a year safe in your heart by Anonymous - A plane crash time-travel/dimension travel sort of deal. Ilya POV with a happy ending after some decently heavy angst (all related to the plane crash and subsequent pre-travel grief)

you feed me the taste of your fingers by @ziusura - Alpha/alpha omegaverse au smut. All I have to say for this is that it's hot as fuck.

crossfire by makemegentle - Cliff/Ilya/Shane, again this is just hot. Obviously disregard if this pairing isn't your thing, but it's basically just smut not any kind of romantic relationship.

Ilya; My Ilyusha by Anonymous - Another plane crash time/dimension travel, except this one is explicitly Shane traveling from book canon to show canon. Prose is honestly kind of mediocre, but I'm weak for this type of premise and this one has physical consequences for doing a "the Marlow hit is worse than canon" set up.

Combine by @deliciousblizzardshark - Soulmate bonding where high enough bonds have to get drafted by the same team. Not at all similar in tone to that Jaromir Jagyr/Sidney Crosby bondfic that I can't think of the name of right now, but did kind of remind me of it.

the hand on the back of your neck by Anonymous - A video of Ilya being fucked by his Russian hockey coach at 13 circulates the internet. All the warnings on this one.

all the dishes intact by all_delighted_people - Shane goes apeshit oneshot. No resolution, which I liked about it. YMMV on the characterization - I like when Shane gets unfair and bitchy in his head, but whether or not you think the framing pulls it off, that's up to taste.

It's all Canadian Vodka's fault by FriPie - MCD fakeout. Considering all the really heavy and serious MCD in this fandom, I thought this was fun and sweet.

one week, two hours, and six minutes by WingedQuill - On that note, this is an MCD fakeout taking itself 100% seriously and NOT during canon's plane crash fakeout. Heavy angst, I enjoyed it a lot.

Merry Christmas, Please Don't Call by barnes_romazanov - Ilya crashes out (but isn't suicidal he swears! pinky promise) and it nets him a psych hold; Shane' tries to clamp down on his more neurotic tendencies and fails; all around, a great example of a fic series tackling both sets of their issues semi-realistically. Altho this isn't bipolar Ilya, which would've elevated this to a perfect fic.

the weather of your youth by Anonymous - Suicidal!Ilya in Ottawa. That's it; that's the fic. Seriously though, amazing fic, highly recommend.

the infinite playlist by archimedesprinciple - Ilya and Shane go to a bar. Situationship era. Drunk angst ensues. POV jumps around.

And finally, I can't help but rec two of my fics that I like those most:

sveta - Svetlana/Ilya/Shane immediately post tunamelt. Angsty smut. Kind of got out of hand when I wrote it.

corn liquor blues - A new Boston rookie from the Nashville area takes the team out to a family barn party after a late season loss. My version of an Ilya character study (at least until I get around to actually writing an Ilya character study).

In Skip divorce, do either Kip or Scott (before or after) sleep with any of the other Game Changers series protagonists/pairs?

for some reason the idea of Kip taking up with Luca post-divorce is very funny to me - like Luca canonically does like to draw so maybe he does actually have an interest in art and he and Kip have made a like 30 minutes of polite conversation total before the divorce but once it's over & Luca is still playing and maybe he wound up with the in-universe Islanders and he stops by and makes an excuse to see Kip and they fall into bed

And Kip knows how to deal with jocks at this point but Luca is a little more cultured and way less repressed and they look good together in an art gallery

Scott imo does go and cry on Hollanov's couch for exactly 72 hours before Shane says something incredibly bitchy about how everyone was surprised it lasted that long anyway & then they don't see each other again until Scott's Hall of Fame induction (he had to go through a few ballots and basically wait for the MLH voting population to change - so of course everyone has to show up when he makes it in)

Skip divorce papers are finalised and Kip posts the Nicole Kidman parking lot scream to his stories and then he texts Ilya and Shane "let's get dinner soon pls pls 🍸🤪💋💋" and Eric texts Ilya and Shane "do you think Kyle's about to leave me" and Scott deletes his instagram but Kip posts another story with a screenshot that's just Scott's grindr profile with a timestamp from like a year ago and Kyle texts Ilya "i think Eric thinks im about to go suck Kip's dick????" and Luca texts Ilya "Kip just DM'd me........." and Shane is sitting there swiping away notifications making frog face while Ilya wheezes so hard he gets a nose bleed

I love the Skip divorce hc because I love the contrast between Skip/Hollanov in my mind.

I think the public thinks Scott and Kip are the ultimate dream couple. The Disney Prince/Prince of hockey!

Everyone looks at them and it puts so much pressure on them. They can't show that they fight because the media or social media will report about it and discuss who did what and who is too blame and it is the reason that Scott plays so bad and that the Admirals will lose? They need to be happy and have a grand wedding that you see in movies or magazines. Everything they will do in their wedding will be news worthy and even without realizing the Skip relationship develops a little ballon in their middle which grows with more and more negative feelings.

But then you have Hollanov. Their outing was basically the complete opposite. Sexy instead of romantic. Explosive and destructive instead of hopeful for a better lgbtq hockey world. Rumours of cheating, homo- and biphobia, lockerroom problems, slutshaming. You name it and Shane/Ilya get it. Skip heard so much praise for their outing but it seems Hollanov mostly gets hate.

Skip is a dream and Hollanov is toxic.

Except people don't realize that Ilya and Shane lived through so much shit and they will also survive this. The media looks at them and calls them toxic. Codependent. Crazy.

Little bottles of the blood of their spouse as a necklace. Collars made from gold or diamant. Jewellery and furs that they give each other because they want to see their spouse in this and nothing else. Tattoos or piercing which are explicitly about or for each other.

Why is this crazy if they have the money and love each other?

As the media and fans need to live through the shock of the Skip wedding Hollanov will celebrate a vow revival because they want to celebrate their first meeting.

Sometimes toxic is better.

skip divorce where for various reasons scott hunter ends up crashing on shane and ilya’s couch after the public intoxication charges… on the couch because ilya won’t let him sleep in the guest room (he wants to turn him out of the house) and this was their compromise. he and shane keep having whispered fights about it in the kitchen while scott is morosely watching tv in the living room with the volume on full blast while secretly nipping whiskey out of a flask he’s been cunningly concealing between the couch cushions. shane is like he’s a fucking mess ilya, it’s actually embarrassing and pretty bad PR like he’s kind of making all gay hockey players look bad, isn’t it better to let him stay for a few days out of the public eye, and ilya is like that prehistoric barely alive intoxicated dinosaur is going to try to FUCK my beautiful HUSBAND I’ve already SEEN him making sad wet eyes at you hoping you’ll find him pathetic enough to hook up with, and shane is like oh my god ilya don’t be ridiculous he just got divorced he doesn’t want to have sex with me!!!!, and scott hunter who just lurched into the kitchen unheard behind them and is a flask and a half deep at this point is like soooo [hiccup] what’s up with you guys anyway. like is your marriage basically open or— and then ilya tries to kill him.
