Change.org - Petition To Hire 1,000,000 People To Put Their Fingers In The Shoot Hole Of Peoplesâ Guns So They Canât Shoot Them
Itâs still gonna shoot⊠And theyâre gonna lose a finger
No. The finger blocks the bullet. We can do this
This is a gun weâre talking about. The projectile is fired using an explosion, not by compressed air of a toy gun or the elastic forces of a sling shot. People would be lucky if they only lost their finger.
The finger blocks it
The finger wonât block it - the shaft is only there for keeping the bullet straight, all the propulsion happens behind the bullet. The bullet would rip through the finger, not that many would actually fit without the victim being a child, and beyond.
The bullet would go forward a little and then hit the finger and stop itâs not that hard to understand
People are going to lose their hands. Go watch Mythbusters. They did an episode on this, the hand fucking exploded.
No, the bullet would start to go but stop at the finger. Thats basic physics. Also hands dont explode normally they did something wrong.
Why the dingleknockers would you even consider sticking your finger in the barrel of a loaded gun?? the amount of force propelling the bullet at that close of range would shatter the finger at the very least; this is a petition for 1,000,000 people to loose the use of their hands. If a bullet explodes the back of a persons skull when they shoot it in their mouth it sure as hell will explode a finger.
No the finger would stop it
Iâm loving the idiocy of this post.
Ppl with brains: ummm finger go boomâŠ
Others: no bullet stop. U no kno fisics >:V
no the finger would stop it
You guy who think the bullet would stop at the finger have never shot a gun and can volunteer to it their fingers in the barrel of my 9 mil and Iâll Iâll the trigger and see if it will stop the bullet. Dumdasses
the finger would stop it

Today I learned German Shepherds are a lie made up by lazy people who own filthy dogs
IM SCREAMING LOL
Not sure if that is a german shepherd, the eyes look funky. But there are atleast 2 dogs in this.
Im just thinking about that experiment a trans girl did on Instagram (which also had a Female Presenting Nipples ban) where she posted a picture of herself shirtless every single day starting on day 1 of her HRT trying to see at which point the instagram mods would decide that âYep those are woman boobs weâre shutting this downâ
Her name is Courtney Demone and this occured in 2015. Some excerpts from the article she first posted about it:
A short film was made about her experiences during her social media campaign called âDo I Have Boobs Now?â. You can watch the trailer here.
can we take a moment to just think about how incredibly scary magical healing is in-context?
You get your insides ripped open but your friend waves his hands and your flesh just pulls back together, agony and evisceration pulling back to a âkinda hurtsâ level of pain and youâre physically whole, with the 100% expectation that youâll get back up and keep fighting whatever it was that struck you down the first time.
You break your arm after falling somewhere and after youâre healed instead of looking for âanother way aroundâ everybody just looks at you and goes âokay try againâ.
Youâve been fighting for hours, youâre hungry, thirsty, bleeding, crying from exhaustion, and a hand-wave happens and only two of those things go away. youâre still hungry, youâre still weak from thirst, but the handwave means you have âno excuseâ to stop.
You act out aggressively maybe punch a wall or gnash your teeth or hit your head on something and itâs hand-waved because itâs âsuch a small injury you probably canât even feel it anymoreâ but the point was that you felt it at all?
Your pain literally means nothing because as long as youâre not bleeding youâre not injured, right? Here drink this potion and who cares about the emotional exhaustion of that butchered village, why are you so reserved in camp donât you think itâs fun retelling that time you fell through a burning building and with a hand-wave you got back up again and ran out with those two kids and their dog?Â
Older warriors who get a shiver around magic-users not because of the whole âfireballâ thing but the âI donât know what a normal pain tolerance is anymoreâ effect of too much healing. Permanent paralysis and loss of sensation in limbs is pretty much a given in the later years of any fighterâs life. Did I have a stroke or did the mage just heal too hard and now this side of my face doesnât work? No iâm not dead from the dragonâs claws but I canât even bend my torso anymore because of how the scar tissue grew out of me like a vine.
Magical healing is great and keeps casualties down.
But man.
That stuff is scary.
shit just got creepy
Or maybe magical healing doesnât leave scars or damage. It is magical, after all.
