apparently my boss who is a professor at my school doesn’t have a cell phone and his coworkers were upset by this so they bought him a childs toy phone and labeled it “David’s jitterbug” (for those of you that don’t know jitterbugs are phones made for old people that have like massive buttons and shit) so the other day I walked into his office to ask him a question and he pressed a button on it which made it start loudly playing the ABCs and he said “excuse me I have to take this” and then started singing along to the ABCs while shooing me out of his office

So a few days ago I was thinking about blood feuds for some reason, but the word "feud" wouldn't come to me, so I was like blood ____, blood, blood something. I was in a total TOT state, and somehow the only words that came to me when I focused on the sound and meaning were thryst, which what? tryst as a word that sounds almost the same but actually exists, and beef. Which yeah. They beefing. But at that point I was thinking of Romeo and Juliet specifically and two old families beefing just sounds like something off the modern internet when I was going for Shakespearean times.

being a “professional” writer doesn’t mean your works are inherently better than fanfics. I’ve read so many fics that are more professionally written than some published books.

Story where the main character has a sibling they're really close to, doing normal sibling things and just very occasionally doing something a little bit unusual. Not much attention on the sibling, they're a typical side character.

Only pretty late, when the plot is in full swing and it's not even the first book/season/whatever anymore, we learn their backstory, that they even have one. The sibling is actually a fae the main character picked up as a kid, like they met and the fae tried to trick the mc but they didn't fall for it and somehow got a wish out of it and they wanted a sibling and were like "can you be my brother/sister?" and the fae was like "you know what? i like you, why not. sure, let's do this". So then the mc had a sibling and to everyone else, always had had. Noone ever noticed anything, the fae is really good at pretending to be human and hiding all their shenanigans.

Ok, I already knew the Greek Mythology Family Tree was fucked, but I just came to a new realisation: Athena and Triton, two gods I usually don't think of as too connected besides the usual everyone-is-connected bullshit, are literally cousins on both sides. Their fathers are brothers, yes, we all know that. But their mothers are sisters too, what the hell?!

Ok I know this is not true in every version of the myths, but let me freak about about this thing I technically have known but just realized that yes, not only are Metis and Amphitrite sisters, but that means their children are cousins too.
