extremely high quality music and it will be there always, it exists. As for their reunion, I don’t much think it will be happening, because it seems like now they want to go their own ways and Wakana made a safe step into the solo ground, even announcing the solo single.

I do agree with @chibalein on the terms of Harmony. Is Harmony completely under SC? Or does it give any possibility that it could continue operating covering the girls’ activities even if they left? I know the answer, since they completely cut Keiko off when she left, but it really wouldn’t make much sense to stay as a Kalafina fan club covering only Wakana. So it will either turn into Wakana fan club, like previously mentioned by you all, or maybe there will be some contract revising. I renewed my Hrmony membership this summer, but honestly now I don’t know what to think..

To conclude, it’s very nice of Hikaru that she worte a personal message, making it much more intimate with fans. I really appreciate it, she always did much to show how personal she is with the fans, despite her introverted nature. and it’s really respectable. Hope to hear some news about her soon.

One day, when I was in concert band in high school, we got a new piece handed out for the first time, and there was a strange little commotion back in the tuba section — whispering, and pointing at something in the music, and swatting at each other’s hands all shhh don’t call attention to it. And although they did attract the attention of basically everyone else in the band, they managed to avoid being noticed by the band director, who gave us a few minutes to look over our parts and then said, “All right, let’s run through it up to section A.”

And here we are, cheerfully playing along, sounding reasonably competent — but everyone, when they have the attention to spare, is keeping an eye on the tuba players. They don’t come in for the first eight measures or so, and then when they do come in, what we see is:

The entire band stops dead, in the cacophonous kind of way that a band stops when it hasn’t actually been cued to stop. The band director doesn’t even say anything, just looks straight back at the tubas and makes a helpless sort of why gesture.

In unison, the tuba players defend themselves: “THERE WERE FOUR F’S.”

FFFF is not really a rational dynamic marking for any instrument, but for the love of all that is holy why would you put it in a tuba part.