So after years of fighting, your skin is still perfect. Unmarred. In fact, youâre actually in better shape than regular people who donât get magical healing when they fall out of trees or walk into doors or cut themselves while cooking dinner. Youâre in such good shape that itâs unnatural.
And the really good healing magic takes away more than just the obvious injuries. You first start noticing it after about ten years when you go home and haha, you look the same age as your younger sibling, thatâs funny.
Not so funny ten years later when they look older. Or forty years later, when you bury them still looking like you did at twenty. When do you retire from this gig anyway? How much damage is too much damage?
How many times do you glimpse the afterlife, or worse, how many times donât you? What do you live through, get used to, show no outward sign of except a perfectly healthy body, too perfect for any person living a real life.
How many times are you sitting in a tavern with your friends and you hear the whispers, because the people around you know. How can they not know? Your weapons shine with enchantments and your armour is better than the best money can buy and there is not a damn scar on you. You hardly seem human to them.
How long before you hardly seem human to yourself?
And you find yourself struggling to remember the places where the scars should have been, phantom pains that wake you screaming, touching all the old injuries and finding nothing there. Itâs all in your head. Was it ever anywhere else?
How long before youâre fighting a lich or a vampire or some other undead monster and you wonderâŠ
âŠwhat makes me so different?
Here we go someone who GETS IT.
@predatsu
@ostrichmonkey
i will tell you right now what makes you so different. you have functioning organs, you angst-ridden numbnut
Once, I encountered the funny story of an AI image descriptor with a sheep obsession. It had been trained on pictures of fields of sheep. Therefore, it tagged anything in a field as 'sheep', including an empty field, because they work on statistical probability. Therefore, it thinks "ah, a field! there's probably a sheep here." (It's a bit more complicated but basically that.) It also couldn't recognise sheep in places that weren't fields, such as petrol stations or barns. [cont]
Now, the alarming aspect of this story is that the very same technology is probably what tumblr is using to identify porn. Now, if it canât tell that an empty field is not, in fact, full of sheep, what hope do we have that it canât tell an empty room isnât full of writing human forms engaged in passionate coitus?
this really does sound like an episode of black mirror
But wait, itâs even weirder than that!
This is gonna produce some absolutely baffling pornography.
âŠ. oh my fucking god they actually are using open source software. Theyâre using a fucking one-layer unidirectional bicategory tag-trained neural network. This will never work. Literally, it will never work. Thereâs just not enough algorithmic complexity to do what theyâre asking of it. I bet you I could prove on a mathematical level that this joke of a neural net fundamentally lacks the abstraction necessary to do its job.
This will never get better. Their algorithm will never stop fucking up, it will never actually flag porn reliably and it will always require a massive quantity of human hours to deal with the deluge of mistagged pictures. This isnât just a case of an insufficiently trained algorithm, itâs just ⊠this is the most basic neural network you can make. It probably hasa a lot of neurons and has loads of training data but like ⊠you canât just brute force this kind of stuff. One layer of neurons is just Not Enough.
Also, just to make this clear, Tumblr lied. I mean, we already know this, but I mean they liiiieeeeed. All that stuff they promised about what would or would not be censored? That cannot be delivered on with a system this simple. Nude classical sculptures, political protests, male-presenting nipples (really Tumblr?), nude art outside the context of sex, all that? You cannot train a bicategory one-layer neural network to exclude those things. It cannot be done. Tumblr never intended for those things to actually be permitted, they were just lying. Because the system they have cannot actually do what they said it would and never will be able to.
Also, this kind of system is super vulnerable to counter-neural strategies. I bet you before the end of the month someone hooks up their own open source one layer bicategory neural network which puts an imperceptible (to humans) layer of patterned static over arbitrary images, and trains it by having it bot-post static-ed images to Tumblr and reinforcing based on whether the images are labeled nsfw or sfw. Seriously, within a month someone will have an input-output machine which can turn any image âsfwâ in Tumblrâs eyes.
This is genuinely pathetic. Like, I have real pity for whoever implemented this, because itâs clear Tumblr doesnât actually have any engineers with any expertise with machine learning left at all and they foisted the job off on some poor bastard who has no idea what theyâre doing and is going to get all kinds of flak for their (perfectly reasonable and predetermined) failure from management.
