every major structural social problem right now is basically "we don't have enough skilled workers on the ground" and the reason is always "well we've been intentionally underpaying and understaffng them for decades to increase corporate profits" and somehow the news always just mentions the "shortage" without digging into the cause
air travel is a mess? shortage of air traffic controllers - for some mysterious reason
logistics a mess? shortage of truck drivers - for some mysterious reason
public transit can't meet demand? shortage of bus drivers - for some mysterious reason
We even mysteriously have shortages of doctors, nurses, teachers... FOR SOME MYSTERIOUS REASON
FUCKING PAY PEOPLE AND HIRE ENOUGH STAFF
People die on the job every summer. Remember that water and shade breaks are crucial when working in the heat, and calling emergency services for signs of serious heat illness (fatigue, nausea/vomiting, headaches, dizziness, clammy skin, confusion, agitation, slurred speech, high body temperature, rapid heart rate, etc.) is entirely appropriate. If you’re afraid to call 911 for reasons such as being undocumented, you’ll need to get very familiar with how to prevent, recognize, and treat heat illness. If you are symptomatic and not allowed a break, water, or medical treatment, walk out. No matter how broke you are, your job is not worth your life.

the thing about 10 pm is that 10 pm is basically midnight if you're not careful
did i tell y’all that one time when my friends and i were making a joke mockumentary about a fake cryptid, my sibling and i got into a really bad hospitalizing car crash and instead of delaying it we just decided to film in the hospital and also convinced my mom and dad to play roles in it as well?
hey just wanted to say thanks for this incredibly chilling remark i’m so scared now
Anon is the cryptid
LMFAO
These underwater batteries could potentially store hundreds of thousands of gigawatt-hours.
I'm not going to bother reading the article to find out if this actually works or if anyone is actually trying it. I'm just happy we as a society are showing proper reverence for Orbs.
this is so freakin cool. the article goes on to say it has been successfully tested on a small scale in a german lake, and they're scaling it up in trials off the california coast!
The power is stored in the balls

i saw a great table today
it would be a perfect little writing desk or painting table
but for £200 i would be scared to spill ink or paint or leave a scratch
it's a perfectly made piece but furniture you're afraid to use is furniture you don't need and besides where would i put it? it will serve someone else much better, someone who can afford expensive ink stains

A HAMMERHEAD????
I attended a campfire presentation by a park ranger who described Osprey as "both the pickiest and least picky eaters of all time."
They're the pickiest because they only eat things they can catch by plunging into at least six feet of water feet-first and are as close to their maximum carrying capacity as possible, to maximize calories-per-trip.
They're the Least Picky because so long as something fits those parameters, Osprey will go for it.
The ranger then showed us an extensive slide show of the local osprey in flight with their catches, which included: trout, carp, snakes, bass, eels, small sharks, ducks, surprisingly large catfish, a nerf football, muskrats, a summer sausage that fell off a boat, sneakers, a fish previously thought to be extinct in the area, a Barbie Doll, and another osprey.
An impulsive thought is your asshole roommate who makes irresponsible life choices and an intrusive thought is a serial killer who escaped from prison and is back on the hunt.
