when england lose, women bruise
and this isnt even an english phenomenon, it is worldwide
The connection between football and domestic violence isn’t uncommon. A study shows that police receive increased calls reporting domestic violence every Sunday during football season [iii]. Researchers analyzed over 700 cities and counties using data from the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) of police reports, revealing that these spikes are linked to teams losing a game [iii]. In fact, domestic violence incidents rise by about 10% on days when NFL games are played, usually occurring in family homes and most of the time affecting women [iii]. This shows that the outcomes of football games can have a real impact on people’s lives off the field. It’s important for fans, teams, and communities to recognize these patterns and work together to raise awareness and prevent domestic violence from happening, especially during football season.
NFL games bring people from all over the United States together to show their love for the game, creating an atmosphere where diverse cultur

If you are a woman, imagine this :
You are at home watching TV and on comes an advert. It features a young man having a drink with his male friends when they see a charming woman enter the bar. The man walks up to her and tries to seduce her but she ignores him. He looks back at his friends who are laughing at him. Suddenly, he leaves the bar and comes back later on with his hair dyed blue. The woman instantly throws herself at him, kissing him and all the men in the bar are stunned. “Go blue” is the name of the hair dye brand, for men only. The next day on the radio you hear another advert promoting blue hair for men in which a woman explains why blue hair gets her instantly turned on. Going on Facebook, articles are shared : “10 reasons why men with blue hair are the sexiest”. Another article is titled : “why women are turned off by natural hair colour”. Yet another article from a website called “OpenMindNaturaScience” explains why women’s brain is pleased with the colour blue and how this colour makes them happy because of biological reasons. On the subway, a poster shows a sexy man with blue hair running away from dozens of female models who all want a piece of him. Day after day the medias keep focusing on women’s preferences, especially their attraction towards the colour blue and blue hair. And little by little, all the men around you dye their hair blue. The bus driver, the customer, your boss, your friend, the man on the street. They all have different shades of blue hair. Some are even dressed in blue, buy blue cars, wear blue make up.
And you see all these men and start thinking : “They’re so obviously trying to please us women, they know that’s what we like, this is all for us. Look at this guy with his blue shoes and blue hair, obviously trying to get our attention… and this guy at work who pretends he doesn’t like me, he’s wearing blue nail polish, he’s trying to look tough, he might not even like me but he’s still trying to please me. They’re working so hard to look good for us, this guy is rude but look at his blue hair ! He knows his place deep down. I go on the subway and I see all these men with blue hair, obviously responding to our desires, obviously interested in seducing us. All this time and money and keeping it perfectly blue every day. They think about us all the time. They are desperate to be liked by me. They ARE for ME.”
And that’s how men see feminine women.
heartwarming to see the time honored tumblr girl tradition of finding a way to make yaoi with the skinny white man from Media somehow someway even when no suitable other character exists in universe, being carried on. I understand they are now shipping Ryan gosling with a rock
beloved mutual putting ryan gosling x rock alien sex posts on my dash but i will stay strong. But seriously i can’t stress enough its literally a rock. Tumblr fangirls will find a way even if they have to resort to a rock touching Ryan goslings [REDACTED]

I know I say this all the time but seriously if you’re a radfem you need to gather with other radical women. It’s vital for you and them. Maybe you can only make it to one gathering, a festival, maybe start a meetup. Maybe it’ll only be 3 of you there, but it’s something and it really changes everything. You’re not alone and you don’t have to be. Connect. Gather.
Edit to add:
Add your location in a reblog/reply (not the tags, not everyone can see tags) and then scroll through the notes to find women to message in your area. (And then message them)

I am moving to Western Washington in September, please message me! I have lived there in the past and found an impenetrable thicket of straight “queer” libfems…I would be over the moon to find actual likeminded women I can have deep conservations about true female liberation with. My apartment is going to be a 100% female space with no males tolerated ever, and I am going to endeavor to live as separatist a life as I can while still living and working around males. So if I can find some irl radfem friends before I even move there that would be so awesome!!