Itâs sometime in the 1200âs. Men have come from the west, and they speak the language some - not you necessarily, but some -of the people on this small strip of sparsely populated land recognize, even if they donât understand it. Youâve traded with the western men before, been attacked by them as well, just like a while ago, when they came. You and your people struck back, but nonetheless. Someone tells you that you must pay taxes now. You have a king now. You are handed a cross. You have a king now. A Swedish king.
Itâs 1809. You are in Porvoo. The war is still ongoing, but yet, here you are, to swear an oath to your new king. No, this is no king, this man is an emperor. Alexander the First. He promises you that you can keep your religion, your old Swedish laws and your rights. The estates swear their oaths of allegiance. At the end of the ceremony, the tsar tells you that you and your people have now been heightened to a nation among nations. You are not sure what that means - there is no nation, no country, just nine provinces, the Ă land islands and some land from the north, where Tornio- river marks the border between two countries - the one you belonged to yesterday and the one youâll belong to from this day on.  Next autumn, the Treaty of Fredrikshamn is signed by the representatives of both, the Kingdom of Sweden and the Russian Empire. Sweden gave up the nine lĂ€ns, the islands and the strip of land from the north forever, and they would be forever a part of Russia.  You wonder what you should do. Russians have given the citizens three years to decide where they wish to live; Sweden or Russia. You donât particularly like either option, but there is no third option. There is no land between east and west.
Itâs 1899. The tsar, Nicholas the Second, did not agree to meet with the men bringing him the Great Petition to end the February manifesto. The Grand Duchy of Finland does not have its own postal service anymore. The diet can no longer decide the laws; Russians decide them now. You donât understand how the emperor could do this to his loyal citizens. Theyâre telling rumours that there are people in Russia who want to take the autonomy away once and for all. You hope those are only rumors.
Itâs 1917. Everything is chaos. The Great War is raging. There was a second revolution in Russia; the bolsheviks have the power now. You are at a loss of what to do. The Finnish Parliament declares that it now holds the greatest legislative power in the Grand Duchy. The working class and the middle class are not getting along, havenât been since the years of oppression. Everything is changing - Â you can feel it.
Itâs 6th of December, 1917. The Parliament has just approved the declaration of independence made only two days earlier. Now, for the first time ever, you all have to stand on your own two feet - there is no motherland to take care of you if you mess up. You wonder if youâll survive a decade here, in this sparsely populated land between east and west. You swear to do everything it takes.
Itâs 2017. Some teenage girl is writing this pretentious text at 3:15 AM in November. In the independent Republic of Finland.
Finlandâs 100 years of Independence 6.12.1917-6.12.2017
Finland is both very old and very young. The ancestors of the people living in Finland today - and of the Sami people especially -  are among the first humans to have settled down in Europe, and the bedrock on which Finland rests is among the oldest in the world. However, the Finnish written language was developed only in the 1500âs by Mikael Agricola and the first books written in Finnish were published in 1870. In the 1700âs, the concept of âFinnishâ being separate from âSwedishâ regarding the language and some cultural aspects was born, but really being Finnish like we are Finnish today wasnât born until the latter half of the 19th century.
Parts of the area known as Finland today were annexed by the Kingdom of Sweden at different times. Some areas of Finland were a part of Sweden for around 600 years, some less than 60. As a part of Sweden Finland wasnât really⊠Finland. It consisted of the provinces, or lĂ€ns, though one of them was called Varsinais-Suomi, Proper Finland, or Egentliga Finland in Swedish. Only in 1809, when Sweden lost the Finnish War to the Russian Empire and gave up its eastern areas, did Aleksanteri I, Alexander I, unify the lĂ€ns under the name âSuomen suurruhtinaskuntaâ, âthe Grand Duchy of Finlandâ and make the Grand Duchy an autonomous region within the empire.
As a part of Russia Finland was doing quite well, better than as a part of Sweden. Itâs impossible to say if Finland wouldâve been better off as a part of Sweden all along, but it can be said with certainty that as a part of Sweden Finland most likely wouldnât have become an independent country. The Diet of Finland wasnât called until 1863 even though Alexander promised to do so in like 1812, but Finnish people either didnât mind or didnât care. Finland was also one of the most peaceful parts of the Russian Empire; the Finnish people were either very loyal to the czar OR, again, they didnât really care. Nonetheless, Finland gained its own postal service, currency and eventually the Diet was called as well. The Finnish language was to become equal to Swedish in 20 years, and the national awakening was bringing with it the Golden Age of Finnish Art.
