@polarspaz Okay so what started as a little spin on this post somehow turned in 6K worth of Bloodborne Beast Leon and Sherry, now with a dual POV!

I had an absolute blast writing this, and unfortunately bad times are had for both Leon and Sherry... but there's cuddles in the end, so it balances it out? They're fine, traumatized but fine ;)

The first 500 or so words for the interested:

It all went to shit far far too quick. 

The worst part is, Leon had known something was off.

He’s gotten late night calls before for missions, but this one is odd from the start. The details are few and instead of sending him straight to the nearest airport and briefing him on the plane, the caller—who isn’t one of his usual handlers either—directs him to the DSO’s offices in D.C. Despite his lingering sense of unease, Leon goes, keeping a hand on one of his guns as he slips inside the building.

The halls of the DSO offices are dark. It’s not uncommon to have a few field operation specialists working at all hours, providing constant support to agents, but at this early hour, the administrative wing is dark. Empty. Silent. Leon pads quietly through the halls, his eyes flicking from door to empty door.

Something’s wrong.

With every step, Leon’s confidence that there is a mission grows smaller. It could be paranoia, some part of him tries to reason, but Leon’s not so sure. As he moves through the building Leon finally spots someone sitting in a nook of one of the common areas. Someone familiar. Leon blinks, a thread of shock and uncertainty twisting in his chest. “Sherry?”

So there actually is a mission then? But… no, Sherry is one of Leon’s usual handlers, but something still feels off. Did Sherry call him here then? It’s… yes, Leon has been avoiding her, but with good reason! After turning and losing control like that, he had to, for her own safety. Sherry’s blood still carries traces of the G-virus, and Leon can’t risk something happening. 

In front of him, Sherry startles, her head whipping around to face him. “Leon?” she blinks, seemingly just as surprised as he is. “I… what are you doing here? Did you get called for a mission?”

“Yeah,” Leon nods. He skirts around her, eyeing the shadowed hallways before glancing back at Sherry. Judging by her surprise… this isn’t her doing. But requesting a meet up in the middle of the night at the DSO office isn’t her style anyways. Not to mention, Chris and Claire should have told Sherry why Leon is avoiding her. But… “You didn’t call me here, did you?”

Sherry shakes her head immediately. “No.” She pauses, tapping a finger against her thigh as she glances over at him. “And neither did you?”

AGAIN! ANOTHER GLORIOUS ONESHOT! (〜^∇^)〜 Oh man, I REALLY ADORE how cute this gets at the end and you nailed both Leon's and Sherry's feelings throughout the whole thing! I HIGHLY recommended everyone go read this if they want some good angst and comfort!

Shortcuts to determine if an integer is divisible by:

This is a given.

If the last digit is divisible by 2 (a.k.a. even), then so is the whole number.

If the sum of the digits is divisible by 3, then so is the whole number. The recursivity of this means that if the sum has multiple digits, you can add them up again until you get a single digit and see if it's 3, 6, or 9.

Like the rule for 2, but check if the last two digits are divisible by 4.

If it ends in 5 or 0.

If the rules for both 2 and 3 apply.

No shortcut. Alas.

Like the rules for 2 and 4, but check if the last three digits are divisible by 8. (Yes, this pattern keeps going for 16, 32, etc.)

Like the rule for 3, but the sum of the digits (or the sum of the sum of the digits, etc.) must be 9.

Okay, so, basically, you remove the least important digit of the number (which is the first digit from the right), you double it, and then subtract it from the remaining number. If the number you get is still large, you do it again.

For example, 294

29 4

4×2=8

29-8=21

21 is divisible by 7

Second example, 1946

194 6

6×2=12

194-12=182

182 is still large, so let do it again

18 2

2×2=4

18-4=14

14 is divisible by 7

I think that broadly much of the appeal of "non-human body parts" in fantasy is about displaying emotions.

Like, a lot of us who had traumatic childhoods had our emotional responses beaten out of us. Don't smile, don't raise your voice, don't cry, boys don't do that, don't bounce your knee, why are you doing that it makes you look weird, don't look away, stop doing that, don't make any noises, and stop moving your hands like that.

Gradually, you become a statue. Immaculate in your formlessness, the world unable to touch you. It's awful.

And, it's not like that goes away when you're out of the situation. Learning to emote again is work. Real work. And it's very hard to justify. On some level, hiding yourself so totally is a strength. It's not 'learning how to put on a mask', it's becoming one with the mask. It's useful, or at least you'll notice when it's useful. To emote again in the ways you lost means fighting through years of trauma.

But. You have to understand. Not emoting feels bad.

Have you ever felt really, really sad but been unable to cry? Denied of tears, you want to gouge your eyes out. The catharsis is gone. Your sadness feels less real for it. Inevitably, you seek other ways to reify your emotions.

It's like this for every emotion that was removed from you. All of them not just an absence but a void. A vacuum that demands more and more. Unstable equilibrium. You have to do something about it but the natural outlet is hidden behind the scariest thing in the world.

So, you fantasize. Wings, horns, tails, ears. You'd coil around her to express your desire. Your wings would flap out and show your pride or bend inward hiding you to show your embarrassment. Your horns would be sensitive the way none of your body could be. Your tail would wag or droop or lift. Here, we see a new language to express ourselves, one untainted by the past. Escapism.

And also it's gap moe when her ears react a ton while the rest of her is totally unresponsive, which is really cute.
