After the shoot, she sends the picture to them. Ilya posts the photo with the caption ‘This isn’t the first time Shane has cornered me in No Smoking areas’ and Shane comments ‘You liked it both times’ and the internet is abuzz with new Hollanov lore.

He wanted to tell Shane that the closest he felt to home was when he was with him. It didn't matter if it was in a hotel room, Ilya's apartment, or here at Shane's cottage; he was himself when he was with Shane. Shane two days after their big “I love you” moment at the cottage once again sitting up against the headboard staring off into nothingness. Ilya wakes up himself this time & immediately flops onto Shane’s chest & is joking around goinf Haha babe are you planning our entire future some more? This time can you tell me at what point we adopt a dog? But then Shane very seriously goes “I told you not to jump.” & now Ilya is staring at him wondering if he’s too tired for his brain to actually comprehend English or if Shane is just saying shit but then Shane goes “the MLH awards. Fuck I’m so sorry but I didn’t know.” & now there are tears in Shane’s eyes but Ilya doesn’t even really remember what he’s talking about. He knows Shane means winning rookie of the year, remembers making out with him that night, but every other detail is blurry. But also Shane is crying & apologizing for a throwaway comment he made once years ago & his eyes are shining in the moonlight & he’s so beautiful & cares about Ilya so much that Ilya can’t stop the tears from welling up in his own eyes as he hugs Shane close & promises him that it’s okay, really

to the end result that it's not uncommon for shane to be like, "wait, can i eat this?" about things during team bbqs or something because he was over having fun with a ginger ale and ilya got the rundown because he wanted to know anyway.

but this also then evolves to a game of shane pointing to things that are OBVIOUSLY not safe and asking "can i eat this?" and ilya going "no. bad." purely as a bit. (like bowls of peanuts/cake with slivered almonds on it). and it's just a way of making an important part of their life also feel less heavy. like when it comes time to actually eat, the question is genuine and important, but if they're mingling and just passing by, it's just a funny inside joke.

and it's one ilya reciprocates, too. he has no allergies, but he still points at things and is like, "can i have this?" and shane just "nope. not allowed. forbidden.". and it's a joke.