Hey so since slinger's harassing minors we need to stop with the "staff needs to do something" schtick and actually report this to the proper authorities. Like this has escalated into an actual crime.
everybody this is reportable to the ic3 which is a facet of the fbi. Please report it @spambotarchive has a post about what u can do here
so one of the largest open source data communities on the internet, data.world, got bought out by a company called ServiceNow, who has decided to fucking delete all of it by July 11th. they've given users barely any notice, no emails, just a fucking banner at the top and a blog post from June that gives barely a month to download your data before they fucking delete it all.
a bunch of archives of incredibly important government datasets like maternal mortality statistics are about to be deleted forever. in a regime where they're known to fudge numbers, we can't trust a lot of the data coming from them to not be altered. open source backups like those found on data.world are vital to being able to verify that the data coming from our government is still intact and not altered. and they're about to delete all of it.
i don't know if we need to start a petition or what. nobody seems to fucking care. there are millions of users on data.world and yet nobody is raising the alarm bells and it makes me feel like I'm going insane. somebody needs to do something. i don't know what to do. it feels like more and more of this world is being destroyed and dismantled. it's not only US centric data, either! it's all sorts of countries from around the world! and they're about to fucking delete everything.
the only things that won't be deleted are private companies who happen to use the paid version of their platform (which isn't accessible data to the open source community; some people have just been using their service to host their own data on privately)
and the kicker? this announcement was made... via an AI generated blog post. so not even any sort of human touch. just a generic, soulless announcement made by a soulless human about to take a wrecking ball to one of the more important websites that exists on the internet.
an example of some of the things that will be deleted on July 11th:

This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.
OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.
And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.
Anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the conversation around TIMs in women's sports never includes ballet. It is a sport, not just an art form. I can think of a few reasons.
It's extremely demanding and cut-throat, not inclusive at all, and requires a level of discipline most people can't fathom. It's a very sex segregated sport. I suppose you'd have to transition fairly young (as a toddler, possibly, which is not the kind of decision a kid should be entrusted with), spend some fifteen years training with other girls, pray puberty won't bring about serious changes, prey you won't get career ending injuries, go completely stealth, and hope for the best. The industry is abusive as hell. Eating disorders are common. Women are rejected all the time for things they cannot change about themselves. You're either cut for it or you're not, no nuance whatsoever. A very tiny percentage actually manage to join the bigger companies.
I can see how these issues make it damn near impossible for the average TIM to become a principal dancer. Are there any? I know a few have joined productions, but most didn't transition as kids and as such didn't get the years of training girls get.
And yet I don't see the usual suspects nailing rats to theatre doors and sending death threats to big dance companies. Huh.
it's a crime to leave this brilliant tag also true
i guess this sentiment would work for gymnastics and competitive ballroom dancing too because those sports are maybe less strict then ballet but the same at the core. and TRUST ME your regular tumblr tim wouldn't survive your regular russian gymnastics teacher
Absolutely! I hate how the average person has no idea whatsoever just how hard dancing and gymnastics really are. You can't go pro unless you start training as a small child, girls and boys receive different training, and injuries are pretty common. It's so taxing on the body as well. And like you said in your tags, body type absolutely plays a role in whether or not you get to do it after a certain age. Too tall? Out. Too curvy? Out.
I used to do ballet years and years ago. I quit because I got too tall. My dance troupe was more inclusive, thankfully but goodness, the things I’ve seen. In some sports, breaking a leg is a career ending injury. In ballet and gymnastics, hitting puberty and “second puberty” are career ending injuries. God forbid, you’re too tan or dark because the tights need to be a uniform color. How dare you be an early bloomer and have a larger bust than the other girls. Visible muscle tone?🤢🤢🤢 You have curly hair and it can’t be slicked back? Fry it off trying to straighten it. If your hair is too short to fit into a bun, you deserve to be beaten.
Eastern European ballet teachers when little girls have physical traits that make them stand out (they have no control over this):
This!! Standards in ballet are next level lmao. I attempted to do ballet as a kid and the teacher kicked me out of her class on the first day before we even did anything 'cause my feet were too big. The average TIM's ego could not survive a ballet teacher fr.
There was one I remember reading about.
This video made the rounds a year or two ago. Various people online mentioned how cutthroat ballet is, but how men get far better positions because there's so few of them (glass elevator). I simply do not have enough knowledge of ballet to comment on form, but I guess I'm just shocked because (and perhaps that's just body types) the trans-identified dancer (Sophie Rebecca) appears to be doing significantly less on the stage overall than the other dancers on stage.
Additionally, they were not brought up a dancer from birth unlike many other ballerinas (although appears as though they always loved dance) Sophie Rebecca was formerly a racecar driver, then came out, transitioned, and pursued becoming a ballerina. I think it's fascinating how they went from one incredibly gendered sport to another (macho man fast car -> soft light graceful ballerina lady). And then, how to be so successful after not being a dancer their whole life?
Something something female people struggle to be allowed success in male-dominated careers meanwhile male people get fast tracked to high level positions in female-dominated careers.
Sophie Rebecca initially began learning ballet as James but was forced to leave after the teacher found out about her gender struggles
This fourth of July, I want to take some time to be grateful for the thing that makes us, a nation, so special.
