quince paste and quince topping!!! so busy admiring and eating this deliciousness I forgot that I said I would post it yesterday! (oops!) let me tell you something -- quince was seriously missing from my life. the rose smell and color of the topping (cooked twice as long) is still in my kitchen a day later and it is relaxing and rejuvenating! get your hands on some #local #quince and make one or both of these to try it out!!! (thanks again @localrootsnyc @redjacketny!) quince #chia paste #instarecipe - 3 quince - 3/4 cup chia seeds 1. cut quince and remove core, chop into 1-inch pieces 2. boil in 4 cups water for 1-3 hours with lid on pan (the longer you let it go, the darker and rosier this quince situation will get!) 3. let cool, then purée with hand blender or food processor, add water if needed to get to syrup-like thickness 4. add chia seeds and incorporate completely 5. let sit for 1 hour to overnight in fridge (the result will be similar in consistency to apple sauce) quince strawberry topping with cinnamon - 1 quince - 3 strawberries, chopped - 1 tsp cinnamon 1. cut quince and remove core, chop into 1-inch pieces 2. boil in 1 1/2 cups water for 2 hours with lid on pan (the longer, the darker!) 3. drain off any remaining water (there should be little to none, mine was gone and a bit of a Malliard reaction had started - yum!!!) 4. add cinnamon and strawberries (I had some end-of-season berries waiting for me, but you could easily substitute any other sweet fruit) 5. cook on low for 10 minutes until strawberries begin to disintegrate 6. serve over ice cream, nice cream, whole grain toast, pancakes or anywhere else that you want to add a gorgeous splash of yum!!! #umyum #noms #eeeeeats #food #foodie #recipe #cook #homemade #madewithlocalroots #eatlocal #localfood #vegan #vegetarian #wholefoods #realfood #eatrealfood #chiaseeds #fiber #fruit #foodfun #foodgasm #foodporn #getinmyface #jennapproved #jenniknutrition #foodtography
