it's always funny to me when ppl act like it's somehow incestuous for characters who consider each other found family/chosen family/whatever u wanna call the trope to date each other, and it's funny for many reasons, but most specifically it's funny because irl when you meet a person and get really attached and decide that you want to be family with them, there's a very popular legally recognized way of doing that & it's called marriage
Marriage promotes incest because then you end up having sex with a family member
The most horrifying thing about being a human is that no matter how intelligent you are or how much customer service training you have, nothing will stop you from being the idiot customer on occasion. At some point you won't read a sign or you'll misread a menu or ask the dumbest question a human has ever formed and there is nothing you can do to prevent this. It will happen. Accept it and continue on your way as one of today's dipshit customers.
it’s so funny when someone goes from being a lesbian to being a bisexual trans guy bc it’s like ok so the attraction to men was there but you had to make your way through the labyrinth and solve the riddles three before it could be unlocked
You know that thing would eat you if you died, right? *pointing to the false image of you that others perceive*

Hey everyone, remember that being sick or healing from injuries is a hard time for your body. You have to eat a lot and lay still and be kind to yourself! [large neon sign that says HYPOCRITE descends from the ceiling and points at me] Hey what the heck what's this who put that there

Those are clearly complimentary and thus this isn’t theft. A social faux pas perhaps but that’s all.

Here is the sad, unavoidable truth- there is nothing you can do, no choices you can make, no life you can live that changes the fact that the people you love will die.
We all die, of course. But, terribly, that means the people you love will die too.
You can't stop that from happening.
The best you can do, the best any of us can do, is live our lives in such a way that when this happens, we have as few regrets as possible.
My grandmother died this week. My last living grandparent. She was 95, with family, and full of morphine. It's one of the better ways to go.
And while I know this isn't true for everyone, because people are messy and complicated and we all must do our best to be kind and fair to ourselves as well as others, I find that one of the most common regrets that people have when someone they love dies is just, simply, that we wish we would have spent more time together. Talked more. Listened more. Been present more.
So. Text someone you love tomorrow. Go have lunch with them next weekend. Bring over a bottle of cheap wine and play a few rounds of Uno or Jenga. I know the drive will be a pain and traffic is bad and staying at home is easier and you're so tired from work and you dont even really like Uno all that much.
But, I dunno, do it anyway.
Thank you all for your kind messages.
In her last year, my grandmother struggled so much as her memory started to go. She couldn't knit anymore, couldnt do her crosswords, she had a hard time even reading books. It seemed like all she could do was watch TV for hours and hours.
So I found some "large print" coloring books for adults and cheap alcohol marks, and I'd go visit at least once a month. Bring her some New York style pizza from a little place in town, and spend an hour or so coloring. It was just a small thing, and I am lucky we lived close enough that I could do it without much hassle.
She'd show off those coloring pages to all her nurses. She'd show me all the pages she did between visits. It wasn't much, but it was something she could do, and something we could do together.
Take the time. If you can, even if it's a bit of a chore. Time, in so many ways, is all we can give, and we can never give enough. We always run out.
