You don't have to eat local, organic, grass-fed, pasture raised whatever. For many items it doesn't make a difference. What if some GMOs are actually good for our health? I think most of us are mainly concerned with eating chemicals and toxins. So, don't eat the skin of produce that had pesticides or get an organic version so you don't have to worry. It's hard to say where the meats get contaminated but as we know, you are what you eat, so do you want to eat an animal that was force-fed get grains that probably got moldy? Grass-fed doesn't seem unreasonable. All these solutions I contemplated to be more healthy make me wonder, if anyone really considers how government subsidized mass produced food that is meant to bolster certain corporations in the food industry skews our perception of the price of these organic, grass-fed, pasture raised, local products? With the exception of novelties farmers markets, and the CSAs are the normal prices guys! Back in North Idaho. Being deeply immersed in nature is so wonderful. It felt incredibly good for my health and well-being and has me wondering why I don't get out of the city more. Shit just doesn't stop here in NYC. Even going slow I can feel like I'm moving, thinking, and doing everything fast as fuck. Nature (and lots of it) has been the only thing strong enough to help me slow down and just be me. I remind myself every day "I'm a human being not a human doing". That trip really helped me realize that being healthy has so much to do with the crafting of one's soul. Check out mah belleyy. Notice that abdominal pressure and how it syncs up with my breathing #coreactivation . I feel like many of you know me for the hands-on work I do, so, I want to share some insights about using touch to help your movement practice. Yesterday was the first time I ever did this exercise. It's basically a palloff press with the legs which means it's all about resisting the rotational pull aka anti-rotation. What I'm doing with my hands is simply pulling my skin upwards to encourage my spine to lift and to hinge at my hips, and sticking my my pinkys into my hip flexors. Yeah, weird hand-hold, but by doing that I was able to feel musculature I had minimal previous connection with. What I'm trying to say is try touching yourself while you move and exercise. Even people like myself who have been on a deep and long path of self-exploration can have enlightening experiences through the combination of mindfully placing your hands on parts and moving. 🌟 It's about the body, mind, and witness self. The biopsychospiritual model can be used as a framework to work with another human being in a truly integrative fashion. From my perspective, doing what I do, this is the only way to go. Some of you may have heard of the biopsychosocial model, which is similar, equally useful, and probably way more popular amongst clinicians because of it's acceptability, in my opinion, mainly because it's focus is on external influence and it's lack of a sometimes woo-woo term : spiritual. (WHY?) The external social influences on ones health are clearly important. It's just that in my practice while hypnosis and NLP can be utilized for reframing experiences, even with the power to communicate with the non-conscious mind, it's a major challenge to say the least in shifting other people's perceptions about most of their life's current situations/challenges. 🌟 What I am proposing is for deeper consideration of the witness-self to be validated for the path it's on. Honoring each other as humans who each have a body, and a consciously creating mind which sometimes is in misalignment with that witness (non-conscious, spirit, god-self, etc.). I hope that sharing this with you all empowers you to channel your inner healer and be there for others. Caring touch, words, and presence are the resources we each have available to give to others. Even when you think you have nothing, you have so much to give. That giving, the conscious act of presence is more valuable than you may think. 🌟 So, first, give it to yourself. 🌟If you still have an abundance (which I think most of you here have) pay it forward. But, how integrated my body feels through the flow of this movement has completely upgraded my perception of my back space. One might wonder what the benefits of 'back space' might be... Going full speed down a mountain gave me the realization that the full presence required to not die is a valuable experience to put life into perspective. When you're in these flow states nothing else matters. Getting out of one's own head, fully free, integrated in mind, body, and spirit is a perceptual upgrade I was in major need of. Getting out in nature and moving can be both humbling and blissful, yet getting out of the city can sometimes be such a challenge. Getting priorities in order should probably involve dancing with the Earth more frequently, at least for me. How do you dance with nature? Biking? Surfing? Something else?