A product of the Golden Age, Raatajat rahanalaiset (Kaski) (1893) by Eero JĂ€rnefelt, English translation being âUnder the Yoke (Burning the Brushwood) ; Wage Slaves / Burn-Beatingâ.Â
In 1899, just as Finland had started to embrace its Finnishness, the Russification of Finland, known in Finland as Sortokaudet, the Years of Oppression, began with the February Manifesto by Nikolai II, Nicholas II. The postal service had been shut down earlier, but now all the power from the Finnish politicians in the Diet was given over to the Russians. The use of Finnish was no longer encouraged, now everyone was forced to learn Russian. Finnish people tried to appeal to the czar, students collecting half a million names (about Œ of the population) into the Suuri adressi, the Great Petition, by skiing from village to village, only for the czar to decline the delegation. Finnish politicians started to be replaced by Russians. Finland was slowly losing its autonomy.
A famous painting, HyökkĂ€ys (1899) by Edvard Isto. The name of the painting means âAn attackâ. It depicts the Russian double-headed eagle trying to rip the lawbook from the hands of the Finnish Maiden, the national personification of Finland. It became a symbol of the resistance towards the Russification of Finland.
In 1905 the revolution ended the Russification, and the Finnish Parliament was formed - it has barely changed since, by the way. With this reform of the Finnish political system, Finland also became the 2nd country in the world to give women the right to vote, and the first country in the world to give everyone, regardless of gender, equal political rights. The first women in the world elected as Members of Parliament were Finnish. After this brief period of time Russification was put into action again. It was only ended by the October Revolution in 1917. Which brings us to our next topicâŠ
End of the Year 1917
In 1917 the two Russian revolutions took place, at the beginning and at the end of the year. This unrest made the working class and middle class, who were not on very good terms with each other otherwise, to agree on one thing: They wanted independence.
On November 15th the Finnish Parliament declared itself to hold the highest legislative power in Finland.
A newspaper article from Viipurin Sanomat from 10.11.1917, telling about the decision the Parliament made to transfer the power (in Finland) that earlier was held by the czar to 3 people chosen by the Parliament.
The suggestion, voting and the final result of the plenary session where the Parliament ended up deciding to ditch their previous idea of electing those 3 people and just having the legislative power to itself.
On 4th of December the government - or P.E. Svinhufvudâs Independence Senate (P.E. Svinhufvudin itsenĂ€isyyssenaatti) - gave the Declaration of Independence.
A picture of Svinhufvudâs Senate and the original Finnish Declaration of Independence. A link to the English translation of the text.
On the 5th, the Declaration was published for all the people of Finland to see - however, the rising tensions between the working class and the middle class, as well as the famine closing in kind of distracted the people.
On December 6th the Parliament voted in favor of Independence. The votes were 100-88, those 88 being the Social Democrats whoâd wanted to negotiate with the bolsheviks before independence. This day was chosen as the national day of Finland, the Finnish Independence Day. However, on 6th of December in the year 1917, the newly gained independence did not stir much positive emotions. According to the memoirs of a Finnish author, Lauri Arra, that year, âeveryone waited for or sensed that some terrible disaster was going to happenâ. This terrible disaster was waiting for the newly born nation in the January of 1918, only a few weeks later.
To be a real country, other countries must recognize the independence first. Right away Finland asked Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Norway and Great Britain to recognize the new countryâs independence. You might have noticed that a key player in this becoming-a-country-independent-from-Russia-and-asking-others-to-recognize-our-breaking-away-from-Russia-process is missing: Russia.
No, Finland did not ask Russia to recognize our independence at first. However, all the other countries refused to recognize Finland as independent before the country Finland was trying to break free from approved of said breaking free first, and so Finland had to turn eastward with an apologetic smile and go: ââŠPlease?â I mean, I assume thatâs how it went, I dunno, I wasnât there.
The first ones to make a move were the Social Democrats: they asked their eastern comrades to recognize Finland as a proper nation. Lenin agreed to do so if someone came and asked. On 29th of December Svinhufvud himself, with the other negotiators, traveled to St. Petersburg. The Finnish delegation was forced to wait for hours in some room outside the room where all the important stuff was happening.
