taking female spaces away doesn’t just deprive women of safety, but also solidarity, dignity and trust. female spaces need to exist because men are consistently historically and statistically proven to be a threat, but also because women have been deprived the ability to exist and especially congregate without male supervision by all highly misogynistic societies, as women are safer and less vulnerable when they are together or know there are women who they can trust.

this obviously isn’t just about bathrooms. as it stands, in my country, women cannot form their own groups without a male being allowed in at any time. we are not allowed to formally congregate without male supervision.

“bathrooms are just where you pee and then come out!!” then use the male bathrooms if it matters that little. “but we might get assaulted” oh that’s crazy. imagine someone getting assaulted in a bathroom. i thought that never happens?? anyways, women and our spaces don’t exist to cushion male problems. you cannot remove the things we fought for the rights for because other males cause you problems.

Kind of related to my last post, but describing radfems as "trans-exclusionary" isn't and never was an accurate term to begin. Of course, many of us willfully use it as a way to co-opt the word but aside from that, radical feminists do not "exclude" trans people from anything, we exclude men. "Transmen" or trans-identified females are wholly included in our activism because despite self identifying as men, they are still female and still experience misogyny.

Using "trans-exclusionary" as an identifier rather than "gender-critical" also completely disregards that radfems are not only critical of the concept of gender but wish to abolish it altogether. Semantically, the term "Gender Abolitionist Feminism" would make the most sense in my opinion.

The transandrophobia/transmisogyny thing was the last straw for me. Not, embarrassingly, because of the silencing of/threats against/clear sexist disdain for trans people born female, but just the jarring realization that the same community who told me for years that my sex at birth didn't make me a victim of misogyny was quite proudly stating that actually, sex at birth was the deciding factor, except those born male were the actual true targets of misogyny.

I remember seeing a post from someone who a lot of the big "transfeminist" blogs on here interacted with, musing that pretty much every young boy faced "transmisogyny", via being forced violently into the male gender role. Even if that boy grew up into a man, for the duration of his boyhood he is "transmisogynized" by virtue of his male socialization.

Transmisogyny was more severe than misogyny faced by those born female, and all males could potentially be the victim of this "worse" sexism, but no females could. TME was casually said to include cis men as well, but in practice all transfeminists acknowledged that any cis man could potentially be a trans woman and therefore victim of transmisogyny. This was a theory of a reverse sexism where all people who were born female had the potential to oppress all people born male.

This is the end conclusion of a feminism centered around trans women as women--- a 100% serious argument that there is such a thing as female privilege, often argued by people who will coyly admit they "used to be" incels and white supremacists. I could no longer see trans women, as a political group, as being aligned with feminism as liberation of women. It does not interest them. Female issues and pain are petty and delicate compared to the raw angst of the transmisogynized intellectual, tormented by loneliness females just can't understand.

It's been shocking seeing discourse lately. Discounting abuse, discounting transmen's experiences with misogyny, making up an acceptable way to say "females have more privileges than males." That not only do males experience misogyny, but ALSO a worse form of misogyny: transmisogyny.

Seeing some of the larger transfeminine identified blogs clearly attaching themselves to misogyny (through coopting feminist terminologies, creating TMA/Transmisogyny) and able to see the way society affects people and socializes them to fit into a box regardless of how this person feels about their own internal sense of gender..... but be completely unable or unwilling to empathize with female people and how this affects us. Everything that affects amabs is more potent, more meaningful, and deeper than the experiences of afabs. From the way they imagine themselves as female yet not struggling with misogyny (that one comic making the rounds about an alternate universe born cis), or denying the lived realities of people in their community, to suggesting classic cases of abuse (that bunnilla "social murder" on X) online cannot be perpetrated by a transwoman as they coopt feminist language for DV survivors to perpetually view transwoman as victims and never anything else. Power dynamics used to explain dynamically the way we interact with each other and the world is now used as a one-and-done explanation for why, actually, females are more privileged.

The doublethink is infuriating, and makes it even more angering that this blatant classic misogyny is somehow being defined as revolutionary leftist politics.

what it all comes down to is the belief that pregnancy is god's will, that babies are gods creations, and women's bodies are just the vessels he uses to make life. it's the belief that pregnancy is passive. anything the woman does to actively interfere with god's plan is her playing god and acting above her station.

but we know this is bullshit, that women's bodies make unconscious decisions regarding pregnancy, from conception to miscarriage, prioritizing her welfare above all else. if binge drinking during pregnancy is an active choice that creates a disabled child, materially so is continuing a pregnancy that you know will create a disabled child. there is no difference in outcome for the child who has to deal with the lifelong disability. and there's no material difference between miscarriage and abortion, either, except that one is a conscious choice. fundamentally, what people are uncomfortable with is women defying what they see as divine authority by exerting her own will over creation. but she's the only god in this scenario, because nobody's getting created without her.