Then, just before midnight, literally minutes before the year 1917 came to a close, the Finns were handed a note, a piece of paper, with which Soviet Russia recognized Finland as an independent nation.
Said piece of paper.
Recognition
Soviet Russia was the first country to recognize Finlandâs independence on December 31st, 1917. The confirmation for the recognition was given on January 4th, 1918. The next countries to recognize Finland as a country were France, Sweden and Germany, on January 4th as well. Other countries followed, even though countries like USA and Great Britain recognized Finland only after WWI, to make sure Finland wouldnât go and join the bad guy Germany, so to say. (Krhm.)
A screencap of the Wikipedia article on the Finnish Declaration of Independence because it had the handy list here. On top of these countries, Romania, Venezuela, Panama, Ecuador, Mexico and Hungary recognized Finland in 1920. Paraguay and Luxembourg followed in 1921, Serbia in 1922, and finally Afghanistan and Albania in 1928.
Map of Finland in 1917.
Hereâs the end of part 1 of the Finnish Independence post. This focused on the history, but the next part, which I will hopefully publish soon, will focus on how we celebrate our independence. I hope you enjoyed.Â
HyvÀÀ itsenÀisyyspÀivÀÀ!
I did not have time for a fancy post like this for this yearâs Independence Day, so hereâs this one again! Iâll try to get a small post made for today nonetheless, but in the meantime, please enjoy my most popular post so far!
Are straight white people okay????
What is this?!
People like this exist. Interesting.
this story has a part 2
THERE IS A PART 3 WITH GUEST RESPONSES I REPEAT THERE IS A PART 3 THIS IS NOT A DRILL
We had to write a Mini Comic for my Illustration Class so I did mine based on The Frog and The Scorpion. Hopefully you all know the story!Â
But if you donât know the story⊠In the original the scorpion stings the frog in the middle of the river. When the frog asks âwhyâ the scorpion says âitâs in my natureâ and they both die. I like my ending more.
Done with watercolor and pen and ink nib.
I always thought this story was fucked up, even when I heard it as a very young child. I even got put in the naughty corner, and a star next to my name crossed off for questioning it.
This story is so much better, and I like itâs message much more.
This illustrates so well what is fucked up about the original story.
Implying that the scorpion would always choose to sting, even when it goes against its best interests as well as the frogâs, just because âthatâs what scorpions doâ, implies that weâre all just helpless victims of our own ânaturesâ. And therefor no one can really prevent or be held accountable for their destructive behaviour; itâs just something written into them, part of their nature.
Not only is the original pessimistic, itâs also defeatist, condemns the frogâs generosity but also absolves the scorpion of true responsibility for its actions.
I love this comic especially in conversation with the original, because it refutes all that. The scorpion is judged by words and deeds; the frogâs magnanimity is not punished, and in the end, even if we suppose that another scorpion did exactly what the original in the story did, that changes the context so that now it can be held fully accountable for opting to be a bastard.
Also the artwork is GORGEOUS.
This is really great, bc I always hated that fable for that reason, but it also made me curious about the original fable, which I looked up on Wikipedia. Apparently the origin is uncertain, it appeared in America around the 1940âČs-1950s, though there are a few similar tales beforehand and I found the moral of one of them to be a much better âdarkâ take.
In the Anvar-i Suhaili a friendly tortoise carries a scorpion across a river ; the scorpion stings the tortoise, which reflects that to cherish a base friend is to sacrifice oneself.
Thatâs a moral that sounds actually accurate and serves as a good warning- if youâre friends with a total asshole, youâll be dragged down with them. Itâs a choice you can make but its a self-destructive one. Rather than commenting on ânaturesâ or absolving people of their actions, the scorpion just represents âshitty, dangerous friend you should stay away fromâ.Â
Thereâs also a Hindu fable that has a more optimistic ending to this dilemma and you can find it here:
A scorpion and a tortoise became such fast friends that they took a vow that they would never separate. So when it happened that one of them was obliged to leave his native land, the other promised to go with him. They had traveled only a short distance when they came to a wide river. The scorpion was now greatly troubled.
âAlas,â he said, âyou, my friend, can easily swim, but how can a poor scorpion like me ever get across this stream?â
âNever fear,â replied the tortoise; âonly place yourself squarely on my broad back and I will carry you safely over.â
No sooner was the scorpion settled on the tortoiseâs broad back, than the tortoise crawled into the water and began to swim. Halfway across he was startled by a strange rapping on his back, which made him ask the scorpion what he was doing.
âDoing?â answered the scorpion. âI am whetting my sting to see if it is possible to pierce your hard shell.â
âUngrateful friend,â responded the tortoise, âit is well that I have it in my power both to save myself and to punish you as you deserve.â And straightway he sank his back below the surface and shook off the scorpion into the water.
soooo it seems like the western one kinda warped the story to have a more shitty moral. Take that as you will.
*someone posts selfie* wow theyâre kinda attractiâ

what a sweet kidâŠa cute bean⊠you deserve only good thingsâŠbe happy and safe little muffin⊠I wonder if I could pull off that eyelinerâŠ
hey gaudy? youâre a cool adult.
#and this is why the âbut they looked 18/21â excuse is such utter bullcrap#you check#you ALWAYS check#and you NEVER get to use a young personâs appearance to justify your own inappropriate behavior
reblogging again for the tags because this holds so much value to me as a minor and i think itâs really important that yâall understand this.
#adults have a responsiblity to keep kids safe  #no matter how old they are
When I was sixteen, my family visited Hawaii, and I had a cute new swimsuit. I was a pretty busty teen, with the vocabulary of an AP English student, and while I was out swimming, a couple of college guys started flirting with me. Nothing gross, just pleasantly casual hey-you-look-great-how-are-you-enjoying-the-beach stuff.
After a minute or two of this, one of them asked if I was there with friends, and I said no, I was with my family. âWow, you still travel with your family?â one exclaimed. âThatâs coolâŠâ
âWell, I am sixteen,â sez me.
Reader, they blanched. They flustered, they apologized, they assured me that theyâd thought I was also in college, they wished me a good vacation and they bounced. All within about a minute of realizing theyâd been chatting up a minor.
I was mildly mortified at the time, but now? I look back and think, Ah, what good men. What good young men.
Let people grow.
When I was younger I was very right-wing. I meanâŠvery right-wing. I wonât go into detail, because Iâm very deeply ashamed of it, but whatever youâre imagining, itâs probably at least that bad. Iâve taken out a lot of pain on others; Iâve acted in ignorance and waved hate like a flag; Iâve said and did things that hurt a lot of people.
There are artefacts of my past selves online â some of which Iâve locked down and keep around to remind me of my past sins, some of which Iâve scrubbed out, some of which are out of my grasp. If I were ever to become famous, people could find shit on me that would turn your stomach.
But thatâs not me anymore. Iâve learned so much in the last ten years. Iâve become more open to seeing things through othersâ eyes, and reforged my anger to turn on those who harm others rather than on those who simply want to exist. Iâve learned patience and compassion. Iâve learned how to recognise my privileges and listen to othersâ perspectives. Iâve learned to stand up for others, how to hear, how to help, how to correct myself. And I learned some startling shit about myself along the way â with all due irony, some of the things I used to lash out at others for are intrinsic parts of myself.
You wouldnât know what I am now from what I was then. You wouldnât know what I was then from what I am now.
It distresses me deeply to think of someone dredging up my dark, awful past and treating me as though that furiously hateful person is still me. It distresses me to see others dredging up the past for anyone who has made efforts to become a better person, out of some sick obsession with proving theyâre âproblematic.â
Purity culture tells you that once someone says or does something, they can never go back on it. Thatâs a goddamn lie. While itâs true that some remain unrepentant and never change their ways and continue to harm others, itâs important to allow everyone the chance to learn from their mistakes. Saying something ignorant isnât murder. Please stop treating it that way. Let people grow.
Still call it out and question it âŠ.
Bruh. No. Listen. Call out what people do now, absolutely. If they havenât changed, call them out on their record. This post is explicitly not about people who HAVENâT changed. What this post IS saying is, if someone is making an effort to be a good person, donât go digging around in their past for evidence that they were once for what theyâre now against, or once against what theyâre now for, as âproofâ of what they âreally think,â because peopleâs opinions and beliefs can change.Â
The obsession with finding shit in someoneâs past and then claiming that a questionable or even sordid past negates all possibility of a good present needs to become extinct. Gold-star activism and purity culture are bullshit and we need to collectively reject the fuck out of them.
If someone has changed for the better, donât harass them about what they were like before they fuckinâ changed. Thatâs shitty and it needs to stop.
This might actually be worse than the infinity stones thing lmao
What was the infinity stone thing?
Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite Collectorâs Edition was suppose to come with cool light up infinity stones but instead ended up shipping with The Infinity Easter Eggs.
đđČ
That is perfect. For those that still donât understand, maybe this will help âŠ
đđŸ Negative. I donât want no nigga in jail telling me how gorgeous I am. Females on the otherhand crave and need attention. They donât feel as beautiful as they think they are unless their being told so.
Real talk, my guy, youâre the dumbest bitch alive lmao
This is what weâre dealing with, folks.
45 is a 5 year old.
the funniest thing in the entire pirates of the caribbean series is definitely that one scene in At Worldâs End where they have parlay but davy jones is part of it, and rather than have him stand in the shallows or something they get a big bucket of water and have in stand on it on shore
who thought of that idea? who thought âput davy jones in a bucket of waterâ and had the guts to suggest it aloud? and then who went âhey that sounds like a great idea!â
at some point someone told davy jones their idea was for him to stand in a bucket of water and he agreed to it
*stands majestically in a bucket*
ok but notice the trail of buckets behind him meaning he walked from the ocean through three other buckets of water before he got into the one hes standing in
Itâs even funnier when you consider how he must have figured all this out in the first place.
Some folks are asking âwell, if he can avoid the no-dry-land curse simply by standing in a bucket, doesnât that ruin his whole motivation?â, but heâs not on dry land here.
The parley takes place on a sandbar - which, for the unfamiliar, is a temporary âislandâ of sand deposited by breaking waves, unconnected with the shore, that spends most of its time submerged, being exposed only at low tide.
What Jones is doing here is rules-lawyering his curse. Can you imagine the trial and error he must have gone through in order to determine that this would actually work?
âOkay, do islands count as dry land? How about parts of the shore below the high tide mark? Reefs? Shoals? What if I stand in a pool of water on a shoal? Does it have to be seawater, or will any water do? Does it have to be a natural tidepool, or can it be something artificial, like a bucket?â
What I am saying is that there must have been a process.
Pretty sure that this implies that the reverse - a bucket of sand, floating on the water (big bucket with just a bit of sand), would qualify as dry land. Thatâs absurd, so Iâm pretty sure that his lawyer pulled a fast one over the curse governor.
It may be absurd, but the text of the film bears it out. Davy Jones can sense the presence of his heart while itâs at sea, but not while itâs on land (indeed, thatâs why he buried it on land in the first place: to break his connection with it) - yet placing the heart in a simple jar of dirt conceals it from Jonesâ awareness just as surely as burial on land does, even if the jar is on a boat at the time. Suitably prepared vessels filled with dirt absolutely count as dry land for the purpose of Jonesâ curse.
Then the reverse should also be true. If he buried it in a jar of water, no matter how far inland it is, he would be able to sense it. So by this logic, any container of seawater counts as not dry land, ergo, the bucket is a perfectly viable loophole.
Not necessarily. Itâs traditionally a lot easier to accidentally get whammied by a curse than it is to weasel around it - I figure thatâs why heâs using multiple layers of indirection here. Heâs forbidden to set foot on dry land, but itâs technically not dry land (itâs a sandbar, a non-permanent landform exposed only at low tide) and he technically didnât set foot on it (heâs standing in a bucket of water). Itâs entirely possible that either one of those things alone wouldnât make the grade.
okay but this all raises one further, very important question: if itâs specifically âdry landâ heâs forbidden from, what about wetlands. can Davy Jones fight you in salt marshes? can he throw down in a peat bog?Swamp Battle?
This is the quality content I come to Tumblr for.
could he step on land if his shoes are wet?
No matter how ridiculous PotC gets I will love it. Especially when it results in conversations like this
What if he crawls around on his hands and knees, with his feet raised slightly into the air? Can he walk on his hands? Can he ride around in a litter or a wheelchair?
can he be in a wheelbarrow?
What if he flies over dry land? Like in a hot air balloon, or in the claws of a giant bird?
What if heâs carried by two swallows using a strand of creeper?
European swallows or African swallows?
this whole thread reads like a conversation between these two:
In fact im not entirely sure that it wasnât their idea in the first place
